My family and I absolutely adore red rooster. We come to this area on vacation yearly and always come 2-3 times in one week here. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is fun and cozy and the service is exceptional. I wish this spot was near my home!! I’d be their best guest. Til next summer red rooster

This is a hidden gem on the North Fork. The shopsa salad is excellent and there is usually a unique special. The regular menu is also full of good choices. I look forward to returning for an encore.

Amazing meal... had the paté appetizer and the ribeye as my main course. Everything was prepared perfectly and was artfully presented. Reservations are highly recommended, as they get busy FAST.

It pains me to write this review about a restaurant I have loved for years, but I can’t overlook the rudeness and poor customer service we encountered during our recent visit. The food is still amazing—an excellent assortment of French-American cuisine in a relaxed, country-style setting. From burgers and salads to classic dishes like Beef Bourguignon and Steak au Poivre, the menu has always impressed me. However, during our lunch today with my parents and a family friend, our experience was marred by an unexpected charge. We traveled nearly an hour to dine here, and while my mom and I decided to share an entree, my dad and friend each ordered their own meals. Our bill totaled $204, and we noticed that our Boeuf Bourguignon, listed at $36, had an additional $5 charge for splitting the meal. When my dad questioned this, the owner simply stated, “it is what it is because it’s posted on the menu,” and refused to remove the charge. My parents were upset, so I approached the manager in hopes of resolving the situation. Unfortunately, this only escalated the issue. Rather than addressing our concerns, she became defensive and dismissive. I suggested that they communicate the split meal charge more clearly, as it was in small print at the bottom of the menu. Instead of acknowledging our feedback, she raised her voice and insisted that we should have already known about the charge since we’re regular customers. Her response was disheartening. I expressed my disappointment that she wouldn’t consider our perspective or offer an apology, to which she replied, “go ahead and write your review.” After this encounter, we all agreed not to return, which is unfortunate because of a simple $5 miscommunication on a $204 bill. The Boeuf Bourguignon, which we shared, was delicious, just as I remembered. I had planned to write a glowing review and share beautiful photos of the restaurant and our meal. Instead, I’m left feeling disappointed and frustrated by the owner’s poor customer service and inflated ego.
RUDE. If you enjoy being treated as if they could care less, by all means go here. Won't be going back. The Person that greeted was so unfriendly that I felt like I was in a skit on SNL.
Celebrated my birthday here — food was delicious, especially the sauces! Great service and cozy atmosphere. Only note: the water wasn’t filtered. Overall, highly recommend.”

This is a really cozy, family run restaurant with great, friendly service and tasty, well prepared food. 👍😋👍
Second visit Sunday, August 24th. My Chicken Valdostana tasted OK, 2 diners who had Duck said it was overdone and 1 diner had Beef bourguignon, didn't like it at all. Last night one diner spent the entire night throwing up, and I was sick this morning. Would never go back. Third diner took another day to also get very sick.

Had an excellent dinner with another couple. We split the escargot appetizer, they make an excellent sauce on this that makes everyone want to dunk their bread to make sure none remains uneaten. The Beef Bourguignon, Chicken Cordon Bleu and Chicken Milanese were all tasty main course selections. Generous portions. A nice selection of local wines made this a very worthwhile dinner. Will come back here again.
We love The Red Rooster! This family-owned restaurant in Cutchogue has been a local favorite since 1998, and it’s easy to see why. The cozy rooster-themed décor makes you feel right at home, and the menu offers something for everyone—plus, the escargot is some of the best around. Drinks and wines are reasonably priced, with great local selections. Indoor and outdoor seating make it a great choice in any season. Super family-friendly, welcoming to kids, and open for lunch daily except Monday.
