Got the chicken steam bun and veg&pork steam bun this morning, worst buns I have in my life, and hubby had diarrhea after eating the red bean rice cake.

Absolutely terrible. The BBQ pork bun filling is a brown mush. One of the egg tart tin's bottom has a burnt flakey substance on it. Worst of all, the swiss roll we got started molding the next day (we kept it in the fridge). 0/10 would not recommend. There are plenty other bakeries in Flushing that aren't gross and wouldn't make you sick.

Kreative Cid

One of my favorite Chinese bakeries in the world (not just Flushing). Prices are great, food even greater. Of course taste is subjective. My favorite is a sweet corn danish for $1.90 as of this posting.
Opens at 7am most days. They're ready a few minutes before. If you don't speak their language either be very patient and be ready for some "rude" customer service (it's NOT rude) or use Google Translate. Don't be that non-local who blames non English speakers for being "unfriendly".
If you're visiting New York City, and Googled "best Chinese bakery" this place is one of the best anywhere.

Delicious and affordable breads + buns but take this as a warning of the dismissive staff!!!!

This hefty roast pork bun was only $2 and I was pleasantly surprised that there was quite a bit of filling. There was a good mixture of fatty and lean roast pork. The dough was sadly a bit gummy but the bun was overall quite fluffy and light. I originally wanted the pork and veggie bun but you need to heat it up at home :(

I also got a pineapple bun with red bean. The red bean filling wasn't overly sweet and there were still bits of red bean which gave it a nice texture. I wanted to ask whether the red bean filling was housemade but the aunties just ignored me. I suspect that there's a language barrier as they spoke cantonese but they still ignore me when I asked again in english.

I'll gladly overlook the service as buns + breads at this price point are hard to come by!!

Everytime I'm in the area I have to go in. Granted I haven't tried their coffee or warm out the steamer buns (that'll be on the next one). But I love their coconut bread and pork buns. Yum!

Honest & True Standards

Ladies!! The aunties here will whip your man into shape! ? I’m kidding, but Forreal, the aunties here are awesome. I was pushing my double stroller up the little hill leading into the entrance, I was having a little trouble since the wheel got stuck, and the aunties called out my husband for not helping me and asked him “why aren’t you helping your wife?” ?❤️. They were speaking in canto and my canto is very limited(I’m learning) but my husband translated the convo after we left and I was laughing and fell in love with the aunties for calling out my husband for not helping me. The sponge cakes here are so light and fluffy, kind of like Kam Hing cakes but less sweet; perfect to pair with a sweet cup of coffee/ tea. This place should come out with an ube sponge cake flavor, I think it would sell good! The prices and portions here are awesome too compared to other bakeries. Rainbow bakery and now Maxin, are my top two in Flushing! I will be back to try more stuff!

I bought four cakes, but they were either stale or sour. None of them were edible. They were so rubbish.

They have refrigerated bags of steamed buns (filled and plain) to take home, as well as the typical Chinese bakery assortment of baked buns for $2 and less. Perfect for a snack or to stock up on for later!
