I really liked the ambiance of this place. I ordered takeout and was helped right away. It had a family owned feeling to it which I really liked. The chicken was AMAZING and the macaroni was off the charts. Definitely recommend

The chicken and waffle was literally 3 pieces of chicken wings with 2 small pieces of waffles. Not really worth it.

When you miss your favorite Aunts Mac and cheese, or get excited cause she made her incredible sweet potatoes just for you, Carolyn's is just amazing comfort food.

You know when food is so good it feels like a hug from mom? You will if you go sit down at Carolyns!

My daughters and I ordered last night and they said to give you 5 stars. They loved your chicken strips and I love your mash! It was all yum. Will definitely order again and tell our friends. Oh & the lemonade we loved! The best I've had.

I found Carolyn's Cuisine online and went to taste for myself and I enjoyed the food. I had to coordinate the repass for the passing of my aunt and I ordered chicken, whiting, catfish, greens, and yams. Everyone enjoyed the food and took to go plates. Thank you to the staff for all your help with getting everything to the car. I highly recommend them.

So I last night I had a taste for some Soul Food. I read an article in Newsday about the best Soul Food in Long Island and I chose Carolyn's I had already had been to 2 of the other 5. Brother Robinson Genesis Soul Food in Hempstead had closed and that was my goto spot. So, I decided to take a drive with my wife and try Carolyn's Cuisine. If you are coming from the West it is on the right hand side next to the Wantagh Pkwy on Hempstead Turnpike. I couldn't find it at first because of the change in daylight savings time the light to illuminate the sign hadn't been on yet.I walked in and it is a small restaurant but was very clean, nice wood decor, love the placemats, smelled like good food, with a nice bar at the end. The young lady who greeted us was polite and patient. Although you could scan a QR code and bring up the menu on your phone she still offered me a menu which I appreciated. I ordered the fried chicken, mac and cheese, yams and I ordered some banana pudding. My wife ordered the fried shrimp, mac and cheese, collards, and peach cobbler. They prepared the food as we waited for a short while. The owner was extremely pleasant and expressed that she hoped we would enjoy our food. She even spoke with me for a while. I can't lie I was so hungry from fasting that day, when I got in the car, I said "Let me try a piece of chicken" (I had 3). Man! It was exactly what I was looking for!Upon arriving home, we sat down and dug in. I've been eating smaller portions so I thought I'd leave one piece of chicken left... nope! Everything was delicious. Really flavorful. Met my expectations and exceeded in some areas. Two things though: 1. This is not a cheap meal, it is meant to be a sit down restaurant, so prices although not expensive were $45. It's not breaking the bank but I believe Brother Robinson's used to be cheaper (but the service was iffy and it was buffet food that you chose from). This is prepared as you wait. 2. the shrimp looked lonely in the take out container. It might have been 10 shrimp but in the main compartment of the container it didn't look like a lot. I don't usually give out 5 stars because nothing is perfect and you can't give out half stars but even if I could I'd say it's pretty close to 5 stars. We will be back and this place will certainly get busy!

Very upset. After calling to confirm their hours of operation, which it was supposed to be at 9pm, we drove from Suffolk county exit 50 , only to find them closed at 8:10 pm. We saw the workers inside but no one would open the door. We attempted to call, but had to call several times before they would answer, Only to say, something came up. This is why I'm forced to give my money to the other communities. You try to support your own, but at a whim they choose to close earlier than the designated time. If you close at 9, your doors should be open at 8:10. Even if it's just kool aid to serve. What a damper to black owned businesses that are really trying. No excuses, there's always a backup plan......

The restaurant is small inside, but do have a few tables and a bar area to sit to eat in. The wait staff is 2 young people and slow, no sense of urgency to take your order. They don't have that many menus out for customers, no menu sign either. The menus are on paper, should be laminated to wipe off, especially since Covid is still here. The food is well priced, for to include 2 sides for entrees. Soft drinks are $4.00, pretty high so didn't order . Ordered 3 take out meals, was told it would take 25 minutes. Well it took almost an hour. Most of their customers order and pick up or use pickup service. Staff told my husband that there were several orders made online before us, which why we were waiting so long (by that time no one was eating in the restaurant). The food was delicious, I ordered catfish dinner, cabbage & Mac & cheese. My daughter ordered 3 pc fried chicken (out of bbq chicken), corn and sweet potatoe fries (extra side). My husband ordered catfish, cabbage & garlic potatoes. Everything was spectacular! Got peach cobbler, banana pudding & cheesecake. Also wonderful! Came to $65, but that's close to what you would pay nowadays in most restaurants. I recommend ordering online to pick up or get pick up service. If your hungry don't expect to get it right away, plan in advance to order your food. Expect hour wait, seem to have one cook. Gave 4 points because food is excellent!

It was my first time ordering from here and I was really impressed! Whatever guilt that I felt for treating myself to the amazing BBQ beef and mac and cheese was quelled by the collard... which made me feel healthy enough to justify the meal. This food was delicious. It was also extremely filling. Pick up was a breeze too. I'm definitely coming back in the future! I loved it!

Food was great but poor customer service is a sure way to sink your business. I had been a loyal customer of Carolyn's, so much so that I'd earned a $10 off discount from Uber Eats. Unfortunately a frequent issue at this restaurant is an inability to keep inventory. so true to form, my order was cancelled tonight. In cancelling the order the restaurant staff also revoked the discount I earned. When I asked to simply swap out the item over the phone for one of the exact same price I was flatly told no, thus losing any discount I earned. And when I called back to ask how it could be remedied I was simply told they "have no power" over the discount that they issued nor the order they cancelled, despite the fact that I was speaking to the establishment directly. Just a "sorry for the inconvenience". I understand that hiring young people is necessary when running a fast casual food business but if they're not trained on how to at least sound helpful to confused customers, perhaps a grown up should be running the store. I may be back but they're much lower on my list of go to's now.

Great food. If only they show up to work. There today. Lights out. I was craving it and nobody's at the store. Closed. . Don't F with my fried chicken craving. 1 star until next time.

Went for dinner with my daughter last evening. Ordered fried whiting and barbeque chicken dinners. The food was excellent. Very well flavored WITHOUT pork. Environment was very clean and the staff were very nice. Will definitely go back.
