Food and service excellent, kid friendly. My daughter wanted Mac and cheese, although it wasn't on the menu the chef made it for her. My little 5 year old said it was simply "delicious". I would recommend Hunter because it was great decadent and family friendly.

My in laws recommended me this restaurant as we didn't want to drive to Manhattan for our anniversary. I was disappointed to a waiter who didn't even try to apologize or do something after I ate half of salad and found hair in the plate and point to him. He just put plate away. We don't need free dish but we didn't feel hygienic concerns for this restaurant.

This restaurant is classy and trendy. It has a beautiful vibe. We had reservations on a Friday at 7 and it was pretty busy. They brought warm bread with oil & olives to the table. So good. We started with appetizers- I had the French onion soup- it was very good. I ordered the branzino as my entree- it was the best I've ever had, so fresh, you can taste the flavor and seasoning- it melted in my mouth. I also tried the halibut which was delicious. We ordered coffee to finish and skipped dessert, but they sent over complimentary dessert for the table. The Crème Caramel was to die for. Not something I would have ordered, but a must try! The cheesecake wasn't my favorite, but I appreciate it nonetheless. The service was great, even though it was busy. The prices are reasonable for the quality & portion size. Plenty of parking in the lot. They have a beautiful outdoor section they open in the summer, with string lights & it looks romantic. I plan to come back for sure. You don't want to miss this place. A new favorite for me!

Reliably delicious food, surprisingly so, the soufflé dessert was great. Service is excellent.

Unbelievable! Hunter is the gold standard in fine dining on Long Island. The incredible interior space is matched by creative and delicately balanced flavors. Everything we ate was exceptional. Hunter keeps the menu up with seasonal offerings. There really is nothing to compare it with. The staff is classy and refined and the entire dining experience is truly a guilty pleasure. Hunter has some serious fire power behind the scenes (think his talented father is often helping the show play like Chopin) thanks for gracing us with your culinary treasures.

We went to dinner here on Saturday night. We got there early about 4:45 and were seated right away. The menu is small but promising. However, the food and service both disappointed. I ordered the pan roasted chicken with a Caesar salad to start. My companion ordered the octopus appetizer and the duck l'orange for dinner. The Caesar salad had so much dill in it it was cloying. I could not eat it. We told the waiter. Instead of offering to take it off of the bill, he was rather aggressive about what we didn't like about it. We explained the aversion to the heavy dill flavor. He stared rather menacingly and simply took it away. The chicken main course was okay; nothing to write home about. The duck was lacking in flavor. Everything was seasoned with sea salt, including the lava cake desert. Sea salt has a place, but on every single dish coming out of the kitchen? Worst part is that the waiter did not even take the salad off the bill, even though it was basically untouched. Rather than remove the $26 Caesar salad, they gave us a 'complimentary' desert. Note, we already paid for a lava cake desert, so really didn't need or want another desert. I would have much preferred they removed the inedible salad. I would not go back. Do yourself a favor and just go to Rothman's across the street.

Valentine's Day dinner at Hunter was outstanding. The warnings to lessen expectations when dining out on a holiday do not apply to Hunter. Not only was our food terrific, the service was the same as any other day..exceptional! Every course we had was prepared and presented perfectly. For dessert we had the best chocolate lava cake we have ever tasted. Kudos to Hunter for making the evening special.

I only do reviews of places that I think are exceptional. As a former chef,I see way to many people on here that think they are restaurant critics. Problem is everyone can be a critic, but only a very select few can create. Which brings me to this amazing restaurant. My wife said we had dinner plans and said I would love the menu. I knew this place was going to be special when our drinks came out. I am a dirty martini/blue cheese olive fan. The olives were hand packed to the gills with a creamy dolce blue cheese. A nice touch and a sign of great attention to detail. I had in mind what I wanted to order when the waiter went through the specials. For the appetizer special..pan seared foie.....(Gras on toasted brioche.....) They had me a pan seared foie..Needless to say this classic preparation was spot on..savory, unctious, and a touch of sweetness. I should have gone with the suggested Sauternes wine to accompany but I was driving. Next time...The dinner special is veal osso bucco with a red wine reduction sauce and saffron risotto...it was like they knew me. Here again was an exceptional execution..the osso bucco was tender yet stayed firm. The gremolata on top was so nicely balanced with the parsley, garlic, and lemon zest. The saffron risotto was absolutely spot on. Rich, creamy, and full of that delicious saffron. It was hands down the best osso bucco I'd ever had and better than any I could have made. When I mentioned this to the waiter he went into to kitchen to tell the chef. A minute later..Hunter came out to the table..turns out we both worked for the same executive chef...the very talented Matt Hisiger of Panama Hatties and LB Social. Small world. I can tell you that the kitchen was spectacular...I had kitchen envy. In short...this was one of the best meals I've ever had. I am so impressed with Hunter and his crew. Run..don't walk to Hunter's.

Booked last minute date night on Wednesday and was able to get a reservation no problem. To our pleasant surprise it's 1/2 off wine bottles on Wednesdays so we started with a bottle of Caymus. Apps we ordered tuna tartar & shrimp cocktail. Then we ordered pappardelle ragu, halibut and lamb chops. Dessert was the apple tart and the grand marnier special. They also brought out limoncello and another dessert wine with dessert. We both tried all and everything was delicious! Will def be back for our date nights! Also Francisco was our waiter and was fabulous. 10/10 experience!

Complete rookie, log Island restaurant with people that don't understand food. Sat late, salty, gross and honestly overvalued on every level. I cannot believe that people join this restaurant for an evening. sorry Hunter. - you won't miss me with the limited limited options on long island. But I will not be back.

Honestly, the food was mid. But the service is top notch and the ambiance/atmosphere is also top notch. A lot of the food was lacking salt so we asked for some and sprinkled it on top and the food began tasting slightly better. The food is good, but basic in taste. Nothing “wow” about the taste. The Tina TarTare we heard was one of their popular dishes but it tasted flavorless to us. I don’t think we’ll be back because we are foodies and want really good food. If I had to recommend something: their French Pizza, and their filet mignon special.

Came upon Hunter on OpenTable, Glad I did. We came on a Sunday night wasn’t too busy. We were seated right away. The servers and all the workers were very cordial. The food and drinks were exceptional. The Mediterranean mule is a must of the cocktail menu if you come here. we got the grilled octopus as appetizer, then the lamb chops and the duck as mains. All were 5/5. To top it of we got the mango creme caramel which was amazing. The prices are on the higher side, but if the quality is this good, I wouldn’t mind paying it. Definitely a hidden gem on LI.

Another terrific dinner at Hunter. We tried the red snapper special and it was cooked perfectly and was full of flavor with the addition of shrimp, clams and a red sauce. We brought a friend who had never been to the restaurant and she was blown away by the service (Francisco, of course) the food, and the overall ambiance. So happy to have discovered this special place. As always, we look forward to our return.
