I have visited this restaurant twice. That is a positive sign by itself. Sotanos is located on Main Street in Fishkill, NY. The area is easy to get to as it it right off of I 84 and Route 9, a major thoroughfare. There is ample parking in the back of this white, quaint, vintage house turned into an eatery. That's a good thing because at peak hours, there is no Street parking to be found. You will be greated immediately upon arrival and seated in one of the dining areas to the left OR at the small bar to your right. We ordered fried calamari and shrimp ? wrapped in bacon ? as appetizers. A universal truth is that bacon makes everything taste better! Both were tasty and devoured so fast that I forgot to take pretty, unmolested pictures of them. You will notice immediately that the portions here are adequate, so you do not feel robbed, but unless you had gastro surgery, there will not be a lot of take out boxes clogging up your refrigerator You get JUST enough with lots of sauce to trick the ? eyes into thinking ? the plates ? are loaded. The main courses ordered were a fillet mignon with scallops and a "crispy" duck that was not crispy at all. Reportedly, the duck was delicious, but the crispy description was on the menu. The steak was a good grade, tender, and prepared to my liking. The scallops were some of the best ? that I ever had. As you can see in the picture, you don't get many of them. Gelato as a desert is my recommendation. The service was excellent. I like the non rushed eating experience on well spaced tables on beautiful, 100 year old broad plank floors. The bathroom was clean. I can see a pretty good wait for this room if the place is crowded. If memory serves me, it is a single use bathroom. It's a VERY nice place to go for a delicious meal, perhaps for a special occasion. I would and will absolutely visit again unless I can find a comparable restaurant with slightly larger portions for the price. Sotanos is a wonderful experience although not a great value. Your mileage may vary. Enjoy!Parking: May spots in the rearKid-friendliness: Kristen was informative and attentive.

We happened to be in town for the night and came across this restaurant. We decided to give it a try. The building appeared to be an older, perhaps historical building, but I am not certain. The waitress was very helpful and accommodating. The food was quite good.

We've been to Sotano multiple times. It's always amazing. Tonight was one of the best meals we've ever had there. Everything was from the specials menu. Bacon wrapped shrimp, stuffed mushrooms, halibut, and crispy duck. All of them were delicious.

Valentine’s Day Fail! Had a reservation and still had to wait ~15 minutes for a table. Every party that came in had reservation issues. They were overbooked and not getting food out. Food was good but we wait 50 MINUTES for our dinner. Wait time was so bad multiple tables had to leave mid dinner or receive compensation for the wait. A nice place but cannot handle the busy hours and a little pricey for select menu items.

Went here for the first time for an engagement party. Everything was excellent. I do wish we had a tad more space for 20 people but still very nice.

Sotano is one of the finest restaurants in the area. The Chef/Owner creates his menu for the day depending on what's available and which quality foods he believes will work for that day. We have been there many times and we have NEVER been disappointed. The staff is well-trained and responsive. The restaurant is located in a vintage house and the atmosphere is comfortable and intimate at the same time. You can't go wrong here.

We went to Sotanos for appetizers and drinks on a Sunday afternoon. We shared the ham and cheese croquettes and the grilled squid. For drinks we had the Cocojito and a traditional Mojito. Everything was absolutely delicious! Food was perfectly executed and well seasoned. The octopus was beyond tender. The staff was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend!

We had a group of 6 visiting from out of town without reservations and they were quick to accommodate us, but just informing us that the the table was reserved for an hour and a half later. Very much appreciated. They place was very busy by the time we left. Would go back ?

Had lunch at Sotano a while back and it was fine,So, we decided to go back last night and dine.A Sunday during restaurant week, a bit busy, somewhat of a wait,We thought and hoped we would get dinner first rate. Two of us picked the price fixe,We selected the surf and turf, it sounded like a good mix.My sirloin had lots of grizzle, it was tough to cut,I was not the only one, as my friend was in the same rut.We carved with effort to extract what meat we could get at,When finished we sent back 50 percent of the “meat” because it was grizzle and fat.The rest of the meal was satisfactory and fine,But it was so disappointing with the steak, that it ruined our good time. Our server asked us 'how was our meal,'My buddy explained to her how we really did feel. She replied 'I will let the manager know' we sat back and waited,20 minutes went by, no response, so we asked for our check and vacated.A lesson to be learned, when your meal is not right,Send it back to the kitchen don't wait till the last bite!In all fairness it was busy and possibly understaffed for the night,However, I must admit, the manager should have come over to us to make things right.
