The only thing this place really has going for it was the atmosphere and the friendly staff, the food was TERRIBLE!
I started with French onion soup. It was literally just onion soup with a piece of baguette in it, there was NO melted, bubbly delicious cheese on top. For my dinner, I had the flat iron steak. It had absolutely NO flavor, there was not a drop of seasoning in site, not even charbroil flavor. It had a chemical taste and was the toughest piece of meat I have ever had in my life. The potato puree was nothing to rave about and the single carrot was, well...just a roasted carrot. Needless to say, the dinner was left, didn't even take the doggy bag to-go.The only thing that was remotely edible was the dessert - Peanut butter tart, which was pretty tasty. Nice layer of chocolate over creamy peanut butter filling, can't really go wrong there.
For the price on the menu and the rave reviews I had seen online, I definitely expected more. The only thing that I would maybe come back for is drinks on the rooftop, and I would make sure I ate at home before I did.

We had an incredible dining experience at Day Line Rooftop Restaurant! From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations.

The food was absolutely delicious. The short ribs were perfectly portioned — just the right amount to leave us satisfied. The scallops, while more of an appetizer-sized portion, were so flavorful that we couldn’t resist ordering a second round. Every bite was incredible!

The drinks were also fantastic — well-crafted and nice and strong, exactly how they should be.

The ambiance was simply amazing. The rooftop setting is stunning, with a beautiful atmosphere that made the evening feel extra special.

A huge shoutout to Peyton, Michael, and Poppy — they were incredibly accommodating and made sure our experience was perfect. Their attentive service truly stood out and added to the overall enjoyment of the evening.

We highly recommend Day Line Rooftop Restaurant for anyone looking for delicious food, great drinks, and an unforgettable rooftop experience!

My husband and I recently visited Day Line Rooftop Restaurant for dinner and had a truly delightful experience. The new menu exceeded our expectations with its exceptional flavors and beautiful presentation. I enjoyed the rack of lamb, which was incredibly tender, while my husband’s skirt steak was cooked to perfection.

We started the evening with the mansion street cocktail and shrimp—a fantastic prelude to the meal. And finished our evening with the chocolate peanut butter tart. Absolutely delicious!

The staff was attentive and friendly, contributing to the overall warm and inviting atmosphere. Whether you’re planning a cozy date night or a celebration, this place is well worth a visit.

We’re already looking forward to our next trip back!

First visit last night for dinner, and we were looking forward to experiencing this new restaurant; don't think we could have been more disappointed.

Atmosphere: While the interior could be considered "funky modern" it was more like eating in a 1-1/2 story banquet room with fluorescent lights; in the evening there are very few areas where light is focused, so the overall effect is an uncomfortable "haze". The long bar is inexplicably located right in the middle of the main room, blocking the windows looking out towards the river; locating it towards the back of the room would have opened up the entire front of the room to water views for diners. The modern "pop" music playing was a strange contrast to the setting. And while the outdoor deck faces the river, only the small middle section has glass walls; the rest of the deck has seating set behind solid walls, which one can't see over when sitting. You have to wonder if the "designer" ever visited the site.

Food & drink: With the owner being a sommelier, it is odd that there is such a limited selection of wines (all by the glass; 10 whites, 3 rose', and 4 red?). One of us ordered cranberry juice with soda, which ended up being soda with "a splash" of juice. The dozen oysters we sampled were very good, but it went WAY downhill from there. Baby kale salad had an odd aftertaste after some bites, somewhat chemical (like a cleaner?) so not sure what that was all about. The Uni & caviar nachos were strange: potato chip like base was nothing special, and the seafood ingredients were hard to find (see lighting comment above) and certainly insufficient in quantity to warrant $32 cost. The paella was downright terrible: rice was dry (nothing like real paella cooked slowly over a fire WITH LIQUID), and the chorizo sausage indecipherable (when asked, the server advised the chorizo was minced so we wouldn't be able to detect it.....say what?). There was little seafood (6 small clams & 4 small shrimp) in the dish, so our advice would be to avoid this if you have even a remote idea of what a seafood paella is.

