Hands down one of the best restaurant experiences we have ever had. From the vibes of the people, the energy of the place itself, and the incredibly delicious food, we were truly in heaven. I wished we lived closer so we could come once a month. A must get: the pretzel with mustard & cheese; the hot apple cider; the schnitzel with spatzel; and the nine layer honey cake. The complimentary gingerbread cookie at the end was the cherry on top to how amazing this place is. We cannot wait to be back.

First time we went on a Saturday afternoon and there was over an hour wait, we decided not to stay. This time we called and hour before and made a reservation, We were very pleasantly surprised how much we truly enjoyed our food. The service was quick and friendly. The food was delicious and the atmosphere has a comfortable feel to it! We will be back for sure. Sorry to say they will be closed for winter (12/21/25-01/21/26) So I will have to wait :(

Wow. This place really had it all. An incredible homey atmosphere, amazing food and delicious desserts. Fast service and a good time. What else would you want? If you ever find yourself in New Paltz wanting a Schnitzel you have to go here.

Family owned authentic German cuisine, with ethnic specials for different seasons. Friendly atmosphere, delicious food. Can fill up quickly and get noisy, otherwise its great.

I’ve been a life long patron of the Mountain Brauhaus and finally decided to write a review. We went there last night with a 6:10 reservation for 2 people. Got seated on time, bussers and waiter were quick and attentive, and all food and drinks came out perfectly! Not only was the food delicious, it was also such a good deal and the portion sizes were large!! We got a pretzel appetizer, two soups, two beverages, and two entrees (that came with salad and bread) for a total of $100 (before tip)!!!

We love Mountain Brauhaus.
They make an excellent primavera spaetzle which I get every time, being a vegetarian, but my friends get a variety of other dishes, alway delicious. Generous portions. The best side salad ever, the raisin pumpernickel bread, I’d go just for that!

Terrific German Restaurant. Met my brother and his wife there with my wife and daughter. We had a great time. We made reservations and waited for about 5 minutes. There was only one other group waiting. It is the best German food around and the atmosphere is awesome; just like a German mountain restaurant. Highly recommend eating here.

We had an incredible dinner at Mountain Brauhaus. The place has that true multigenerational, family-run feel with authentic German food that actually reminded us of the old Oak Chalet back on Long Island where we live. The cod was particularly unbelievable – perfectly cooked and full of flavor – and all of the German classics we tried were excellent. Our waitress, Francis, her brother, and the entire staff made us feel completely taken care of and created a really relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. A fantastic spot and absolutely worth the visit.

Book in advance, service can be slow and long.
Best to wait for a spot at the bar - better conversation with staff and strangers.
