I once got carry out from this place on my way home back to DC. Everything I ORDERED was absolutely the worst tasting Indonesian food. I remember the cook looking out of the kitchen to see who was ordering. All the food looked like leftovers. No color in food, except brown to light brown. A WASTED $50. i WOULD NEVER COME HERE AGAIN. I have lived in Indonesia and that order doesn't make it. Makanan yang tidak enak!

Indonesian food and service at this place is excellent. Went there on a Friday I think. Definitely worth going back to. It has a nice atmosphere. They have so many reviews for a reason.

They definitely serve the most authentic Indonesian food of all the restaurants in New York. This is from someone who grew up there. Beef rendang is my favorite but if you're a vegetarian their Gado Gado is the best

I've been to other Indonesian restaurants in New York but Upi Jaya definitely serves the most authentic Indonesian food of all. Beef Rendang and Satay are my favorite. If you're a vegetarian their Gado Gado is the best. So if you happen to be in New York and looking for true Indonesian delicacies at reasonable price, don't miss this place. Highly recommended.

I was surprise the portion of my orderThey charge more than the regular price, the gado2 coming with small container and they increase the price also the avocado before coming with medium cup , now they put on the small cup the price increase too. Is not fair we pay more and you guys sale with the small portion.

The best food I have ever had in Queens. I really mean that and I am a lifelong New Yorker. Must have the beef rendang. This is a mom and pop restaurant so the service may be a little slow, but I truly don't understand how this restaurant doesn't have all 5 star reviews. You are missing out if you don't give it a try.

My girlfriend and I love to eat here! The beef rendang is delicious, of course. But take my advice and try the gado gado, gulai kikil, ketoprak, and empal daging. And don't forget to load up on sambal if you like a little spice. The service here is great, and everyone is very friendly. We often end up getting into interesting conversations with the waiter or other patrons. It's always a fun time at Upi Jaya. And don't forget the pisang goreng for dessert!
