This restaurant is clean and friendly. It offers authentic Chinese dishes. We liked their seafood, specially the yellow croaker soup!

We were really disappointed with our dinner at Shanghai Zhen Gong Fu. To start things off, our waiter (and assuming the owner) mentioned that he had special edamame soaked in wine. We never ordered it though and it appeared on our table. Perhaps this was complimentary, as I've seen the gesture many times. Of course you know how this ends - on our bill at $6.96. I felt like I was suddenly in Morocco, the victim of a tourist scam. The soup dumplings were fine - as others have mentioned the skins were thicker than usual but overall they were pretty decent. The wontons in Szechuan spicy sauce were underwhelming. And my beef noodle soup was one of the more disappointing soups I've had in a long time. The "beef" appeared to be tongue, was chewy, salty and inedible. There are tons of other, better Shanghainese restaurants in Queens. My suggestion is to skip this place.

Diamond in the rough in Elmhurst serving amazing quality dumplings. We tried the pork XLBs, truffle pork XLBs and the pan fried tiny pork buns. All were excellent but the truffle pork XLBs were the star. It's an umami explosion in your mouth. Skin is delicate and thin but still holds the delicious rich soup well. My pet peeve is thick skins. Will definitely be back. Service was also excellent which was so refreshing and no wait to get in at 12pm on a Sunday. Prices are reasonable and portions are healthy!

Every dish at this spot is amazing! It is one of our favorite and regular go-to spots in Elmhurst. Soup dumplings are consistently delicious, General Tao's is crispy and perfectly flavorful, lo mein is so good, the Wushi spare ribs are a bit pricey but worth it every time. The staff is also super friendly and always makes us feel at home. Say hi to Bill when you go in. Highly recommend!

So many xiao long bao places in flushing and the surrounding areas and this is a diamond in the rough. Too many of the other xiao long bao places in flushing have cut the quality and taste of their food for profits. The xiao long bao here are very flavorful, the soup is not thick and the skin of the bund aren't either. Whenever I visit my parents in elmhurst I make sure to make a pit stop here for their xiao long baos. Already went twice with family in 3 days.

Super solid Shanghainese restaurant in a neighborhood full of Thai and Filipino restaurants (all cuisines which I love love love). Slightly off from the heart of Elmhurst, it is kind of out of the way from everything else... As I entered the restaurant, I noticed a sign by the door that stated all menu prices were discounted cash prices and if paying by credit card there is a 3.5% service fee. Typically things like that annoys me as I am normally very big on using credit cards. We got the pork and crab meat soup dumplings, the black truffle soup dumplings, watercress sautéed with enoki mushrooms, and the hot and spicy fried chicken with red hot peppers (not sure of the exact menu name). - Pork and Crab Meat Soup Dumplings: SO much crab meat! So flavorful. I really enjoyed this and I do prefer it more than the truffle one. Not as good as Joe's Shanghai though which is my ultimate favorite! - Black Truffle Soup Dumplings: Ordered this because many of the Yelp reviews says so! I like truffle flavor but it doesn't work in a lot of things. I can't decide whether it worked here. I thought it was good... definitely better than I had expected but I didn't love it. In fact I gave my last piece to my husband because I told him its not worth my stomach space. Hey! I'm on a "diet"... every dumpling counts! - Watercress Sautéed with Enoki Mushrooms: Two of my favorite things put together with a delicious wine sauce. Highly recommend. I love meat, but I order things like this once in a while to pretend I'm healthy. - Hot and Spicy Fried Chicken with Red Hot Peppers: This is more Szechuan than a Shanghainese dish in my opinion. Whenever I see this dish at restaurants, I have to order it. This was very well executed here. Probably the best I've had. Can taste the "wok hay." Strong, bold flavors. All the food here were very tasty. The service was impeccable as well in a homey kind of way. Very friendly staff who speaks to you like they've known you forever.

I decided to check this place out again and give it another shot. I ordered different entrees this time around and it wad much better. The truffle soup dumplings were tasty. Also, had the seafood lomein dish, it neded some hot sauce though. Decided to get veggies too such as the watercress and mushroom dish. The waitstaff was friendly. Very welcoming and attentive.

If you love truffles and you love soup dumplings, you need to come here and try them! They were surprisingly delicious! I can be content with eating 2-3 orders of just this as my meal. But my friend and I decided to share the watercress sautéed with enoki mushroom dish and the Shanghai Style Lo Mein with seafood. Both were simply delicious as well. The black truffle soup dumplings is a definite must try if you can't make a decision lol.

I have ordered from here a few tomes. I have tried the steamed pork buns, fried pork buns, pork soup dumplings, and the shredded rice cakes with beef. All orders have arrived hot and intact, including the soup dumplings! Everything is flavorful and the portions are good. I definitely recommend giving them a try!

The soup dumplings were too sweet for my liking. Ordered the chicken pan fried noodles and it was not what I expected or what was shown on the picture in the menu. Pan fried noodles are one of my go to dishes and this was probably one of the worst ones I've ever eaten. Also they charge a 3.5% surcharge for using a credit card which they don't disclose until the bill comes.

I'm thrilled that I found this place! I wasn't in the mood to go all the way to Flushing for quality Chinese food, and now I don't have to! Standouts were the excellent soup dumplings, Szechuan-style wontons, and crispy scallion pancakes. But honestly, I don't think you can go wrong because all of our food was delicious. I'm also not used to being treated so kindly and given tips on how to eat the food...such nice service, it made this New Yorker a little nervous lol. A real treat that more people should know about!

10/10 Recommended!! Really really really good and quick service. The staffs are also very nice and they don't rush you even though it gets really really really busy. Their soup dumpling is a MUST especially when it's freshly cooked. Family friendly and everything was just good.
