What a wonderful find! It had every little item that makes a stay perfect. Since dogs were welcome we were wishing there was a dog we could pet then we walked around the corner after our wonderful dinner and was greeted by one of the owner’s pup! It was just the icing on top. Would 100% recommend!!
Such a wonderful stay
Simply fabulous all around! Thoughtfully appointed rooms with special extras including a mini bar, exceptional restaurant with a sophisticated bar warm and cozy. Staff is friendly, fun and welcoming.
Reid, who we had the pleasure of meeting, is a super Host.
A stay at Alander feels like visiting with friends.
We will be back soon.
Cozy room and the North Star restaurant is a gem! Don’t miss it.
Very convenient to the rail trail! Clean, modern but cozy room. We really appreciated the complimentary yogurt, granola, and coffee. Renee was great at keeping us supplied in coffee. We loved the restaurant as well. The bar is so warm and snug. Our bartender/server Kimberly was very attentive. We will be back!
It is a fine motel, but not an upscale hotel or anything. The beds were so soft we were on the box springs. The floor under the bed was dirty so my feet kept getting filthy when I got in the bed. They filled the room with a bunch of minibar snacks they wanted you to pay for, so there wasn't any counter space and the fridge was half full. The paint was peeling in the bathtub and it didn't drain well.
Maybe I would have overlooked all of that if our our check in process was smoother, we got there at 3:45 pm for a 3:00 check in the office was locked and there is a sign on the door that says you need to check yourself in, I filled out the form and it said I was supposed to get a text and then nothing happened. I rang the doorbell and knocked on the office door, I called the number on the sign 5 times and left 3 voicemails. We tried to go to the restaurant that was supposed to be serving happy hour at 4, and no one was there. We started looking for another place to stay. Finally after 30 minutes someone came out and sent me the text I was supposed to get. And we got to go to our room at 4:15.
After we got checked in the staff was very friendly and I did like the free granola. We won't be staying there again though.
We stayed two nights at The Alander in Copake, NY and can’t say enough good things. Reid and Jason have poured care and intention into refurbishing this former motel into a beautiful boutique hotel, with subtle touches that make every guest feel at home. We arrived late—around 10 p.m., after a five-hour drive, and were greeted with a warm bowl of rigatoni, a Caesar salad, and a glass of wine from their on-site restaurant, The North Star. That thoughtfulness set the tone for our stay. A wholehearted 10/10; we’re already excited to return!!
Lovely place. Everyone is very nice as well. Surprisingly nice showers!
Our stay at The Alander was incredible! Renee went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and more! Extra towels, silverware, coffee, etc., she was there to help. The complimentary in-house granola was delicious and the locally sourced yogurt was a family favorite. If you are in the Hudson area, this is definitely the place you want to stay!
The Alander settled in a valley north of everything that wants to make you rush on by, there’s even a horse farm across the street.
The hotel rooms are arranged, perpendicular to the highway and go deeper back then is expected, the gaslit fireplaces in the center are a nice surprise as well as the hanging lanterns over the archway. All the staff is very friendly and cordial, and the Northstar restaurant is attached to the right side of the building and has an open Lawn area with picnic tables and grassy Knowles, Pay attention when you make your reservation and get your email from the hotel, you have to upload a photo of a government issued ID, and be prepared to follow instructions for access to the rooms, which are WIRELESS, and keyless. Refrigerators in every room as well as snacks and drinks for purchase. Hotel Staff is around to help in case you need assistance with their Wi-Fi resources. I would book well in advance because the fall is coming and these rooms, which are very nicely appointed, will definitely fill up fast. Thank you for a great stay! Sincerely, The Motorcycle Guys from LONG ISLAND!

We were so happy to find this place! It's a real gem with real character among a whole lot of venerable/expensive inns and shabby overpriced motels that do in a pinch. The decor and details (e.g., funky snacks, chatty notes) are cute and clever without TRYING TOO HARD to be cute and clever. Like, we didn't feel like we weren't hip enough to be there. AND it's affordable! Drinks and dinner were delicious and the servers super-friendly. Nice big lawn in back--feels far enough from Rte 22, though it's literally yards away. The ONLY thing I would suggest is piping a little mellow music out to the restaurant patio; it felt a little TOO quiet on a Sunday night before it filled up more. But yah, we will be back!
Lovely stay at boutique hotel!!
We had a fantastic stay! The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, and the thoughtful touches in the room made us feel right at home. We loved the cozy reading nook and appreciated having all the essentials—fridge, TV, coffee machine, and more.
The North Star restaurant served delicious, flavorful meals, and the wood-burning fire pit was a perfect spot to relax and reconnect with friends. The team made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay.
Would definitely recommend and return!
Great staff, professional and accommodating! The comfortable bedding really was a something to look forward to after a day of exploring. We loved the community fire pits! Please support this local business and all the other farms along the way!
Go to unplug and unwind!
Great spot! We enjoyed our stay there tremendously
The hosts and crew were kind and friendly, the restaurant had a great menu and the fire pits and string lights were a nice touch
The beds were also magical, so soft and luxurious! Made for excellent sleep and an overall great weekend in nature!
We stayed at the Alander this weekend, and we had a 10/10 experience. The room was cute and clean (a teeny bit buggy-- a couple flies were hanging around). The AC kept us nice and cool, and the mattress and pillows were extremely comfortable. Having access to snacks and wine in the room was clutch. We got dinner (walk in, no rez) at The North Star restaurant both nights, and it was exceptional both times. Excellent food and cocktails, friendly staff, gorgeous patio. We also used the word burning fire pit all night. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the local wineries, breweries, or Taconic State Park.
