I absolutely loved my experiences at The Hill Top Inn in Elmira! It’s a beautiful, family-friendly venue with amazing food. The staff is fantastic—Jeremy, the bartender, and Mike, the owner, always make you feel at home. I appreciate how they take the time to visit tables and chat with customers. The combination of great food and a welcoming atmosphere makes for an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend The Hill Top Inn to anyone looking for a wonderful dining experience!

We celebrated the end of our Upstate NY trip at this lovely place. The view from the patio was exceptional but outdone by the seasonal special swordfish - perfect amount of chile spice paired with a bright pineapple garnish!!!

Food was good and the view is always pleasant but the service was crap. 20 minute wait for 1 beer & 45 minutes to bring out dessert. I understand at the end of the day we just all want to go home, but we were just completely ignored. Some of us have kids we had to go pick up and didn’t make it home till really late. You guys don’t open till afternoon but I have to be up at 5. I don’t think I’ve ever waited that long for dessert, I was about ready to leave. Thank you to the owner for apologizing about the wait and paying for the desserts. I don’t care how pretty they look, I’d rather have service than a blonde that can’t remember simple tasks.

My wife and I were brought here by some friends who live local. Our friends love the restaurant and have been many times. Our experience was not the same.
Full disclosure - we had a reservation and ate dinner at the same time a wedding reception was happening. It's possible that the issues we had were the result of the wedding. When we are back in the area, we may try it again, but I'm not sure.
The atmosphere was great. We sat outside and the sunset views were spectacular.
Service was really slow. Again - could be the result of the wedding, but as an example, it took ~20 minutes to bring two desserts after they were ordered. One entree was room temp when they finally arrived.
The food was okay, but not great. I ordered a filet, and asked for it to be medium rare. It came out mostly well done (barely found any pink). I would've said something, but since it took so long for our entrees to arrive, I couldn't wait for another one, so I just ate it. One of our friends could barely eat her dish - simply took it home and discarded it.
I hope this isn't the norm - but living 6 hours away, we were very disappointed.

Absolutely an Excellent Restaurant!! The Staff is unbelievable they are so talented and helpful they go out of the way to make your dining and bar experience wonderful!! The best is the Owner comes to help!! He was Wonderful!!I Love that he is right there talking to you and making sure everything is to your liking. Chips in and helps out!! I loved seeing a great family atmosphere! Love the right at home feel you get right away!! I have not even gotten to the food!!!!!! OMG the Brushetta was to die for!! Wine and Beer choices are amazing!! My husband had the Pork Tenderloin with the mashed potatoes but not just any mashed potatoes, Colcannon!! Fabulous!! I had the Filet Mignon and it was so tender..even the vege medley of squash and zucchini were wonderful!! I would highly reccomend anyone to eat here if you visit the Watkins Glenn / Elmira area you will not be dissapointed!! Desserts looked fabulous but we were so full we could not indulge! The views were spectacular watching the sunset over the mountain and a music duo to boot!!

I ordered the WILD MUSHROOM CHICKEN MARSALA GF. This was nasty. It was basically chicken sitting in beef soup. I was to polite to send it back, so i left it there and got dinner on the way home. This is my second time there and the same result. The staff and view were great. I would advise to go for a drink, but pass on the food. Cheers!

Hilltop is a Chemung County staple. The views of Elmira are astounding. The service is wonderful. The food was good, there were some flavors we didn't love but I accredit this to my flavor preferences not a flaw by the restaurant. Overall I would recommend and plan yo go back.

Beautiful place and surroundings. The view is beautiful. Elmira looks nice from up there. The food was delicious and prepared beautifully. My mule drink was way too good! Lol. The service was very attentive, friendly, and polite. I requested deck seating to enjoy the view, and i regretted it. The sun was making me so hot I couldn't enjoy myself. I asked if I could change tables to a spot in some shade, and our waitress was so kind, understanding, and helpful in making that switch fast n easy. I greatly enjoyed the rest of our meals and drinks in the shade, still enjoying the view. It was Friday and there was very nice live music perfect to enjoy dinner with. Highly recommend! They made our anniversary dinner very special and enjoyable.

The night started out great. The bartender was attentive and good. Once moving to the table the server wasn’t confident in the specials and how they were made and was not attentive to the table. We order steaks and they have you cut in to insure they are cooked to your request, but they were not cooked consistently. The sides came and were cold. We ended up sending them back twice and they still were not right. Maybe if it was really busy, I could understand the lack of attention, but there was hardly anyone there on a Saturday night. The owner Mike Sullivan eventually came to the table and said he heard that we had not gotten what we ordered. We advised him that we did get what we ordered, but that the sides were cold and the steak was not cooked evenly and that our sides went back twice. He said that he had just gotten there, but we saw him when we were seated so clearly he had not just arrived. Thoroughly disappointed in both the service ( except bartender) and the food. Mr. Sullivan seemed more annoyed that we were there and was full of excuses, rather than being accountable for his staff and the disappointing experience we were having. If you read some of the previous reviews, you can see that other customers had similar encounters with Mr. Sullivan. The view doesn't make up for any of this.
Not so sure I would give that another go.
