DO NOT RECOMMEND. My experience was deeply disappointing because of the unacceptable behavior of the bouncers. Not only were they rude, but they also crossed the line by touching and pushing (ex. putting in chokehold) my friends and I without justification. There was absolutely no reason for this to have occurred as we simply just asked to retrieve a jacket. They are supposed to be keeping people safe yet they are the ones who start the fights at this place. This type of behavior is completely unacceptable and reflects poorly on the establishment as a whole. I will not be coming back.

We had SUCH a great time here. Service was excellent. The playlist is so fun, and the bartender was incredibly personable. I was joking about loving fig jam so he surprised me a fig cocktail! Now THAT is service! Love this place! (Also the pretzel bites with Brie and fig were phenomenal, but of course I’m biased as a fig fan ?)

Dark Horse has been around almost a decade and is a favorite for many to visit. I've been there many times. The food is fantastic and the bar is well decorated. The bartenders are very friendly and nice. Lots of room. Being a popular bar in a college town comes with some cons tho. It can get very overcrowded late at night. Sometimes the bar is too full, and too drunk, creating a somewhat uneasy environment where people get too rowdy, and bouncers and security are often on edge. On the worst nights, I've seen a person dragged out aggressively by security. Because of this I would be mindful of the time you choose to visit. It kind of has the reputation as "that bar" if you want to go get wasted.
I went here for a few drinks on my birthday and had a great time! The beer was great and the bartender was so nice! Definitely would recommend!

Not sure what happened to this place .... This was the Go to Spot back in the days. I was there a few weeks ago and decided to meet a friend for drinks. I sipped my Drink and realized it wasn't Patron. I then asked the Girl at the bar if I could please change this I wanted a Patron Margarita. She said I would have to be charged Twice . One for the new drink and then the drink I didn't drink ... She ended up taking the drink back but making the same drink as if I don't know my Liquors lol this is what I do. She charged me for a Patron Margarita but just ended up giving me the same drink. Me nor my friend drank it . We just had a conversation and paid our tab when it was time to leave. Also she lied to me about being the manager. The security guard was nice and alert. Also the wings were pretty good. I've been coming to this place since I was 21 ... I'm 39 and my taste has changed but it would have been nice to walk down memory lane with a decent drink. I would suggest just getting a beer or the basic cran or vodka and coke. Or Jameson and Ginger ale you can't mess those ups. They are still open late which is cool and the music was still a good time. Just the Bar service I received lacked. If she only knew how good of a tipper I am when the drink is good and how politeness goes a long way as I would have blessed her with a tip of appreciation.

My boyfriend and I order from the Dark Horse in Farmingdale at least once a week. We regularly order the California wraps with either sweet potato fries or onion rings and the brie pretzels with fig jam appetizer. We have NEVER had a bad experience and have been going there for about two and a half to three years. The service and food are consistently excellent. I highly recommend the Dark Horse in Farmingdale -- it is my favorite go to spot in Farmingdale!
