I absolutely have no words. The ice cream was moldy the customer service terrible. I would really like to know what they’re training is like because if it includes using the n-word in communication with customers then this is a more corporate issue. The young teenager with curly hair serving me and my husband goes off to his phone and starts screaming into the back room saying the n word slur and comes back only to give me possibly the worst ice cream I’ve ever had. The managers start yelling i don’t understand what kind of issues the owners have but I hope corporate sees this.

I went to this carvel and ordered a cherry vanilla cone with rainbow sprinkles. A few steps away from the store and a few licks in i notice a nut, which i am allergic to. I went back in, and politely asked for a new cone with no sprinkles, as i assumed that was where the cross contamination came from. The man working snapped at me that i should have read the sign that they aren’t responsible for accommodating allergies. This sign is not in a visible place, it is not posted near the ordering station but rather adjacent to the registers, and not easy to find at all. As someone with a nut allergy i know that some places arent careful but this notice wasnt clearly posted and this guy was very rude about it, when i wasn’t mad or upset at all. To add insult to injury, the woman working then told me I couldn’t have cherry vanilla as my replacement cone because they dont wash their scoops properly. Then gave me 50 cents from the register as if that is an appropriate consolation prize. Also they advertise in their window a soft serve pumpkin cheesecake ice cream but when my friend’s boyfriend tried to order that they told him they only had the flavor in hard ice cream. I have no issue taking accountability in the fact that i had a moment where I wasn’t as diligent of my allergy as I ought to be, but the staff here was much ruder than they needed to be.

The menu for this store on Metropolitan Ave in Forest Hills advertises $14.99 for 4-6 brown bonnets. When I was there tonight, they would not allow me to buy the package. They wanted to charge me $4.00 each brown bonnet. Zero stars.

I'm shocked. One of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had.I've not been to Carvel in years but decided to give it a try tonight.I chose the wrong place.I asked for a sample of a flavor and was told that they don't have the spoons for it, when I asked if we could just use a regular spoon she clarified that they don't give samples which isn't typical. I almost changed my mind about having Carvel but then but decided "I'm here, might as well get something".I asked the Asian lady (she didn't have a name tag so I have no other way to identify her) who seemed like an owner what her favorite flavor of ice cream is, her reply surprised me."None, I don't like ice cream" so I said, "oh, ok, what DO you like here"?"I DON'T HAVE TO TELL YOU"!At that point, I couldn't hold back. I let her know that she is in the wrong line of work and needs to figure something else out.I do not support this type of behavior in any sort of business.Needless to say, I didn't buy anything, all I wanted was to get something I would like.

It's small, but the ice cream is always good here. Sadly they removed the sitting area ever since the pandemic.

absolutely nasty woman. i ask how she makes the shakes and she said with ice cream and milk. i asked what kind of milk do they use and she said "regular milk that's how a shake is made" as if other milk options don't exist (eg oat, soy, almond). anyways i go with a cone and while i'm going to pay the cone accidentally falls, 100% my fault. we clean up the mess and i ask her can she fix the cone for me since it's all destroyed and fell on the dirty counter. she says "what do you want me to do about it?". i said fix it if possible and she blatantly said "no". pathetic customer service. rude woman right off the bat. i've never been to a place that would willingly said no, most places offer. the only reason i came here was because eddie sweet shop was closed. won't be coming back here again. this is supposed to be a community place.
