“Coffee Pot Cellars is a delightful stop on the North Fork wine trail. Just note that they are open mainly on the days around and including the weekend days. We had the privilege of meeting the winemaker, Adam, who was a great host and obviously knows his wines well. He also went to my alma mater so we had to talk about our university too. The wines were nice, but they do not expect to ship their wine unless you live in New York since they only ship in state. His wife also runs a farm and makes preserves, jams, etc and preserves Monarch butterflies. Very enjoyable stop and recommend.”

“This is a rustic simple experience - a farm with incredible wines. That's what a tasting room should be in my opinion; all about tasting wines. Authentic, estate grown and sustainable wines, the best we had all week. Don't expect air conditioning or music or anything like that. 10/10”

“Truly a hidden gem. Being a native North-forker, this is a great addition to local cuisine. The food, the setting and service are outstanding and worth every penny. Having eaten here several times, every meal (the beef bourgeoned, duck and penne ala vodka) has been outstanding. One note of criticism that hopefully ownership will hear, the menu says "crispy half duck", which one would assume means a "half duck" that includes breast, thigh and leg all in one piece. What I got was two leg quarters, or the back half of the duck leaving me to think the chef was saving the breast meat for something else. While it was delicious, I felt gipped, and if the server had told me "no breast meat" I would have ordered something else. So maybe something to think about for the future........”

Total came to just under $60, but we were able to get a ton of food for that. Pastrami Reuben, pulled pork, baked beans, pulled chicken, brisket, a few ribs, jalapeno mac n cheese, hush puppies, corn fritters, and cole slaw. When I say there wasn't a single item we didn't love I mean it. Some of the best BBQ I've had. It's clear that Larry (owner) truly loves his craft, great conversation with him too. “I'm leaving this review for 1 thing and 1 thing only - the Pasta salad w/ sun dried tomato, broccoli & chicken. It's my FAVORITE - the best I've ever had and I crave it all the time. I think someone else in the comments wrote it was "bland" or "didn't have flavor"? I guess their taste buds are VERY different than mine. Since I love it so much, it's the only thing I ever get on the rare instances I'm driving past. I make my own pasta salads, they're very easy to make but I've not been able to duplicate this one so I'm happy to enjoy it from here. No other delis in the area serve this type of specific salad (I've looked everywhere when I'm not in Cutchogue). As a local, I've been through every incarnation of delis in this location through the decades. I don't live in Cutchogue anymore so don't go here a lot unless I'm specifically going out of my way to pick up this salad so I can't judge on much else, unfortunately. I've heard others mention their homemade cold salads, which seems like the way to go here. I'd love to try more of them based on the 1 I like. I've asked my fiance to stop and he said it was too busy to get to the counter so probably a good idea to order in advance if they have that as an option (they absolutely should to make service streamlined & have less negative ratings!).”

Bedell Cellars 36225 Main Rd, Cutchogue Wineries • $$

“Bedell makes wines sustainably and has a scenic outdoor tasting space. Their tasting flight was $25/$30, and we thought their wines were good but did not find one extraordinary enough to purchase a bottle of. Also, we did not have a great tasting experience either. This was the first Long Island winery we visited and we were hoping to learn about Long Island wines during our visit but the guy pouring our wine didn't really want to talk. We each got a flight, the pre-selected one and a build your own. Instead of pouring one wine at a time, the guy rushed pouring both flights, in no order, then got confused on which was which, then directed us to carry our four glasses (without a holder) outside so by the time we got outside we really had no clue which wines were which. They also didn't give us menus so we had to pull up both the menu and tasting notes on our phones to try and guess which wine we were tasting. However the scenic view outside overlooking the vineyard was pleasant.”

“I order pizza here pretty regularly but last night I placed an order. They forgot a slice- which they refunded when I called. And I should have checked. However I got the baked pasta trio and the ricotta cheese in the stuffed shells and manicotti and lasagna was sour. It must have gone bad. So that $20 dish was thrown in the garbage. The marina very bland. I admit I was surprised. I chalk it up to life but hope someone checks that cheese because I wasn’t the only one that tasted it. Didn’t feel like calling again to complain after calling during dinner to say I never got a slice. Service is always friendly and prompted. Sometimes it’s busy and some of the reviews here show that they have never worked in a restaurant, especially after 2020- it stresses me out going anywhere. I can’t imagine how it is dealing with these fragile attitudes day in and day out. The ladies up front definitely work hard.”