Service: Our server was pleasant, if not slightly inattentive. After delivering the aforementioned cranberry juice, she corrected the drink for us when asked and advised "yeah, I noticed that but figured I'd give bartender the benefit of the doubt".....really? When a second drink was ordered we saw her bring it close to our table but left on the bar when she was asked something before reaching us: there it sat for about 10 minutes, until we got up and retrieved it ourselves. When asked for a salt shaker she responded that she thought there was one somewhere and set out to look....only to find it 10 minutes later on the waitress stand right next to our table.

Given the price & portions of food, our post-meal consensus was that this might be a nice place for a drink (as long as you're not looking for a wide selection of wines) on a nice day to view the outdoors (as long as you can snag a table with a view inside, or one of the few seats outside where your view is not blocked by the wall).

What an outstanding 👏 place to dine. Great food, great service (Max) and great drinks. This is our second time here ... the first time was sitting at the bar sucking down oysters and drinking rum ... this time as a sit-down meal. Worth the drive!!

This place is a high end restaurant serving exceptional food with both amazing flavors and visual presentation. Al the titles of dishes are not what you get, in a good way. Crabcakes are 90% crab rather than 90% filler. Cerviche is served with matching citrus that takes it to another level. Service is attentive and kind. I live in Boston and NYC, but if I lived nearby I would dine here every week. Bravo!!

We had a fabulous time at Day Line Oyster Bar + Kitchen. The entire area has been renovated and looks incredible, especially the gorgeous hotel where this restaurant is located. We had been before during winter when we sat indoors and it was lovely. This time we dined on the balcony. The view is stunning and the service was impeccable. Our appetizers, meals and drinks were all expertly prepared and served promptly. The bread is made fresh, so takes about 15 minutes, which the server tells you right away. It is worth the wait! Served piping hot with three spread options, I would eat there just for the delicious bread! I had the salmon which was incredible. A couple of people in our party had the lobster rolls, which were enormous and overflowing, plus served with deliciously prepared potatoes. One of us got the paella and could not stop raving about it. After we ate, we had the most incredible desserts and a couple of us moved to the super comfy lounge chairs to finish our drinks. Overall an incredibly great experience for a special birthday dinner with a large party, but it would make a perfect date night place too!

Horrible experience at Dayline. We were staying at the hotel and thought we’d give the restaurant there a try.

To start: 90+ degree weather and there’s no AC. But the interior design is nice and you have a good view of the Hudson.

We had made a reservation and got sat promptly. This is where it goes downhill. We don’t get acknowledged until an HOUR in where we get water and get asked for drinks. Drink order is taken and then we wait more. Drinks surprisingly come out quick and are tasty. We place our food order as the drinks came out because that was the only chance we even spoke to our server. Now we wait again. 40 mins in we get our raw bar stuff. Then we wait another 20 for the salad and then wait even longer for the entree. The table next to us had the same exact issue where they actually complained and then all of a sudden got their food right away. We ate very quickly in hopes to just get out of there because it was such a bad experience. Only saving grace was the server apologized but then said she couldn’t fire the whole ticket at once because everything had to be coursed. ……. Probably just said that to by the kitchen more time.

Food:
Oysters - they were good. The mignonette was good as well.

Salmon Tartare - absolutely tasteless topped with a stale wonton chip. Embarrassing. Covered in mayo. So much going on with nooo flavor. And 3 dots of freaking Sriracha. Chef really outdone himself on this one.

Dayline Salad - bed of arugula with beets. Once again, no flavor. Pathetic salad. You can tell the theme of this menu.

