Their new chef is next level, every aspect of our dinner was excellent. I can’t wait to go back and try their steak dish after trying the meat skewers. My husband’s monkfish was one of the best renditions we’ve had.

I love North Star! The service is amazing and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. It can be noisy depending on the patrons (!) but I look forward to going there every time.Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly- menu options are sure fire and well received.

Oh dear. I want to support local businesses, but cannot recommend North Star, at least right now. On the plus side, the ambience and service were great. I like what they've done to the 1950's room. On the minus side, the food and drink were incredibly plain. Just no creativity at all. I go to restaurants to eat things I don't eat at home. My cocktail (the leaf peeper) was Rye whiskey and maple syrup -- nothing interesting/unusual/creative. Appetiser was half a head of deep fried cauliflower. No discernable sauce. No other flavoring. The salmon also has no sauce or seasonings; the fried brussels sprouts on the side were also plain, with literally no other ingredients, ditto the corn puree. If I want plain cauliflower, salmon and brussels sprouts, I can and do make them at home. All in all, a disappointing meal. As others have mentioned, many other local restaurants are better. Until the food improves I won't be back.

Our experience started the bar with one of their fall signature cocktails! The space is cozy and thoughtfully laid-out. We had dining room reservations but I can easily see enjoying a meal right there. Dinner was excellent. Once again, the menu options high-lighted the season with fresh ingredients that made it hard to choose. Don’t cheat yourself out of a starter, we went with the beet hummus and fall salad both were delicious. Our main entrees were both prepared perfectly and I was glad to steal from my partner’s plate. It didn’t take much effort to sell us on dessert once the options were presented! Our server was attentive but not overbearing. The whole experience was relaxing and flavorful. Looking forward to coming again!

Excellent meal tonight. My son and I shared the mussles appetizer and the Faroe Island salmon. Both were delicious and plenty to share. And a bottle of Verdicchio wine. Prices more than fair. Portions abundant. Good quality top notch service -very attentive. What could be better???!!

Title: A Stellar Experience at North Star From the moment we stepped into North Star, we knew we were in for a treat. The ambiance struck the perfect balance between elegance and comfort, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. Our culinary journey began with an appetizer duo that set a high bar for the evening. The crab stuffed mushrooms were a revelation, each bite bursting with rich, savory flavors, complemented by the delicate texture of perfectly cooked mushrooms. The mussels, on the other hand, were a masterclass in seafood preparation - tender, flavorful, and bathed in a sauce so good it demanded every last piece of bread to be dipped. For the main course, the chicken and burger did more than just satisfy our hunger; they captivated our palates. The chicken was cooked to succulent perfection, its flavors and textures harmonizing in a way that elevated a familiar dish into something extraordinary. The burger was equally impressive, a juicy and flavorful testament to the chef's prowess in traditional comfort food. Each main dish was a standout, showcasing the kitchen's commitment to quality and flavor. What truly set North Star apart, however, was the service. It was apparent that customer satisfaction is more than just a policy here; it's a genuine passion. The staff treated us not just as guests, but as family, adding a warm, personal touch to our meal that left us feeling pampered and appreciated. In sum, North Star is not just a restaurant; it's a culinary haven that we plan to return to for years to come. Whether you're a local or just passing through, do yourself a favor and visit this gem. You'll find delightful dishes, a welcoming atmosphere, and a dining experience that feels like coming home.

i’d like to be excited about north star but the cooking is amateurish if we’re being generous. the food is well-intentioned but not well-executed; there is a general aura of sophistication that mostly serves as a set-up for disappointment.the service was capable, friendly, unfussy.the dining room is clean but if we’re being honest, it’s basically a large, well-appointed room adjacent to a renovated roadside inn: schitt’s creek vibes (mostly in a good way).north star aims for elevated cuisine and elevated prices but doesn’t rise high enough to justify them. they’d do better to take more of a diner approach (like eg taghkanic diner) with some basic dishes that are well-executed and then a few creative reaches. instead, the price tag just doesn’t connect with the experience. while i hope they improve and stick around, there are much better options nearby.Dietary restrictions: my wife asked for vegetables to go with the hummus that was described as being served with grilled bread. she was offered the carrots and celery. what arrived was hummus daintily squirted on the bread and then thin coins of carrots and celery that were clearly the mise for the vegetable soup. we have never seen hummus pipes onto bread as opposed to being a dip that could accommodate vehicles other than bread … and what was the imagined logic of what was going to happen with those veg?

The food preparations were good. Service was NOT good. Received our bottle of wine after everyone had finished their dinner. We tried a few of their "signature" cocktails and did not care for 2 of them. Let our server that after 2 sips they weren't palatable and were shocked to see them on our bill! When discussing this with management, these items were NOT removed. Our advice to Management...if you are going to charge extremely high prices, make it worthwhile as a dining experience. To charge for bread...3 small pieces for a table of 4! Also...train your wait staff to have judgement with regard to timing of service, etc. You notice that I haven't mentioned the food. It was good....not great...but good. I question some of the Yelp reviews , because I had the same experience when I dined here in March. We are disappointed because we dine out at least once a week and were looking forward to a new restaurant to patronize. We like to promote and support new businesses. Hopefully management will read this review and make some changes.

I totally don't take pleasure in writing a negative review, but my wife and I went here for dinner last week and we were thoroughly disappointed. It would have been one thing if the chef had tried (and failed) to make a dish that was unique, beautiful, or edible, but what we were served was nothing more than a meal we could have made at home at the age of 16.The THIRTY TWO (32!) dollar bbq chicken was, simply, a chicken breast baked in the oven with no spice (just plain chicken) served with what appeared to be grocery store potato salad and a glob of sugary bbq sauce on the side of the plate that flowed into the potatoes. Probably the worst $32 plate I've ever had in my life. Boring taste, boring idea, boring presentation. My wife had the TWENTY EIGHT ($28) dollar stir fry which was equally bad and poorly prepared and presented. Another meal that appeared to be prepared by my 16 year old self with little to no cooking experience. Overly sauced in soy, boring, ugly, forgettable.I think this place has potential, but they NEED a new chef immediately. I don't know who's back there, but they shouldn't be near a kitchen.Even if this meal came to $20, we would have been disappointed. Hell, even $15. But no, it came to over $70 after tax and tip (no drinks, no desert).
