On a 65 dollar soft shell lobster dinner, charged extra for a salad. And pulled a nasty long hair out of my mouth while eating it. Waitress asked if I wanted a new salad. This place has gone downhill as far as value, quality, and portions. I won't be eating there anymore. Sorry, not sorry.

It's gone downhill in the last few years. My wife and I with a couple of friends had dinner there 2 years ago, and everything that could go wrong, went wrong.

I decided to give it another swing for my birthday yesterday, simply because I wanted raw oysters.

We started by having the waitress spill the oyster water/ice on me. She apologized and said she was new. Fair enough.

She also brought me a can of beer I didn't order. Instead of being a jerk, I tasted it, found it acceptable and let it slide.

The oysters and my wife's steamers didn't disappoint.

Her salad and my soup come out next. She's 3 bites into her salad and picking out the brown lettuce. I only had a cup of chowder, but I wasn't finished when the entrees showed up. Her $75 King Crab legs were stone cold and she sent them back to get heated. My $55 twin lobster tails were lukewarm at best.

At that point, I really wanted to just get up and leave, but we salvaged it. I grumbled through my tails and they were kind enough to sing me Happy Birthday for dessert.

$259.21 after a $40 tip. I still tipped the young lady, as she was very sweet and nice, but I think she yet has a lot to learn.

I don't know who orchestrated the timing of the food, but that was completely fumbled.

We may go back over the summer just for the oysters and clams, unless I find a better option.

It's too bad. My father was very fond of the Saratoga location for years.

I ordered a poboy and it was terrible, they made bread ok not the French type but a good try, I wanted fried ousters but they were what three and no one puts tomatoes on it. The wife ordered the French dip and the meat was full of grizzle. So we drive 60 miles to get here and I don’t know what the attraction is but it was awful

Always loved reds. Great atmosphere. Chef maybe a little heavy-handed with salt at times. Food is reasonable and tasty.

Fantastic food. We enjoyed fried green tomatoes with goat cheese, chicken cordon Bleu, and my favorite fried seafood platter. The fresh fried scallops and mussels are a must try.

Same day reservation, St Patricks specials, attentive server, low noise, great food good value.
Grouper hollandaise- the fish was like butter.
Shepherds pie- plenty of lamb, tasty gravy, very satisfying. Had to take desert home. 👍

The food had no taste, was priced accordingly for for a restaurant that actually gave a damn but this place not so much. That said I could just be the chef working the night I went, but honestly it tasted like microwaved bullshit.

As an Olympic sports journalist married to a NYC stylist, we have experienced exceptional dining around the world but over the decades Red's still remains among our nearest and dearest favourites. The seafood meets or exceeds any coastal metropolitan venue; the depth, breadth and economy of the menu is exceptional, and the floor staff always kind and attentive. Plus the diners club membership is a great added value. We live in Albany and would rather take our business south to Red's than eat anywhere in the Capital District (or Saratoga for that matter). There really IS 'something about Red's.'
