I'm 3 hours away from home, it's lunchtime, it's a diner; I don't extpect much but a reasonable lunch. I got the special: meatloaf, with mixed veggies. The meatloaf was fine, quite hearty in fact; better than the bland stuff at many diners. What impressed me were the veggies. I expected them to be soft, overcooked, but what i got was a pleasing mix of nicely grilled, somewhat crisp beans, broccoli, carrots, etc. Certainly better than your average diner....
Bring your appetite. Ask fythe gravy for the fries on the side. Plan to share the fries (or maybe the whole lunch!). I am a hearty eater and I could finish it, neither could my FIL. I had a fried chicken wrap and he had the ham club. We both got fries. Next time, one of us will get fries with, 2 sides of gravy, one for each of us. My MIL had the clam chowder soup of the day. The waitress was a pleasure to place our order with. Attentive and came by several times to see if we needed anything else.
The meals were large portions and delicious at reasonable prices.