Uni Nachos - don’t know why but we ventured into this. What we got was stale/soggy potato chips topped with lobster knuckles that had no flavor and 3 slivers of uni that were not from Santa Barbara. The caviar on it made the “nachos” even more fishy rather than adding any salinity to it. Once again horrible flavorless dish. I’m sure in the mind it sounded all great but the execution was…

Crab Carbonara - what in the world is this. I should have cancelled the order after I saw the girl in front with a large party ate it and gave the nasty look. You guessed it. Flavorless and disgusting. It DID have a good portion of crab in there.

Paella - FINALLY a dish with some flavor. Filled with shrimp, lobster, and clams. Flavors were all there. But still clumps of overcooked rice balled together that were separated during the pick up process.

All in all I would save your money and TIME for somewhere else. This place needs a menu revamp and more training. A ton of better restaurants in the Hudson which is 30 mins or Matilda (40mins) for a higher end experience.

Incredible all around. The venue was opened for a Greene County Chamber event I was fortunate enough to attend. Everything was perfect. Venue and atmosphere were awesome. High ceilings, large attractively well stocked bar, amazing waterfront views, delicious food and delightful service. Made for an awesome night that many enjoyed!

The food and drinks were excellent! Highly recommend the crab cakes, smoked trout dip, and filet - the croissant bread pudding and crème brûlée are so good! Espresso martini is also a great cocktail option.

What an abundant disappointment ?

I read the review in the TU a while back, being a huge foodie and Purnomo restaurant fan, looked for the first occasion to make reservations so Mother’s Day it was.

My husband and I have regularly dined at Yono’s for special occasions, dp’s for Albany events nights and so expected Day Line to live up to what we know AND the TU review. Omg ? soooo much no.

Our reservation was for 3 pm. We were seated beside an un-bussed table for 45 minutes. I made eye contact with the waitress bussing the table who had the good sense to pay attention to us. She asked if we were being helped which was a huge no. Let me clarify—this place is not big—we counted maybe 6 staff on the floor and perhaps 50-60 diners. She took drink orders and we had the presence of mind to place our entire food order immediately bc we’d no idea if we’d get attention again anytime soon. She assured us she’d stage things. I asked the price of the MP ceviche and she didn’t know. I ordered it anyhow.

Our drinks came reasonably quickly sometime before 4 pm. At about 4 pm we got the CONDIMENTS for the bread service we ordered with the statement that “the bread would be just a couple more minutes.” And then… …nothing. I again made eye contact with our sever who came up and said that the bread was taking longer than expected. 4:15, the “bread” came out—different server. It wasn’t bread—it was more like popovers—quite good but not bread.

Then yet another different server brought us our calamari and crab cakes. The crab cakes were amazing—dense and almost all crab. So much for staging because then our original server brought the reminder of our items a mere 5 minutes later. There was no room on our small table for everything so we were scrambling to combine it all.

Their purportedly awesome uni & caviar nachos? Uni was nowhere to be seen. It was a small pile of soggy potato chips (not kidding) and lobster meat (quite ample) and a smattering of caviar. The ceviche was evidently salmon with a mango salsa—presented on a toasted taco shell.

It’s worth mentioning that EVERYTHING was over-salted and I love salt. My husband originally wondered why we weren’t offered salt & pepper. We found out why.

All right, you’ve read this far… I excused the bad reviews I read because I felt people complained about trivial things—namely service. Well, they weren’t wrong because the service was abysmal. But the food was barely any better.

Finally, EVERYTHING—and I mean EVERYTHING—came with a mayonnaise-based sauce. Ceviche which should be light and citrus-y—yeah, mixed with mayo. Calamari—again, mayo-based dip. Uni (?) and caviar nachos—drizzled with mayo sauce. Crab cakes? MAYO dip.

Beautiful venue. Wonderful cocktails. Horrible service. Worse food. Some of it was good (crab cakes, ample lobster meat (should have been uni) — think $32 for soggy cold potato chips and mayo. Spent $200 and wish we’d gone literally anywhere else.

We traveled from the Cap Region where there is plenty of fine dining and amazingly, unexpectedly good small places. Why Coxsackie residents or travelers would pay for this is unknown to us ??‍♀️
