My first time here and will definitely be back! We split the duck and the mussels fra Diablo and they were both excellent. Great wines, service and vibes.

I had the duck and the combination was very bad, the appetizers were salty. The service was good and the place was good.

I never write negative reviews but this deserved one. Made reservations for my wife’s birthday. So excited to go, already picked out drinks, entrees and appetizers before we got there. Arrived 5 minutes early and was told we were waiting for a table. After 20 minutes we asked for an update, which we were told people wrapping up. After 45 minutes we decided to leave. A group of 4, patiently waiting while being constantly hit with the door since there is no waiting area. We told the host we were leaving so she grabbed the manager who was unapologetic. Never once addressed our group knowing we were standing there for 45 minutes and walking passed us probably 50 times. No I’m sorry we can have your table ready immediately, just a nasty attitude and a sarcastic thank you for waiting was what she said. Completely unprofessional. No plan, no trying to make it better. Would highly recommend going to a restaurant in Fishkill that actually cares about it patrons.

Such a disappointment. I was so excited to go to Sotano’s for my best friend’s birthday. We had a reservation for 7pm. After waiting 40 minutes and after checking in with the hostess for an ETA several times, she pulled the manager over. We asked if there was a plan for us to get a table since the wait had been so long at that point. The manager did not apologize and could not have cared less that we were waiting for so long. We ended up leaving and the manager snarked at us and told us to have a good night. I understand delays happen but the lack of apology for the delay or effort to find another solution to get us seated is ridiculous.

We had a 7pm reservation and we’re still not seated at 7:40pm. The hostess was very sweet and apologetic. The manager on the other hand seemed overwhelmed, which I felt bad about after the first few minutes. Unfortunately she ignored that we were waiting. I didn’t know she was the manager until the hostess introduced her as the manager once we expressed that the wait was exorbitant. When asked if there was a plan for our 7pm reservation she said we had a table that would be available soon, thus insinuating there was no plan. There was no apology or empathy for the fact that we had waited patiently for 40 minutes. Her parting words were “thanks for waiting” with a dismissive attitude. Too bad we weren’t able to try the food.

I am obnoxiously critical of every single place I eat. Sotano is a place that I can never find a complaint with. I suppose that in and of itself would be my only complaint. We’ve eaten there at least 10 times over the past couple years and everything has remained consistently excellent. The prices are not much higher than some other places but they’re on par for such an enjoyable dining experience. Well worth it.

Absolutely exceptional food and service! Rack of lamb and Shell Steak was nearly 99% fat free and super juicy! Very nice owner and one of the best waitresses, Kristen! We absolutely will be returning! Tip- try her Amaretto Sour! Superb! 👌🏽

FAR better than that “Crew Restaurant “!

My husband and I went this place several times but never had such terrible experience as today. The food ( we ordered rack of lamb and sotano burger) was average. The service was not pleasant at all. The Latino waitress was mean to non-white customers. We won’t go there again. Go somewhere else if you are not white.

Sotano is fairly expensive and presents itself as an upper level restaurant. Our party took practically forever to get our food..even the appetizers. We were largely ignored except for food delivery. The food itself is very salty and not anything special for both chicken and lamb dishes. The pasta was ok.

Sotano came highly recommended by a colleague who frequents the establishment. So we went in with high expectations and they sure did not disappoint. Ambiance, cleanliness, service and food were all top notch. Had the crab and lobster bisque, butternut squash soup, octopus, braised lamb and scallops. Each dish perfectly delicious. A true gem.

We randomly chose this from Google and when we got there the aroma in the parking lot just gorgeous. Upon entering we were greeted by this fresh smell ie no overpowering smell of food everywhere. We were promptly seated and the adventure began. The calamari and the lobster bisque was excellent seasoned just right and they serve a bread that's just heavenly. We had the Crispy Skin Duck and Frutti Di Mare which was excellent. The staff Hernan O was attentive, polite and knowledgeable about the offerings.

Overpriced and such a disappointment.
I got the Osso Bucco - it was not tender - it was served in a bland, favorless brown sauce and lukewarm.
Not once did the waitress come by to see how things were after the food was served. The place was not busy at all - we were the 2nd diners at 5:30/6pm
Arugula salad was fine.
Place is charming but so over priced - never again.

Drinks were strong and good, I had the octopus over a bed of fresh salad, very good but small but still very good. My wife did not have an appetizer. My wife's entree was stuffed chicken with Parma prosciutto, mozzarella cheese, and as lot of goodies. I had the rare tuna over mashed potatoes, but one thing here that was amazing, the mashed potatoes were green!!! I asked why and the waitress said they put in Wasabi in the mashed potatoes and let me tell you, this was the best mashed potatoes I have ever had, (sorry wifey). And finally you've got to make room for their FLAN. Flawless, fantastic and really creamy. Now a final note, the last review I made for this restaurant my wife and I couldn't see because it's very dark in there as the restaurant is in an old home. They fixed the problem, they came out as it got darker and placed personal lamps on every table with three settings and non of the settings were obtrusive to other patrons as the lamp lit down and was not above chest height. Definitely go and enjoy a nice personable meal. Highly recommend this restaurant.
