“Four of our party were leaf peeping recently around the Old Forge area. This restaurant/bar was recommended to us. We arrived shortly after 11:00am for lunch. The hostess acted as the greeter, waitress, bartender and just about every other position. Our meals consisted of fish fries and chicken wings. The wings came out crispy, tender and flavorful with a choice of sauces. They were meaty and delicious. The fish fry was generous enough where two of us shared. The atmosphere was rustic but pleasant and the bathrooms were extremely clean. I would highly recommend this establishment if you are up in the Old Forge area. Also it is a pleasant ride from the city of Utica. Job well done!!“

“Awesome place, awesome people, awesome food! The "locals" are friendly, fun darts, and even a few arcade style games at the front are just some of the many things that make this place uniquely enjoyable. Just pointing this out, the bigger claw machine is 110% rigged (NO strength), but the road trip game is a blast and would still give that place 6 stars if possible. The Famous Kratzken Burger (I'm unsure on the spelling) had a unique flavor that I loved almost as much as the cajon fries. The only bad thing was I wished I had got the potato salad and the chowder (looked SSOOOO GOOD!!) Wonderful waitress and staff, fun jukebox, and fun decor. Overall, this place is an absolute blast, and would highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun bite to eat in a bar-like setting. Definitely going back!!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Parking: Solid parking, free and plenty of spots. Nothing special, but not badWheelchair accessibility: A ramp to get in the door, seemed pretty good, I think it would be a good spot for anyone in a wheelchair.“

“This was an unexpected highlight of a recenttripto the Adirondacks. Right off, I do prefer places that reflect the local flavor over places that try to reflect the tastes of other places. In other words, I appreciate authenticity. The Tavern on the Gorge boasted a friendly staff, good bar food and a welcoming atmosphere with a good assortment of beverage offerings. I happened to catch this place during a night whereby they had comedians from NYC. The comedians were very good and got plenty of laughs poking fun at the Afirondack lifestyles and values. The patrons appreciated this ribbing and a great night of unexpected fun was a much needed release for me and my wife. We will return on our next trip to the North Country to recapture this homespun experience.“
