Cafe con mel is a delightful local restaurant specializing in coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and rice bowls. The food is always phenomenal. The staff is a delight and takes the time to get to know their returning customers. The restaurant is located conveniently within the Guilderland Public library and has a cozy and eclectic vibe. They also offer locally made goods and discounted books. Food and drink from the Cafe is welcome in the library as well. We go usually once a week and can't wait for our next trip.

I go to the GPL frequently and I was delighted to discover this cafe right inside the library! What a little gem! In addition to the delicious, fresh food and beverages, they offer an ongoing used book sale, (what book lover doesn’t appreciate used books for a mere $1 right!? ?) But also cute little gift items! I believe some are locally made. I want to see sweet, locally owned establishments succeed and thrive! So I am on a mission to not only make a purchase at every library visit, but to also encourage as many people as I can to do the same. Charisse and Marinda (sorry if misspelled) were warm and welcoming ♥️

Good service, food could use seasoning but service is great. The atmosphere has little tables but nice and quiet and you are able to buy books in a little nook inside the cafe.

The employees were extremely friendly. The vibe was nice to sit down and focus for a bit but the music was coming from an employees' phone, so when they were texting it was playing on the speakers, which was distracting and a bit annoying. I got a breakfast sandwich and a coffee. The sandwich was good, just a bit greasy. The coffee was hard to drink, it tasted like the water they made the coffee with was musty. I'd try this place out again but not for a while.

Guilderland Library location is not ready for prime time as of Oct 2023. As another reviewer observed, the egg sandwich was served on a white-bread hamburger bun. Nobody does breakfast sandwiches that way, anywhere, ever. Cafe Mocha was watered down; possibly they can't find an experienced espresso barista yet. Finally, the chairs are so tall with legs so close together that they're unbalanced; mine tipped right over. That's just unsafe. I was really hoping for a new go-to destination, but this was a serious disappointment. It needs a whole lot of work if it's going to survive long term, even with a relatively captive audience.Update: owner's response simply does not address my concerns: (1) having other seating besides the unsafe chairs is irrelevant; they're still unsafe. (2) I've had cafe mochas for decades, throughout the USA, and none have ever tasted watered down. Asking for a do-over wouldn't change that. (3) I'm not the only reviewer who thinks a white bread hamburger bun is ludicrous for a breakfast sandwich. Finally, I forgot to mention that they forgot the spiced mayo I asked for on the sandwich. That's a lot of things to go wrong in just one visit. I hope they will take a good hard look at their operation and try to fix the problems.

First time at Cafe Con Mel at the Guilderland Library. It was supposed to be open at 8:30 but they were late arriving to open the Cafe on time by some 20 minutes. The room is quite nice and certainly could be a nice spot to enjoy some coffee and a treat.I ordered a sausage, egg and cheese along with a coffee. The first cup of coffee was simply not hot. The server apologized and made me another which was better. The sandwich was most disappointing though. It was served on a soggy roll that just couldn't hold the egg and meat. It fell apart and became a soggy mess. I know the Cafe only recently opened so I am one who can definitely understand that it takes a bit of time to get the kinks out.I would suggest finding a different type of roll for the sandwiches, maybe playing some soft music at a low volume and serving people who dine in on a plate rather than in a paper bag. I might give it another try in a few months.

I was in need of a coffee and figured I'd stop in Cafe con Mel because of their drink menu and now I'll be coming back to try out more! The service was really friendly, and the atmosphere was super welcoming - plus they have a lot of merchandise for sale to meet just about any needs! This place is definitely worth checking out, and because they have coffee icecubes they became a top coffee shop for me!

It’s unfortunate that I have to give this review but here it goes…I had a pleasant first experience going there about a week ago for the first time. Like the rice bowl and came back for more. Their hours are a bit weird but whatever. So I try again and the smoke alarm goes off, seemed a bit sensitive but then I realized maybe my food might be burning lol. Well after waiting 30mins because the chicken I wanted was hinted that it wouldn’t be suitable to eat especially me being pregnant (God I hope they don’t serve that to anyone else). So I try this Adobo chicken and it looks undercooked! I’m feeling a bit sick even having a few bites of this…This is very dangerous in my condition. The plantains look fully cooked but even they are underdone to my surprise. The card machine wasn’t working and I understood so I didn’t mind sending Venmo but I was over my lunch time waiting so long. Safe to say I can’t go back unfortunately and I would say for anyone trying for the first time make sure the quality is there before taking a bite!
