We went here for a late lunch on a weekend with friends from out of town. Except for one other family group, we were the only people in the restaurant, which was huge. The restaurant was fairly ornately decorated - lots of wood, etc. - but not particularly welcoming. The waitress helped us choose our meals, making sure that we knew how hot the various dishes were, and we ordered quite a lot of food. While everything was good, nothing really stood out. And for what was supposed to be a top notch restaurant, there were several thing that seemed odd - plastic cups for water, paper napkins, etc. Service was slow, and not particularly attentive, even though there seemed to be several people serving only two tables. All in all, a pretty ordinary meal in a somewhat odd space. It might have been better if there were more people there to give the place more life. Before lunch we had stopped at the New World Mall to take a look at the extraordinary JMart there, plus to look at the food court downstairs. We couldn't resist, so had some soup from the improbably named Nai Brother Sauerkraut Fish place in the food court. Probably one of the best things I have ever eaten...much better than anything at Guan Fu.
We have been trying to find a place after Sichuan Absolute closed .( we are very , very picky ) . Finally decided to try this place . Very nice place ! We ordered over 12 dishes and everyone of them were very good . The service was probably the best you could get in flushing, too . They work like a team especially the waitresses !!!! Great job ! This will be our place from now on ! Keep it up guys !!! Don’t change !
Spicy foodie’s delight ! I’m not one and I’m not going to lie that I was low key suffering after eating every sizzling hot dish. The dishes I ordered were apparently mild but it felt like medium Spicy for me. Overall, it’s on the higher end for pricing in flushing, but this is consider affordable for high quality sichuan food compared to Manhattan.Ordered the mapo tofu, fried pork, and my personal favorite cabbage soup with fish. The cabbage soup had so many flavors that my mouth kept on wanting more !
Food is really good and authentic. The spice levels on the menu feel accurate mostly but the spice level 2 sometimes feels mild and I’m not sure if that’s my spice tolerance or spice 2 is just mild? Portion sizes are really good which explains the pricing. The service leaves something to be desired speed wise when it came to getting the check we waited a while to be able to flag someone down to get the check but also for them to run our cards.
The best and most authentic Sichuan restaurant in NY. Their Mapo tofu is better than some of the restaurants I tried in Chengdu. As a Sichuanese, I’m so happy to find this restaurant!
I’m glad to find some unique dishes here.
Their dish are salty for me , but my friend who was live in that area (china) said it is normal, kind of culture thing in that area ,so I decide to give 4 star.
Just ok for me… was recommended by a friendFood is good .. definitely had better
We heard about the hype surrounding this place and visited as a big group. The food honestly is great, although the high prices are a bit unsettling. I'm not so accustomed to these types of fine dining prices for my fu qi fei pian and shui zhu niu that doesn't taste too different from what I could get for much less.
Solid food and great prices if you get the membership. A nice change of pace from all the other Sichuan places in the city. Must get the pork shoulder!
Restaurantji Recommends
We recently went to Guan Fu with friends for the first time. The restaurant is lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful.Absolutely delicious food! We ordered several dishes and shared.Tom enjoyed the Mr & Mrs Smith and the spicy shrimp while I loved the stewed beef. We also had a sautéed seasonal vegetable dish that was really good. We couldn't get enough of the eight treasures tea.Would definitely recommend
Be careful of this restaurant. Not honest.Full of lies.
My party of three took a seat outdoors and were immediately made to feel unwelcome. The staff turned the lights off to try to get us to leave. When we asked if it’d be easier if we left they said “yeah it’s a hassle”. Don’t waste your time here. Everyone was determined to make our dinner as unpleasant as possible.
Ordered two dishes Fish and chicken. Very tasty
Yummy Szechuan food. Inside is beautiful and it was empty when we came. The food is flavorful and the menu is vast. I can definitely see myself coming back here again. Maybe then I'll be able to edit and leave a better review lol
