I really miss this place. I hope they can come back. Such a long long, local family tradition.

There is no better filet on the planet than Moretti’s. I hope this place lives on forever. Every time I come home to Elmira, it is a first stop. I have been eating here since I was 2 and can tell you they never disappoint. They have a simple menu that is so damn good, I don’t care how old the place is inside, I love Moretti’s. It would be my last supper with a filet and steak fries.Mark Dewey

Moretti's is more about people, history, and steak than fast and flashy atmosphere and service. I like to walk there, deep in the patch, just below de la papa's old building on Washington Ave., sandwiched between the old canal and the rail yards... So much more of an experience that way. The ribeye is simple, but delicious.

Most food is great, steak and chops. Spaghetti and pizza lacking. Place is getting rundown. Seems as no $$ being put back into the business. Chairs etc need repairs and/or replacing

Went there for Valentine’s Day made reservations a hour before, we showed up and They couldn’t find our name anywhere. The old man standing at the counter gave me grief about where I worked when he saw my coat I was wearing. Finally got seated ordered food and waited over 2 hours to get our food. Once we got our food the plates where cold and food was barely warm. I ordered a broiled ribeye and paid 39.99 for it, I ended up getting food poisoning and puking it up at 3 in the morning. My wife’s lasagna was burnt and cold. Just a horrible experience all the way around

For valentines day they were unprepared and understaffed. Seated in a dining room with no heat. Everyone in room had their winter coats on. Waited 3 hours for steaks that were so raw no one including tables around us, as in people we had never met, could eat their meal. Then after watching multiple tables get up and just leave this house of horrors we received a $300.00 bill. My raw filet is in my fridge, will be cooking it later tonight. Do not go here, if you look at my other reviews. I am fair, probably too nice but this was by far the WORST dinning experience I have ever had.

The Shrimp Cocktail appetizer had no taste whatsoever. We left one of the 4 medium shrimps. The salads were drenched in dressing to the point of being inetable. The NY Strip (market value priced), was small, and ridiculously overcooked. I sent it back and ordered the Filet Mignon (their feature steak...at $42. and change) was awful. Undercooked and raw in spots. Will never return. The waitress was wonderful with a great sense of humor.

The only thing I ever order is Filet Mignon. It is the best I have ever had. I order it butterflied so that there is no pink meat or blood on the plate. I think that the cooks don’t read the order sometimes. So I have to send it back. It is expensive and I expect to be satisfied. 95% of the time the waitresses are excellent. I think that the hostess acts as a waitress sometimes and she is not as friendly. I have heard her snap at one of the waitresses before, which I don’t think is necessary. The decor seems to stay the same. But all of the food is excellent!

It pains me to "pile on" with yet another negative review, but there was just no excuse for the dinner we had last night. It's too bad because Morretti's used to be great. In fairness, there was about an inch of snow yesterday which partially (but not completely!!) explains why we were only one table out of the three that were occupied at 7:00 PM on a Saturday night. Our waitress did a good job and was really nice. But the food!...........Of the four of us three had salads that were so absolutely buried in dressing (creamy blue cheese on two, Italian on one) that you could barely see the lettuce. Eccccccch! Curiously the fourth salad had so little Italian dressing that my friend said he could barely taste it. Two of us had chicken dishes and the chicken was awful. I don't cook, so I'm not sure what makes chicken hard and tough with a leathery exterior but my theory was that it had sat in a freezer so long it had severe freezer burn. Two of us had marsala dishes and the marsala sauce was very sweet. What's up with that?? My wife enjoyed her manicotti and the drinks, desert, and coffee were good so dinner wasn't a total bust. But it's clear that Morretti's is way way past it's prime. When the staff outnumbers the customers on a Saturday night it's clear that the public is sending a message.

It is a place in Elmira that has very deep ties to the community. The food is good. Unfortunately, the owners have let the place go. It definitely needs a "face lift" and some TLC.

I have been eating pizza here since I was a child. Later on I learned the thrill of an awesome filet mignon. But that was in the past yesterday I threw out my second burned pizza and a salad that had absolutely no dressing on it. Thank God for the soft bread at least my kid had a PBJ. It's like you guys have just given up. That mess in the front station with all the books and papers has been like that for decades clean it up when you come into the place it looks like everything's for sale. Also if you're going to yell at the staff yell a little softer. And just a little suggestion for the season Take the TV off of Fox News. It's not a news station it's a propaganda station, turn it to TCM. Because it's so easy to forget when you've had a bad meal we now keep a list on our refrigerator so that we won't make that mistake again. I'm sorry morettis made the list. In addition my daughter who was in a wheelchair was treated very very poorly at Moretti's. I am so disappointed and so very upset I will not be setting foot in your restaurant again.

Appetizers were decent. Fried clams and french onion soup. Pasta sauce tasted like it was cooked WAY too long in a crockpot and had a burnt flavor that wouldn't go away...ordered strawberry cheesecake to get the flavor out of my mouth and the strawberries had started to ferment and way overpriced

The place stunk when you first walk in. Over an hour from the time we ordered until food came out. Food had a very burnt/smokey flavor. From minestrone soup to the pasta sauce it all tasted the same. The strawberries on the cheesecake tasted like they had come out of fizzy water. Service was slow. Overall not a good experience.

thought we would try something new and saw this place in “places to eat near me.” One of the biggest disappointments. First we walk in and we wait before we are even greeted and ask if we are supposed to seat ourselves. The waitress seats us and walks away. I notice crumbs all over the table she seats us at. Everything is super outdated and extremely close together. It’s hard for me even as little as I am to move through. About 5 minutes later (we’ve already decided appetizers and entrees at this point) she asks what we would like to drink. I get a Chardonnay and my boyfriend gets a crown apple with Sierra mist(he wanted honey whiskey which they did not have). Almost 10 minutes later she drops them off. And walks away to take care of other guests(which is fine) almost ANOTHER 10 minutes goes by and she asks what we would like. I try to order crab cakes.. they are out. I am about to order my second option.. they are out of that too! I prompt my boyfriend to order while I look for another option. THEY ARE OUT OF WHAT HE WANTED! At this point I’m hangry and annoyed and ask for the check which was $8 a piece for the drinks which is completely over priced for a house wine and crown.. an entire half hour we waited for nothing.
