We've been coming here for the past three years. My favorite dish is the honey lemon pepper wings with the truffle fries. Oscar makes the best wings! Hot, crispy and well-seasoned. We've tried just about all of the menu items to include the mac and cheese, yams, collard greens, brisket, burgers, Sweet Tai chili wings, ribs and the chicken and shrimp combo. My favorite is the honey lemon pepper wings with a Blue Mai Tai. Their hours during the winter are iffy, but when they are there, it's always a good time. Music is great and the sound is crisp, never too loud. Staff is friendly and the owner always comes out to chat with us. Prices are on par with the rest of the restaurants on the Mile.

If I had the option to leave no stars I would. The only thing that was good wa the wings the collard greens were salty and tough, the potato salad had no taste to it & the yams was from the cans which they could have done better. They offer BBQ wings as an option but charge you $1 for the sauce. There gratitude % is not posted anywhere in the store or on the menu as it should be. This place is just horrific. This is why most African Americans don't support other Black owned businesses. ?

Oh, Backyard Barbecue in Freeport, NY! A total gem! ?

From the moment you set eyes on the food, you're in for a treat the presentation is nothing short of impressive. Every bite bursts with flavor, and it's easily the best soul food I've had at a restaurant in ages. Beyond the exceptional taste, the portions are generous, making it a must-visit spot. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, do yourself a favor and check out Backyard Barbecue; it’s worth every bite!

Wow this was an unexpected gem!! We chose to go to celebrate my birthday and it was Sunday brunch time. Mimosas were delicious! The vibe was incredible and staff is so friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious. The burger was moist and flavorful. My husband had the quarter chicken and it was very tender and delicious. The wings and shrimp were a hit with our boys as well. Will definitely be back with a bigger group.

I hate to slam a business with nice people and the workers were great but the food was a complete let down minus the lemon on pepper wings everything else was extremely dry and rubbery. Also the music was so loud in such a small space that you couldn’t hear anything and it started to distort I can’t stress enough how unnecessarily loud it was. I’m not sure who told the dj or owners that that playing music as loud as possible makes it sounds good but they dropped the ball extremely hard on that one.

Dined here during the week. The host was very attentive, pleasant, great sense of humor.

The food was on point. Well-seasoned, served hot. The potato salad, yams, baked beans, mac n cheese, wings, brisket, bbq chicken was sooooo good…. Amazing!!!!!!!!

I can’t say anything negative about this the food and service… The experience and the atmosphere was real chill.

Music playing in the background at a comfortable level was good too.

The only downside was the mandatory 18% tip ( might as well call it a surcharge) that’s automatically added to all parties of TWO or more (I’m used to deciding how much to tip). Other than this, I will dine here again.

"We had an amazing time at The Backyard Barbecue celebrating two birthdays with our group of 13! The food was mouth-watering, but the ribs stole the show - juicy, succulent, and perfectly charred. John's hospitality was top-notch, making us feel right at home. We can't wait to come back for more and are already planning our next visit. Highly recommend! We're looking forward to bringing more people from our company to experience the delicious food and warm atmosphere. 5 stars and counting!"

Wheelchair accessibility: They were able to accommodate 6 wheel chairs and 2 rollarors from our group.
