This restaurant is incredible! Like please, nothing is this good for miles around. I live in the suburbs of NYC and I say this place is phenomenal. Just such a Jem in upstate New York. ?

I dined at Alex's many times back in 2015-2017 when traveling to Coop regularly for business. The Thai Duck Red Curry is one of my all-time favorite dishes I have had anywhere in the world, and I can still taste it (in my mind) years later. I have tried to duplicate at home, but cannot do it justice. Alex's had many other quirky, hip dishes that are worth checking out. If you're in Coop, check this place out and don't let the weird alley-way to get in scare you off!

Some of the best pork belly steamed bao we have ever had and the chicken empanadas were wonderful. The Kimchi was also good.

I have been to Alex's probably half a dozen times over the years, every time I come to Cooperstown it is a must as the food and dining experience have been consistently excellent. This past October was no exception. Although due to the times they had a reduced staff, it still took nothing away from our dinner. The food was again wonderful. Highly recommended.

One of the better restaurants in the area with a wide variety of cuisines from different parts of the world. Any of the menu choices are excellent.

WoW! Let's just start with the fact that my wife does not eat Indian cuisine.... so a restaurant where I can get Chicken Tikka Masala and she could have Salmon Tacos? Two thumbs up. Now let's add to that the fact that both meals were top shelf. Delicious and ample. Some of the best curry I've had in a long time. Being an aging hippie of sorts, I loved seeing the food come out in completely recyclable/compostable dinnerware right down to the compostable flatware. All this in a sweet little cozy bistro atmosphere... the room has character and warmth and our server was friendly and genuine. Five stars might not be enough for this amazing little eatery!

The food, the staff is worth your money...

They say they’re having difficulty in staffing but the quality does not suffer. Everything from apps to bar is terrific. A definite must find in Cooperstown. I’d suggest making reservations if it’s a large party or prime time but 2 walk-in at off times, very enjoyable

Absolutely amazing food and killer service. The Cubano was without a doubt one of the best things I’ve ever eaten!!!

A real hidden gem of Cooperstown! This place is now in our top 5 restaurants of all time. Everything was absolutely amazing with only two guys running the entire place. He said they went from 20 employees last year to just 2 this year. The guy running the front was literally running. So if you want to go, make a reservation, put your patience pants on, tip well, and be kind, because it's SO worth it. We got the eggplant, pork buns, lamb curry, frites, empanadas, and the apple tart. They had run out of a few things because they're changing over their menu and we already plan to be back to try the new items!

We were so excited to try this spot out after hearing about it for months, and sadly we were disappointed. The menu options are awesome, huge flavors and good variety especially for the area. It looks like it's there off season so it's not staffed, and you go up and order yourself, no biggie, but the poor guy behind the counter is so overwhelmed I wanted to jump back there and help him myself. First two things we wanted to order they were out of ingredients, so we had to switch it up. First three drinks we tried to order.... They were out of stock. Finally settled for some beer that they had stocked and we got back to the table and it was warm, after being pulled from the fridge (guessing they just stocked). Margarita was phenomenal, would highly recommend that. Our food came out and we had asked for no sauce due to an allergy, and it came on the sandwich. At that point more tables had come in and we didn't even bother asking for a new one, because it'd be a long wait. We weren't asked how we wanted our steak cooked for any items and before we could say something the worker was on his way to work on a different tables drinks. We thought dessert would be there redemption but they were out of stock for that too /: we wound up paying and leaving to go to Mels down the block. Could never go wrong not with them

I've been to Alex's Bistro before, and loved it, but it was never as good as last Friday night! It started when my spouse and I, with reservations for our anniversary dinner, got to Alex's and saw a "takeout only" sign on the door. Confused, we walked into an empty restaurant and an apologetic Chef Josh. He explained that there was an unexpected staffing problem and we couldn't be seated. But it was our anniversary and I'm guessing our disappointment showed on our faces. Then Chef Josh got an idea. Long, lovely story short, Chef Josh spirited us up to the 2nd floor. Then his best bud Joseph (a hospital worker who was helping out his friend), waited on us - while filling the many takeout orders we heard being picked up. And WOW did they wait on us! That we expected good food goes without saying - that's why we chose Alex's to begin with (I loved the Lemon Song cocktail and Chicken Tikki). But Chef Josh and Joseph did more. They brought the magic...from the ultra-pleasant service during our delightful "private dining" experience to the Michael Bublé music and the dessert, delivered personally by Chef Josh and Joseph with big smiles and a candle...which Josh lit as he brought it to our table. How cool was that? Here's the thing: Chef Josh did not expect whatever problem he had earlier. It wasn't a good day for him and he could have been sour. And Joseph could have been home with his family instead of filling in at a restaurant. Instead, they both went out of their way to make our night fabulously special - one for the book of our lives! Thank you, guys, for giving us a very special night! And KUDOS to Owner Alex for empowering Chef Josh to think outside the box. My Facebook friends are both amazed and jealous...and I'm loving it!

We enjoyed our late lunch at the Bistro. Great menu quickly prepared and very tasty. We enjoyed the guacamole and house tortilla chips - very crunchy and the guac was so fresh and just enough kick. We also had the chili relleno - no meat, our preferred way and I had the Cuban panini. Generous portions and excellent, along with a glass of Pinot and Sierra Nevada. We'll be back when in the area. Parking was easy too. Thanks Alex!

The food is a little bit hit or miss but when it's good it is very good. I've had their poke, their chiles rellenos, and their samosas, any of which I'd eat again. I wouldn't call it authentic ethnic food, but it's very competent fusion food. Be aware, though, that the service is slow.

Teriffic customer service though no table service available. Took a while to get dinner. Everything was delicious!
