For breakfast, it’s comfort food n the hk style milk tea is a bonus to enrich the meal, small, noisy maybe and we are New Yorker to build in this environment.

There are indeed many dishes that become more and more unpalatable as they are cooked. It’s because the rice in the region is hard. It’s really about making food for people. Just the casual attitude of a great place. The meat was also very old. Just two bites. The price is very favorable. But there are no buts.

Nice spot to rest or grab a fast meal around the neighborhood. Some seats, noisy, but alive. If you are a bread person in the morning, I recommend here. Fast and easy to start your day with affordable food.?For food, only rating for the bakery part since I didn’t get any big plates. But I recommend their tea since it is make to order! You can make it unsweetened.☕️I had an unsweetened Hong Long style milk tea. It was rich and paired well with my sweet toast.I had the toast with condensed milk which reminded me breakfast stores in our cultures. Toast with sweet spread like chocolate or peanut butter. Classic, nothing special but a good choice for a day not that hungry or the day you just miss this taste.

Was with the kids early early in the morning and they wanted some breakfast. I decided to take them here. I was there around 7:15am so plenty of parking before no parking time of 8:30 am in that area. Had some A course and C course prix frixe. I had the macaroni /spam and coffee. Kids had instant noodles/spam. Price is very reasonable and the food faire was quick and tasty.

Since I was in the area for a few days, I was pretty happy to see a spot like this serving nostalgic foods. I had a Portuguese cheese baked chicken spaghetti, fish & tofu over rice, beef & pepper over rice and thousand year old congee.Portuguese sauce was the right flavor, but the chicken in it was certainly canned. The meat was pinkish like it was in a brine and pulled apart in shreds.Fish and beef dishes were overly salty. Both would have been good if that sauce over them didn't make me so parched.Last and the very least, congee. The taste certainly tells you the meat/bones they used have spoiled.Doubt I'll come here again and wouldn't recommend these dishes.

Honestly Name a better place if you have one

Affordable and filling portionsSalt n pepper pork chop was so oily that it put me in a food comaAlso wished I've read the 1 star reviews before ordering

The baked pork chop with tomato sauce or with cream sauce are delicious. The pork chop is lightly breaded with moist meat. The quantity of of pork chop is generous. You can't go wrong with either spaghetti or rice. The beef chow fun and baked ham and chicken over rice are flavorful and not dry. The moistness and texture made the dishes appetizing. I called ahead of time and the order was ready. They also have a bakery section with buns and pastries. I bought some pastries and I enjoyed its crispy almond cookie. 88 Canteen has restored indoor dining and it was a busy Sunday afternoon with many waiting for their orders. There is natural lighting coming into the store and the food is well stocked and organized. Too bad most of the buns were sold out, which says something about its popularity. Parking is available nearby either metered parking except for Sundays or further away from Main Street in the residential areas.

Hong Kong style tea is my favorite. Fried noodles have flavor and crisp taste.

This place serving foods brought back my childhood memories of 茶餐廳 feel. Must visit when I stop by Queens again.
