Went there recently asked for 1 pound of Boars Head Ham Mario the Owner always with an attitude takes out a piece at the very end so I said can't you open a new ham he Rudely says what am I going to do with So I said it's not my business what you do with but for 14.00 per pound I want quality Ham not something at the very end and dry Go to Marinos Supermarket on 29th Ave the best Cold cuts and Deli in the Area

Came here after getting overpriced at benitendis a few blocks away. 100% a better choice. Great sized sandwiches for reasonable prices. 2 sandwiches and a take home lasagna was under 40. The other place changed me 48. But honestly sad to see this place struggle. You can tell by the old decor and vibe. Sucks because this is how these traditional Italian delis fade and go under. Please come here and support this place. Their food quality and pricing is a bargain. And you won't be disappointed. Don't let another mom and pop spot disappear. Top level italian for reasonable price.

Great service. You can even call in order. Gets busy at lunch. Amazing sandwich menu. We get Vegetarian sandwich (eggplant with Swiss and roasted red pepper) all the time! The other sandwiches are great too.

Very friendly people. Everything here is done the old fashioned way and the right way.I got the Godfather sandwich and it was really good. The bread was fresh and everything was very delicious. Come and try it yourself if you don't believe me.

I’ve held back quite a while for this review because it’s a hidden gem. But I cannot contain my love for this place any longer. Varsi’s is amazing. The staff are friendly, owner is great and best of all, their food is fantastic. I’ve been coming to this place 3-4 times a week for nearly 4 years and I’ve never seen the store empty. Products move quickly and are always fresh. I’ve always said, there’s 10,000 places to get a sandwich in NYC. What differentiates this place from others is their bread! It really makes the sandwich. Their semolina bread is so good. Any sandwich on that bread is worth any wait they may have. Some other amazing offerings are their chicken cutlet, stuffed peppers, potato salad, dried/fresh sausage, their meatballs(I believe only served on Thursdays), Roast pork (also a special once a week). I could go on and on. Everything I’ve tried there is fantastic which brings me to why I’ve decided to write this review. They’ve recently added a new item to the menu. When I tell you that this chicken sandwich beats Chick-Fil-A, I sincerely mean it. It’s called the Chick-A-Varsi. Hands down my favorite chicken sandwich to date. I’m so fortunate to have this chicken sandwich so close to where I work but I would drive an hour or more for it! It’s that good. And for $7, it feels like you’re getting it for a steal. The chicken is perfectly juicy. All the components work together so well and it’s crafted to perfection. The sauce they use with the sandwich really takes it over the top. If you are within an hour from this place, drop everything you’re doing and go get one NOW! To conclude, I can’t speak highly enough about this place. Shout out to Mario, Georgie, James and Dino. Keep up the good work fellas.

Got The Godfather in a semolina hero. $15. Fair price. Bread was terrific. Plenty of meat and cheese. It was delicious. Sandwich was enough for 2 people but I ate the whole thing. No regrets. I'd do it again.
