“The restaurant was really good! This place is a small family run local restaurant that feels like an upscale place. Perfect for dates on a budget and the bento box is so worth it! The service was also very attentive. 5 stars across the board.“

“We came in on a Sunday about 8:40, well before the listed 9:30 closing time, and were warned as we came in that they actually close at 9:20. It seemed odd that it would be an issue with plenty of time to order; but apparently unlike most restaurants the closing time is a matter of when they expect you to actually leave.

Still, with seemingly enough time, we ordered, and the appetizer - soft shell crab - came quickly. Unfortunately, though it was not one of the dishes listed as “spicy”, it came with spicy mayo on top. I told the server that I can’t eat spicy food, would not have ordered it if I had known, and asked her to take it back. She gave me an argument, saying I should have told her I can’t eat spicy food. I pointed out that since they list some dishes specifically as spicy, one would assume - as in most other restaurants - that the rest are not. She reluctantly took it back, and informed us the Angel Roll we had ordered, also not labeled spicy, came with spicy mayo on top as well, so we also asked for that to be redone.

This pushed things closer to closing time, and rushed our meal a bit. But I have to say that the food was wonderful: The crab crisp outside, moist inside; the sushi fresh, and the pineapple shrimp fried rice delicious.

So despite the unfortunate attitude we encountered, this restaurant is well worth the trip for the excellent food. Just keep in mind that the closing time is not what’s listed on the website. And that it’s best, whatever the menu says, to ask details before ordering.“

“I have been searching for a new sushi spot close to home and, after many hits and misses, I finally visited Kiku Sushi Family for the first time. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the peaceful atmosphere and charming decor. The booth seating we received was perfect.

We were greeted warmly by two women as soon as we arrived, and they promptly seated us, ensuring we were comfortable. Our waitress, Sophia, was exceptional--attentive throughout our meal, making sure we were enjoying everything and checking if we needed anything else. She definitely added to our awesome experience. The service here is phenomenal!

The food was incredibly fresh, which is particularly reassuring when it comes to seafood. I tend to be fearful when trying new places that offer seafood.
The portion sizes for the meals were generous, and the sushi rolls had a fair amount of fish, not just packed with rice with the goal of filling you up.
This attention to quality was much appreciated!

Prices at Kiku Sushi Family are very reasonable, offering a great meal at a good price. The menu, while a bit old-school, is extensive with a wide variety of options--literally 100 different rolls and numerous appetizers, kitchen items, and more. Whether you're craving sushi, noodles, chicken, or beef, you'll find something to enjoy.

We ordered the chicken teriyaki with vegetables, the Godzilla roll appetizer, and the UFO ball appetizer. For sushi, we tried the Fashion roll, Rock 'n Roll, Hurricane, and Big Spider rolls. Everything was fantastic. I love trying new dishes each visit, and I'm excited to return and explore more of their menu items.

My only disappointment was that they don't accept American Express cards, but it wasn't a big issue--I just paid with cash.

“I get the shrimp tempura 3 roll combo almost every week. What makes this place different from others is their CONSISTENCY! Every week I come it’s the same great tasting quality. “I really enjoyed my lunch at Miss Sakura, a lovely family-owned restaurant. I was served by their son, Danny—he’s only 15 years old, but he’s already doing an excellent job: attentive, polite, and confident.

“This is the best sushi and sashimi spot on Long Island. This place is clean, the fish is fresh and every item we tried on the menu was delicious. We went in low expectations given sushi is better in manhattan but I feel we've found a gem locally. They had a stir friend udon noodle chicken dish which the kids devoured. I was skeptical but the udon noodles had the perfect shiitake mushrooms flavor and really were delicious. We ordered yellowtail jalepeno, another white tuna truffle, rock shrimp,edamame, gyoza, 355 roll, mikado inspiration sashimi and the chicken udon noodles. The host was sweet and helped in recommending items for our kids. The place is kid friendly. Highly recommended this place.“

“We moved from Port Washington to MA this May and have been unable to find a spot that offers everything that Aki does, not to mention at the same quality! They just execute everything so well. It was our go to for sushi, we loved the apps (the crispy rice and jalapeño yellowtail are fire), and loved also having options for classic Chinese food. “Went to Otaki Sushi for lunch and it was worth it. The service was on point; our server was super polite, always checking in, and she made sure our hot tea was never empty. The tea is really good and pipping hot not warm.

We had the salmon teriyaki bento boxes for $14, and you definitely get your money’s worth. The salmon was fresh, no fishy smell, cooked perfectly with a nice crust outside but still moist in the middle, and not drowning in sauce. It comes with broccoli, snow peas, and corn. I like my veggies crunchy so I enjoyed it, but if you like them softer, I’d just mention that when ordering.

The bento also came with California rolls, and those were really good too. Between the portion size, quality, and service, you leave full and happy. Five out of five.“
