it was good, but ultimately it’s not mindblowing. if you haven’t heard already, this is a one dish restaurant. it only serves one thing: korean beef soup (spicy or non-spicy) for $20 at the time of review (may 2025)
imo, pretty unique because i’ve never came across another restaurant that only serves one dish. but with all the raving reviews, i was expecting it to taste really really yummy. it was not the case in my personal opinion, but it was a very great experience nonetheless. INSANELY quick service with plenty of refills on the banchan (side dishes, which consisted of seaweed, kimchi radish, steamed eggs, jalapeños, and soybean paste)
overall, would recommend if you’re in the area! not so sure if it’s a place you’d make the trek to, though
6.5/10
You have to try it to understand it ♥️ extremely delicious and nutritious food in a humble place.
It’s delicious and affordable, and there are free meals for children!
Food is good. Give me the wrong order tho.
Koreanest Korean restaurant
Having a meal like this occasionally in winter is quite a delightful experience. I specifically chose the original beef bone broth instead of the spicy version just to taste its natural flavor, but it turned out to be quite bland. If you prefer stronger flavors, I’d recommend getting the spicy broth or asking for extra sauce or salt
No Korean cooks or servers here so didn’t speak any english or Korean. Food is mediocre at best. Taste like overdone beef stew. Definitely overhyped and overpriced by social media. Note that they have no restroom.
Delicious, lots of meat, unlimited sides, great napkins!
beef soup with rice ONLY, spicy or not spicy.
Tasty!
This place is no-nonsense, one-dish specialty spot and they do it right. Right when you walk in, the staff greets you immediately asks: spicy or non-spicy. No menu, no fuss, just straight-up galbitang. The service is incredibly fast and friendly, and the unlimited banchan refills are a huge plus. This place has definitely blown up on social media and the prices have gone up quite a bit. But despite the price hike, it’s still the OG spot for comforting, flavorful galbitang, especially on a cold day. The portion may look big don’t be fooled, there’s not as much meat; mainly bone. If you’re looking for variety, this isn’t the place, but if you want a solid, no-frills bowl of beef short rib soup, it doesn’t get much better than this

Spicy is the way to go!
If you read the other reviews they mostly talk about how the food here reminds them of their grandparents. If you have that experience it must be awesome. If you do not have that experience it's unclear what this place offers. The stew is flavorless, the meat is low quality, and there is no cabbage to speak of. It's not even spicy despite being very red indeed.
For $20 it's poor value. Better stews are available for less in Manhattan K town.
One of the best Korean beef soup I’ve had compared to other bigger restaurants. The broth is rich and flavorful and it feels very homey. There’s not a lot of seating so I avoid coming during peak hours, they can get crazy busy there especially during the winter. As for the service, not sure why people are complaining. These ladies are so sweet and always checking to see if we wanted refills of any bonchon.
Quick to order and quick to refill. The ladies were always sweet and we always enjoy coming here in the winter. The atmosphere was very homey!
Tasty, good Korean soul food! Loved the experience here.
