I had been to The Carlton several years ago and when I got back in the area I knew where I had to go. This was a special occasion and I couldn't think of a better place to take my girlfriend, she had never been there before and it was the perfect place. The wait staff were attentive but not overbearing, the wine choices were excellent for the choices of dishes and the food was excellent. Just as I remembered.
We were disappointed with very slow service (1 hour wait for appetizers). The wine list was sub par and the food just ok at best. My companions had undercooked duck, but were too frustrated to send it back. There are much better choices. We wanted a special meal; for now I would avoid this venue.
We did not know that the Palm Court has a cigar lounge above it when we booked our reservation. We would not have gone had we known. The cigar smoke smell was fairly strong, and we could smell it through our masks when we walked in.The food was decent and mostly reasonably priced. The service was good and all staff wore their masks. The decor was dated but pretty. They did have it decorated for the holidays, which was nice.If you’re sensitive to smoke I wouldn’t recommend...