We just asked about it and then she said she forgot to take it off so we just told her if she took it off to just keep it as part of the tip we already left. Also we ordered mussels but felt like we took out a lot of empty shells. We found some in the broth but was alot of empty more than would be. Enough that we both questioned it. so we will try again.B loves the cornbread. I just remember the key lime pie I had last year for my bday. Yum!OLD REVIEW: I thought I already left a review but realized I didn't. “This is a follow up to our 2023 review of R., Aire at the Hampton Maid in Hampton Bays. As superb as R. Aire was during the past eighteen months, recent visits underscore that the restaurant continues to reach new culinary heights under Chef and Owner Alex Bujoreanu. In a landscape of high priced and often mediocre restaurants on the East End, R. Aire is a unique venue - a chef driven restaurant which offers sophisticated cuisine inspired by the classics of Spain - in an elegant, serene setting - and at moderate prices.Although we have previously taken note of R. Aire’s outstanding signature paellas, the “non rice” sections of the menu offer a range of equally delicious dishes - all made with the finest (and often local) ingredients and reflecting the chef’s masterful synthesis of both classical and modern influences. For example, Chef Bujoreanu offers an amazing Fideua - a short grain pasta dish cooked in the method of paella (in a paella pan) in a richly flavored sofrito. R. Aire’s Fideua is a textural wonder, served two ways - as a seafood and squid ink classic or a rustic wild mushroom and duck version. Fideua is rarely offered in the U.S. - these renditions are authentic and superb.R. Aire’s appetizers and small plate “pinchos”offer an array of delectable choices, from flavorful morsels of grilled lamb (Morunos), aromatic grilled Shishito peppers, succulent octopus, airy meatballs and a lovely heirloom beet salad. One could construct a deeply satisfying dinner from these perfectly composed small plates. In addition to the Fideua and traditional paellas for which R. Aire is known - the paellas have a perfect “socarrat” base and are cooked to order and served in individual paella pans - the non rice dishes are equally impressive. Memorable main courses include pristine local sea scallops, breast of duck, Iberico pork and a filet mignon of Wagyu beef. This is cooking at a very high level. The service at R. Aire is warm and inviting. The restaurant’s gracious manager, Grigore, provides an attentive hands on presence in the dining room; he is clearly focused on delivering the service and hospitality which has been the restaurant’s credo since it opened. It should be noted the restaurant’s wine list has continued to evolve, offering a range of wines from Spain and the U.S. and other wine regions from excellent producers - and at fair prices. In a world of formulaic restaurants and homogeneous food, R. Aire stands out for its warmth, value and brilliant cooking. Bravo to Chef Bujoreanu and his team for creating a special venue in Hampton Bays.”

150 Bergen Ave, Mattituck - 4.63 miles

“I have been a wine club member at Macari for quite some time and I wish I visit more often to enjoy some of the members’ benefits. I managed to visit this past Saturday with some guests from out-of-state. I wanted to seize the moment and showcase New York/Long Island wine country. Macari did not disappoint!Macari is aesthetically pleasing, from the wine bar to the indoor tasting room which gives way to the closed-in deck. The effort to simple details was not missed by us – for example, the furniture on the closed-in deck is iron but there are sheepskin throws (synthetic fur) on each chair which warms up the whole appearance.Service was superb – our waiter (I am bummed I do not remember his name) eloquently described the wines as he poured. He was warm and invited us to inquire about any of the wines. We started our tasting with the Sparkling Pino Noir (I strongly recommend this sparkling) – the flavors of the berries were profound and quite refreshing. We continued with Macari’s different Chardonnays, Tocai Friulano (this wine is only available in the tasting room and not available for online purchase as I have tried to order it). And we wrapped up our tasting with the Dos Aguas. Dos Aguas is a medium body blend which paired very well with their pizza.Tasting Room Notes –I would like to see Macari showcase Bergen Road as a part of its tasting menu. It is a gem and one of Macari’s greatest reds (full body).I love the pizza menu which is new (first time for me). It is a great benefit when one can go wine tasting and have lunch at the same place/time.And, Oh la la – the new addition - The Olive Oil! – it has such a punch. I came home with 2 bottles. Offers baguettes and you will have me coming back!Hints – reservation is strongly recommended, even for wine club members.”
