We had Dimitri and he was great! Food was exceptional and bottomless mimosas that paired well with our birthday celebration.

If you’re local, highly recommend going to Rye or the Garage for your brunch / breakfast needs 💯

I swung by Rye Bar in downtown Elmira today for a quick caffeine fix, and their Vanilla Latte absolutely blew me away. From the first sip, the rich, creamy espresso blended seamlessly with the smooth, house-made vanilla syrup – not too sweet, just the perfect hint of warmth that makes you feel like you're wrapped in a cozy blanket on a chilly NY afternoon. The milk was steamed to frothy perfection, with friendly baristas who clearly know their craft. No watered-down corporate nonsense here – this is legit, small-batch quality that deserves way more buzz. If you're in the area, skip the chains and treat yourself. Pair it with one of their fresh pastries for the ultimate pick-me-up. Rye Bar, keep up the great job!

Great cozy bar and restaurant. Love the atmosphere. Best place to eat in Elmira.

Only complaint is that whatever oil they use for frying fries and chips tastes like it needs a freshen up

We chose to host our parents’ 30th Anniversary party at Rye with 30 of their closest friends. We were able to have a beautiful, intimate private event in their back room and the accommodations and thoughtful details really made it spectacular. Three different catering menus were offered with a variety of options and we settled on doing a buffet style brunch. We enjoyed scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, home fries, fresh fruit platters, and a generous assortment of their homemade pastries. Juices and coffee as well as an open bar made sure everyone got a beverage they enjoyed. The whole process was quite seamless and when we arrived to set up, the room was all ready beautifully and thoughtfully arranged for us. Laura, the event coordinator, did a great job. She went above and beyond and took care of everything we needed. We were all able to relax and enjoy delicious food and drinks within a welcoming setting. Thank you!!

Rye is one of our favorite restaurants in the area, but they went above and beyond yesterday…our daughters threw my husband and I a 30th anniversary party and I cannot say enough about how impressed we were!! The room was beautiful, the food, delicious and the service, outstanding. They did a brunch at noon with all the basics we like: scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon and sausage…the girls added on a fruit plate and selection of pastries…well…”fruit plate” was 2 platters of fresh watermelon, pineapple, cantaloupe, honeydew, blueberries, strawberries, and sliced oranges…all beautifully arranged! The “selection of pastries” was the BEST of everything the sister restaurant, The Garage at Rye serves!! AMAZING: their classic brown bread with cream cheese and olives, their blueberry lemon loaf, Nutella, almond, plain, and pistachio croissants, and muffins!! They even had plates of the loafs on each table. Also on the menu, coffee, orange & cranberry juices! The bar was also open—and if you know Rye—drinks were outstanding! The whole event crew made us feel welcome and valued and pushed the whole vibe over the top! The side room comfortably fit the buffet and 30+ guests. Side note: they also have several beautiful, spacious Air B&Bs that they run; 3 upstairs, 2 across the street and more in progress…making Rye Bar THE place to host your next event!!

If you ever get the old lady as a sever, request someone else. she’s very rude and miserable, one glance and you can tell she’s drunk, she reeks of wine, and she was stumbling all over the place. If you get her as a waitress I would recommend requesting someone else. Overall everything else was fine.

We had a group of 7 on a Friday night with a reservation. Our server greeted us and took our drink order, we asked for waters as well. She said the waters might be a little because they had to wash glasses. She brought 2 drinks over after 15 minutes and then we didn’t see her for another 20. The bartender brought 2 other drinks, served us water and then we had to go up and ask for the bottle of wine we ordered in the time the server was gone. The restaurant was not full. The server was bringing food out for a large party, taking multiple trips. No one else was helping her. I am not sure if Rye has trays or not but trays and tray stands might be helpful for serving food. After 45 minutes of sitting, our server reappeared and asked if we were ready to order. We had to ask to hear any specials. She gave no apologies for the wait. The food came out in a timely manner and it was good. She split our bill up wrong but we didn’t correct her because we needed to leave. The atmosphere is decent and food is good at Rye but every time it takes 30-45 minutes to get drinks and get your order in. If you go, plan for at least 2 hours and eat a snack before so you aren’t hangry.

Overall a delicious meal. We went on a Saturday which was steak night and a three source set menu. The steak was a little tough even when cooked at medium rare but tasted great. The ginger cake for dessert was delicious but so big. It was like the entire cake on a plate! A great atmosphere and perfect for a date night.

Up until today, we have had great experiences at Rye. However, we went for brunch today for my in-laws 40th anniversary and were wildly disappointed. I cannot speak on the food because we never got any.

We sat for almost 20 minutes waiting for the server to come take our orders, who admittedly said he forgot we were sat in his section. We ordered mostly water for the table and 2 people got mimosas, which came out very quickly. After 30 minutes, there were no other drinks at the table. We told another staff member we hadn’t gotten any drinks who said he would take care of it. Another 10 minutes went by so I told ANOTHER staff member that we still hadn’t gotten our food and was told they would “get it right now and go find our server”. We watched table after table get served, get refills on their drinks, and leave, over the course of the hour that we were there. The server never checked back, the other two staff members never followed through on getting our water. When I said “you can cancel our food order, we’re gonna go” the server shrugged his shoulders and said “okay” then told another member of the party “you’re gonna have to pay for the mimosas” which she planned on doing. But for that to be said without offering a solution, an apology, or any sort of accountability was actually shocking. Needless to say, we will likely never return, certainly not for brunch.

Don't go to Rye for brunch unless you are married.

I had no problem waiting half an hour for a refill of what would be “very bottom” mimosas. I was genuinely happy after one hour when everyone else received their food. Then I was informed that they were out of pancakes. Not sure how that is possible, but I don’t run a poorly run restaurant. After an additional half-hour wait, I received French toast with the added benefit of having no discount on the bill. I left appreciative of my wife offering half of her waffle while everyone else ate.

Very cool atmosphere and excellent service but the food was way too expensive for what it was. The quality of the meat in the burgers was very good and the buns were appropriate as well. But being upcharged for mediocre fries instead of the accompanying potato chips felt like getting nickeled-and-dimed. At a local diner where the sandwich is $8, sure. But not when the Reuben is $20 and no better than what you’d get at any halfway decent diner. When people go out for a semi-fancy meal on a Saturday night and they order a burger, they want it with fries. Who orders burgers and chips? 🤷

Although the lemon pasta was tasty enough, and the salmon was perfectly medium rare, the pasta was well past al dente—and $37 was over the top for what it was.

But the atmosphere was nice, with interesting music, and the servers were super efficient and friendly! 😊

We usually love coming to Rye. The food is great, the drinks are some of the best around, and the ambiance is always spot on. The bartenders especially do an amazing job and make it a place we look forward to visiting.

Unfortunately, this last visit was very disappointing. After enjoying some drinks at the bar (we spent about $65 on two rounds and didn’t mind because the drinks are excellent), we asked for a table. The hostess seated us and gave us menus, but after that nothing. We waited more than 30 minutes without a single server coming by. No water, no order taken, no check in at all. Staff were walking around, but we were completely overlooked.

When we finally decided to leave, the hostess who had seated us just told us “Have a good night” without acknowledging the situation. It was frustrating and felt very dismissive, especially since we really do enjoy this place.

We hope this was just an off night because Rye is a spot we have loved, but service like that makes it hard to want to come back for dinner.
