“Hidden gem in Elmira.

We ordered two chicken kebab platters and were blown away. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. The chicken was incredibly flavorful and tender, the hummus and salads were fresh (the beet quinoa salad was so good I think I like beets now), and the homemade baklava was outstanding.

The restaurant itself is a small family-run Turkish/Mediterranean spot that could easily be overlooked from the outside, but the food is exceptional. You can tell the owners take pride in what they make, and even the takeout order was packaged with care.

They’re also part of the Chemung County Ice Cream Trail, so we’ll be back to try one of the Dubai sundaes next time.

If you’re looking for something different from the usual chain restaurants, this place is absolutely worth a visit.”

“I came in for the first time with a friend shortly before Christmas and enjoyed a delicious lunch along with fantastic service. Although I am local, I can't believe I had never been here! I was also lucky enough to recently receive a gift card from my Daughter & Son in Law. I brought my hubby in today for his first time & he loved it as well. He had the bowl of French Onion Soup & Roast Beef sandwich. I had the Creamy Potato Soup and the Turkey Wrap. Both of our soups were hearty, full of flavor, and so savory. He enjoyed his Roast Beef on Rye with Horsey Sauce and my Turkey Wrap was so DELICIOUS 😋 The staff so very friendly & accommodating. The Cafe is decorated beautifully with lots of beautiful plants & decor. It's a perfect spot to take a little break from life with great meals, good people, and a perfect feeling of hometown comfort”

“I was looking forward to hard ice cream but none of the flavors sounded good. I like peanut butter and they had lots with peanut butter and they had lots of other good flavors just nothing i wanted. I was very happy with my sundae tho. My partner got an orange vanilla swirl cone. He did not like it.”

“My son has been coming here for a while and told me it's the best food and he was right. We came from Corning because the food is so good definitely worth the drive for sure. it's been a while since I've been to a restaurant that I felt completely at home. the cheeseburger and fries were fresh and absolutely delicious. It was also huge. I brought half home. I will definitely be going back. my new go to place and I highly recommend all go. you won't be disappointed. it is like family.”

“I got the Mediterranean flatbread and it was on the money. My wife got the pulled pork without the peppers and toppings and she absolutely loved it. Spot on. And we sat upstairs outdoors and it was a beautiful evening.”

“My husband took me to the Cakery for our anniversary 12/23/2025. I had never been there before and what a quaint and homey place to do something so different, eat sweets and forget the whole meal. Miss Lisa made the most superb cake for us, white cake and divine white icing with designs with gold in them which you can eat. There is only one other bakery that made cake like this and unfortunately went out of business long ago. Thrilled with Miss Lisa's cake. Seeming as we moved up here from New Orleans my favorite dessert is creme brulee. Unable to find the real dessert I was totally surprised when Miss Lisa made the dessert which put me back to the dessert of New Orleans. So delicious. This was a totally charming way to spend our anniversary, Miss Lisa and her brother were fantastic hosts and that evening will forever be in the top part of my experiences. If you have not been there, go!! We plan on making it a special place place to go not only for the desserts but the two people who made it possible for a unique and magical evening. They make you feel like family.”

“1157 is the Best! Not only does the Chef, Andy prepare fabulous food, the wait staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and can help you make choices that will really suit your tastes. The Lobster Bisque I had for Valentines was Fabulous and Andy’s soups are always hearty and satisfying. This is truly a fine dinning or anytime treat in Elmira.”

“The first restaurant I ever ate at that I left hungry. My friends and I go on my days off. I had not eaten all day. It is the only place that I can get liver and onions. The cook always does an amazing job. Just right, not tough. I'll recommend you every time for quality. I politely asked my server if I could order extra meat. I said I would GLADLY pay more if I could be accommodated. I was flatly told that she didn't see how that was possible, she couldn't see how she could bill for it. I was offered an extra salad if I was that hungry. My request was not forwarded to her supervisor or owner. This was on a Friday night and the place smelled amazing! I was there for the meat and my stomach was rumbling. I wasn't even offered the option to purchase two meals! I payed my bill, four adults and deserts. It was over $121.00. I left angry with myself that I barely tipped 10%. I am a generous tipper. Usually over 20%. Really! You let me leave there still hungry?”

There is also a gentleman (with reddish/auburn colored hair) who works there that doesn't know how to be kind, friendly, smile. He was not warm and welcoming at all. That was a tad off putting. Please be kind to your patrons.”

“First time coming to Elmira New York. We had no idea the food was so delicious here. We stopped in to this cute little mom and pop shop pizza place and everything looked so good that we couldn't choose just one thing. The owner treated us like family and made these out of owners feel like they were home. The mozerrela sticks were the best we've ever had, thick, ooey gooey cheese, perfectly crispy and fresh delicious dipping sauce. We couldn't decide if we liked the garlic, sausage, or Supreme pizza better. Just get them all! The hot wings and BBQ wings were 💣! We feel like we made a lifelong friend and new favorite spot to bring the family. The owner you can tell truly loves the people that come in and puts love into his food as well.”

She brought us drinks, then came back 5 min later saying the cook is ready to start cooking if we would like to eat early, so we did. Fish was good, my piece was rather thin and greasy, my partner was happy with his. Might go back for there specialty chicken wings.”

“Hit or miss! We usually enjoy their General Tso's chicken. Sorry to say it, but I don't care for their Egg Foo Young at all, and at most places,not is one of my favorite dishes. On top of preparation issues, it is served with an odd sauce that is NOT the traditional brown sauce most places serve with it. Great egg rolls, when cooked properly. Unfortunately, fried items are often greasy due to fryer temps being too low. Bland Lo Mein. Great Wonton and Eggdrop soups. Really good spareribs. Consistency is an issue, but still, best place we have found in the area.”

“The manager, John Lynch is very personable. On the weekends we make visits to Panera and he is very gracious and happy to see us. The facility is always clean and welcoming. We have been to other Panera locations but nothing compares to the tight ship John Lynch runs and does it in a matter that he is respected by his employees. Panera is fortunate to have him.”
