The manager is an idiot. Horrible customer service. I never write a review but his pompous attitude was disgusting. The live music was so loud my party could barely hear each other talking. It was 8:00 on a Saturday night. When we told the manager that the music was too loud, he told us, “This is a lively restaurant”. I looked around at the over 50 crowd and thought- nope! We won't go back!
This restaurant opens in/after Corona tine, we drive by many time and wandered what tipe of cuisine is going to have this place.Finely last Sunday we dine in and got impressed about the ambiance, the flowlinness of the floor, how friendly and professional the staff was, and the food is out of your mind.We definitely going back here instead of driving to Huntington restaurants.
Parking: Very large parking lot.
Service was superb. Brendan, our waiter, should be an instructor in the hospitality industry. To everyone else, if you make an effort, customers will order more & give you a bigger tip. I probably would've ordered at least $100 less food & drink, if Brendan was like many of the apathetic staff I've run into lately in the ‘service' industry. We also were approached by different managers or owners who made everything special for our birthday celebrations. The food was top notch. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, apps & drinks. The rainbow cake special was par excellence. Overall, a great first visit. I'll go back to celebrate other occasions.
Overall great experience-We had Excellent, friendly service, great atmosphere (ate outside), and delicious food. The waiter was very accommodating to food allergies and sensitivities. After the sun went down it got a little colder our waiter offered a heater and set it up right by our table which was very nice it made it more comfortable.
Beautiful outdoor location with music and attentive staff but food is only ok. Wife had swordfish which was tasteless and I had NY Strip with fries. Strip was outback quality but priced higher. Wife complained to manager about the swordfish and he said he would tell the chef but didnt offer any compensation to return.
Overall excellent restaurant. Can't get a decent 8 oz prime fillet for $48 including potato and vegetable anywhere near my home. I usually pay $62 a la carte for a prime fillet mignon. Then sides for $10 to $15 each. Many of these high price steaks, also, at other restaurants are tough and not true fillets. So that alone makes Hooks and Chops outstanding. Nice variety of menus with specials whose prices they tell you up front so you are not surprised when you get the bill. We tried variety of things. Steak dinner excellent although I would have preferred more green vegetable substitutions . Only have spinach daily and roasted mushrooms. No green beans, eggplant, broccoli, cauliflower, mixed vegetables or asparagus except for occasional specials My husband tried the cavatelli ricotta and short rib thinking it was a pasta with ricotta mostly. It was a short rib with brown sauce pasta and large dollop of mixed ricotta and other cheeses on top to dip pasta in. Good meat sauce but not wild about the cheese topping. Roasted mushrooms excellent. Desert menu excellent. had home made dark chocolate gelato with large chunks of dark chocolate and an order of chocolate sin that was decadent . It has a large sliver of dark chocolate coming out of it and a biscotti . Good tasting and good sized cup of cappuccino , Tried a short rib meatball. Looked like a meatball but broke into short rib quickly so best to call it short ribs but tasted good. We will go back and try other entrees for the value and quality of food. We aren't drinkers so can't comment on any beverages. Overall a 4 Star rating with few shortcomings such as limited offering of vegetables. Lots of designer salads but we don't eat those. Some os the appetizers look intriguing and we haven't tried any of the chicken or seafood entrees or appetizers yet.
The chef does a great job at putting a great spin on old favorites. Food was great, live band was fun, and price was not terrible for a steaks and seafood. Recommend highly. Go for it.
Dined here on a Saturday night. Had the option of sitting indoors or out. We chose inside. But if you sat outside you were treated to live music which was very good. The food was excellent, especially the crabmeat appetizer. The waiter was very attentive as well, We will definitely return.
Heard about Hooks & Chops from a friend. This place did not disappoint. Although indoors was a bit noisy, they kindly accommodated us and resat us outdoors. The venue is beautiful. The staff is so friendly from checking in to waitresses to busboy to the Maitre D ( woman) . The drinks food and desserts were all delicious.. We will return!
Everything was perfect. The bartender came over each time to hand pour my martini. The server was amazing, funny, attentive... The gentleman at the front, who originally greeted us was great. Thank you guys so much . My birthday was very nice, My boyfriend and I will be back. 10/10 recommend!

Had a FABULOUS dinner here. This is a casual great place for a really good meal. We sat outside where they had a one-person band playing (at a very nice comfortable noise level). There is live music Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. It was really enjoyable. The food that all of us had was PERFECT. It was delicious from the appetizers all the way through to dessert. They also have happy hour drink specials which we certainly took advantage of. I will definitely be going back and I will move it way up my rotation of go-to restaurants. Honestly, I liked everything about this place. For a nice comfortable easy night out... go!
We had an absolutely spectacular dinner at Hooks and Chops!! I highly recommend. The specials were unique and different. The regular menu also has amazing items. Don't miss trying the Tai calamari!! Also when available the lobster roll is fantastic!!! The perfect ending to an incredible meal was the chocolate bag cake!!
Went for a special birthday. We were treated like royalty. Our waiter Brendan couldn't have been more knowledgeable about the menu or more accommodating. The food was delicious. I have never had a tastier steak . If you don't try the lobster mac & cheese you are missing out! I can't wait to go back again. This place is a true find in Commack.
Great night! Food was delicious and the music made for a very enjoyable evening. We made an error when paying the bill and accidentally gave an additional $100.00. The server Sam brought the extra money given to our attention! Beside her quality service, she was honest and we appreciated that!!!
This is such a great local spot. Yummy food, great drinks and cool atmosphere. We went with a group of friends in a Wednesday night and sat outside. It's a beautiful patio. It was a little quiet - no one else outside and only a few tables inside. Definitely give this place a try.
