The food is great but it's very loud, so it's not a good first date spot.

Overall environment is decent, wine by the glass is reasonably priced. Way cheaper than a glass you can find in the city. Food is not bad, we like the thick cut bacon and the lobster Mac and cheese.I usually gave 5 stars to restaurants even if I find the food or service is not as expected. But I have to say for an oyster bar, the dozen of oyster we ordered for $59 is way over priced and I have had much superior oysters around similar or lower price in the city. See it for yourself in pictures attached.Service is just… horrible. Can’t think of another word to describe.First of all, I noticed they won’t bring out bread unless you ask for it. Not sure if this is a standard practice at the location or not since I don’t see any table near ours got any neither. Not a big deal though I notice when restaurants or managements try to “cut cost” by doing so, it’s usually a red flag.Second, after ordering my red, our server who poured the wine spilled it over our table and my plate without any apology at all.The last straw for us is when our server came to replace our plates, the plate slipped and fall which made a huge bang and knock our butter and bread over the table. Again, no apologies. He put the bread back into the basket. Picked up the plate and cracked a joke about oh it’s not broken lucky me and left. Didn’t even bother to pick up the butter or get another one.Overall, I think the food is ok. For the money spent ($225.95 for two after tax), we could have had fun at many other restaurants that has better service and food in the city. I’m desperate to find a place on the island for a decent meal instead of having to drive to the city but this is definitely not it for me.

I like waterooi very much. I went to this location many years ago. The interior design is also in my mind. We went to the other location in Port Washington because it's closer. But the port Washington was closed. We came back again for a family birthday.Food is good as always. Everyone enjoyed it. We ordered Steak Frites, oysters, fried calamari, 2 modules pots, black linguine eta. One of our neighbor works there, he is generous and sent us a creme brulee and chocolate mousse to celebrate.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant is large and reservations were not needed. The staff is extremely friendly and there's plenty of parking. The serving size is very generous and the prices are reasonable. I got the black squid ink pasta with shrimp and calamari. The dish was missing something but I couldn't put my finger on it. All in all I enjoyed the food.

We had my sister's bridal shower here this past weekend and I was so pleased with our experience that I just needed to write a review. First off, the place itself is beautiful and truly very special- it has an amazing ambiance and is upscale and also quite romantic. The food itself is spectacular- even my daughter's children's meal was amazing. They did this beautiful display of cheeses and fruit and crackers and it was some of the finest quality I've ever seen, which is so funny to say about something as simple as cheese and fruit and crackers but it's the truth! The entrees themselves were all exquisite, and what really set this place apart was the service- every server was attentive, kind and thorough. Carlos, one of the servers, was so kind to myself and my daughter and got me a mocktail without me even having to ask because I am visibly very pregnant, it was such a kind gesture and I really enjoyed it. The staff was amazing with set-up and communication prior to the event and the day of. Parking is also quite good and ample over there and the place is very family friendly. Overall a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend this venue for an event or even just a nice meal out.

Wonderful food and wonderful service. The restaurant is extremely noisy and we could barely hear each other at our table. The walls need something to absorb sound so the ambiance and dining experience would be better

This is that kind of restaurant that slaps a hefty price tag on mediocre dishes and pretends to be upscale. There are very few redeeming qualities of the cooking here. The broth for the mussels? Flat, no richness, no complexity. The fish? Overcooked, and the sides too simple. Cocktails? Don't bother. Everything here is only as good as a diner or a crappy bar. The service, though, is wonderful. They'll make you feel like family as you pay $50 for an entree.

One of the best restaurants I've had in a while due to a lot of restaurants bringing down their food quality.... Not here! Fresh seafood, amazing service and delicious desserts as well. Defiantly recommend this place!

I just left Waterzooi disappointed. A fine restaurant where I have celebrated my birthday, had brunch and lunch with family and friends. Today it seemed the restaurant was well staffed and not crowded; my reservation was for 1:30 we arrived at 1:36. (The hostess was courteous-nice.) We were at our table for 17 minutes and no one approached us with the exception of the water server. As we were leaving the restaurant I saw the hostess and I informed her why we were leaving. At the hostess station there were 3 people who looked like members of the waiting staff along with a lady "in plain clothing", if they couldn't hear me I am pretty sure the hostess let them know why I was leaving. When I went to the app I used to make the reservation there was record of my reservation. As if no reservation ever existed. I was happy and excited to celebrate my daughter's job promotion with my daughter and grandkids; I am grateful to Yelp for this opportunity. I don't think I have left a negative review for a restaurant ever, but today was the day. Again the restaurant might have the power/control/magic to delete a reservation, again thanks Yelp. I am grateful for the opportunity to express the facts and my sentiment of what transpired without pointing other factors like "Diversion and Inclusion" which happen to be a question mark in the equation.

Water was very professional but also very warm. He looked out for us and made sure we did not over order the salads and made Shute we were 100% happy with our order before taking it. The Mussels and Scallops were amazing. The only thing we did not like was the extra shrimp on top of the mussels, they were small in size with no taste. Their chocolate cake dissect was huge. Pricey but large portions

Waterzooi is always a great experience. Usually I get mussels but because it was brunch o tried something new. I got the avocado toast and it was delicious plus they have the best French fries! The main dining room was loud once the room filled up but we had a great time.
