Based on the excellent reviews, we were excited to visit Maizal. We left underwhelmed.
We may try again one more time, in case we just encountered a bad night, but based on our experience we aren't in a hurry to go back. Its a real shame, since it seems like a lot of thought and care went into the restaurant.
Also, it is incredibly loud inside. I could barely speak with my partner, even though he was sitting right next to me.

Best Mexican food in WNY in my opinion. Staff is always positive and kind. Food is always consistent and delicious. Only downside is that it makes it difficult to decide what to order because its all so good. Great portion sizes and the pricing is fair for what you get. I always leave happy and full.

I’m sitting here in disbelief. It’s a Sunday with minimal traffic. The bartender hasn’t stayed behind the bar for more than 30 seconds before completely disappearing for 15 minutes at a time. We waited 10 mins just for a drink menu. 25 mins for the check. The couple next to us also said “I think we’re getting punked”
Dirty plates were being put into buckets on the floor.
The bartender also invited a family with their young child to sit at the bar.
The establishment could use some more staffing for sure. We still tipped 20% because I don’t think this was the staff’s fault.
The chorizo tacos were good. The plating was messy.

The food was decent, not fantastic but not horrible. It didnt taste like authentic Mexican. Also, our margaritas tasted like they were mixed with rubbing alcohol and 20 limes.

If you have a peanut allergy, watch out. I told the waitress that I had a peanut allergy and my concerns about cross contamination with mole sauce, and she reassured me that I would be fine. Later that night I had a reaction. Be careful!

Most amazing experience. Staff is educated in mezcal arena. Food is like nothing I've ever had, in the best way. Takes over an hour to get here, but I will keep returning!

Have been here a few times. Today was amazing... Service, food etc. I'm gluten intolerant and was able to have the battered mahi mahi because they use negra Modelo beer which is wheat free.. service was excellent
Great tequila bar. Fantastic food.
Bright, fun place with great food and service. I would highly recommend for slightly upscale Mexican.
