I used to love dining at Bakhter Halal Kabab Afghan—it was the go-to spot for authentic Afghan cuisine. Their kebabs were perfectly seasoned, and the fresh naan was unbeatable. Sadly, things have changed. The food quality has declined noticeably; dishes lack the flavor they were once famous for. Service has also become slow and inattentive, which dampens the dining experience further. It’s disappointing to see such potential go unfulfilled. I hope they can return to their former glory.

My wife ordered 2 beef 1 lamb Tikka, all you bite into is mushy seasoning packed onto overcooked tough meat. They used the wrong cut of beef and lamb for Tikka and wanted 4-5 per stick. Rice was decent, but no way worth $18. Won't go back 🙅🏽♂️

Hey. The food was disgusting and everything tasted like lamb oil. The qabli rice and chicken kabob tasted like it was swimming in lamb oil. The guy at the front was taking my order and I said Hey, what’s in that dish. And he started yelling at me saying YOU ARE FROM AFGHANISTAN YOU KNOW WHAT WE SAY HEY FOR. WE CALL THE ANIMALS HEY I AM NOT ANIMAL. Also the boloni hardly had any potato in it. Never coming back.

Food still has taste but the entire place is so dirty.
Bathrooms are a mess, using dollar store sheets to cover old tables, high chair for kids is radically dirty, i didn’t even let my son sit on that chair.
I’d file a complaint to NY food bureau to inspect kitchen and look around the poor hygiene they got.
