All the dishes here are impressively delicious, and the employees are incredibly kind. I randomly stopped by, but the food turned out to be so tasty! Honestly, I was doubtful at first because the reviews were so good I thought maybe people only wrote them to get a free soda from a promotion. But it wasn’t like that at all. Hidden gem in Murray Hill. Their grilled pork belly on the hot plate is awesome! Fried oysters is great too. Good for casual dating. Limited table seating so best for couples and smaller groups up to maybe 4.

Always enjoy the food at gupji. Got the grilled cod, tuna hotplate rice and samgyupsal ( grilled pork belly). Everything was delicious and definitely recommend. Also recommend making reservations on Friday nights and weekends. It can get busy.

We love Gupji- been eating there for a while. Our favorite dish is the pork belly bento box and their house salad. 1 start less because we noticed the food portion got significantly smaller the last time we ordered there. Inflation is hitting everyone hard- we understand-
I forgot to take a picture of my other dishes because I was having such a great time! Our server Aileen was absolutely amazing and really made our night. The bentos are a fantastic deal and the Gupji salad is divine! Ingredients are all fresh and high quality. I got the bass and it was cooked perfectly with a lovely sweet soy sauce marinade.
The interior is very trendy too. Highly recommend!

I found this place by sorting the Yelp reviews by highest rating for an eatery within 25-minutes of Murray Hill, and wow was this place great.
Charming and cosy, with a great view of the kitchen. I had read earlier to order the Chilean Sea Bass bento box, and I'm glad I did. The sea bass goes great with the portion of pickled veggies.
The egg custard with some types of fish looked enticing for $5, so I got that too.
I asked the very kind waitress what else she thought was good, and she recommended the grilled whole mackerel with ponsu sauce, and it was fantastic.
I was in a rush coming in to catch a train in 50 minutes, and they got everything to me in time and even threw in a complimentary chicken salad, which was very thoughtful.

The only thing better than the food was the service! Andrew was so kind and made sure all my dishes came out with the meat separate. He was attentive to allergies and offered us hot tea immediately after coming in from the rain. I loved the mackerel bento box and fried oysters. And the salad that came with the meal was very good.
