Went there yesterday evening for our first time. My daughter is lactose intolerant and the waitress helped her find the right meal and dressing that would not aggravate her condition. The waitress was really nice and knowledgeable. I lived in Germany for three years, and I had the Jeager schnitzel, it tasted exactly how I remembered it when I lived in Germany. Their giant pretzel is to die for.

My wife and I went with our 13 month old son. He is very well behaved but has his moments. The staff was incredibly kind to him and accommodating without ever having to ask. It was already one of my favorites but this was above and beyond. Great meal and tremendous service and kindness.

Excellent, delicious food!, amazing staff, everything runs so smoothly, even when they are crazy busy. Just the best dinning experience in a well run, amazing dinning experience. Great beer choices, and the pumpernickel raisin bread is delicious. Beautiful setting!

They really only want large parties and meat eaters.

Food: my salad was a 3 (a seasonal salad with string thin slices of halloumi arranged strangely on the plate and kabocha squash cut into miniature diced pieces reminiscent of small carrots in a 1950's peas and carrots side dish. Barely any Brussels. I didn't have any fennel. What a shame, this could have been glorious.
My husband's pork shank was moist and flavorful. Spaetzl was good.

Small inside - for two people they will wedge you next to loud parties. I got here at 4pm - no I didn't make reservations for a Thursday night. No one was there. No I don't want to sit next to two large parties and receive terrible service. I also don't want to sit staring at peoples a$$ at the bar. 😆

My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a non holiday Saturday without a reservation on our way up to Mohonk Mountain House for a long weekend. We were encouraged to stop by the positive reviews and our love of authentic German food.

At arrival to the parking lot, it was quite full, which we took as a good sign. We went in and the place was packed - there was only room to sit at the bar, which we did. We were greeted by our wonderful server/bartender, and had a great experience. The staff was attentive, the food and beer were outstanding, and the atmosphere was about as upbeat as you could ask for.

I would highly recommend anyone traversing even remotely close to this place stop in for a meal or even a drink. It's a gem of a place.

Parking: Even though the restaurant was full we were able to easily find a space in the large parking lot.

What can be said of this classic? A lively mountain restaurant serving excellent German food and beer. Everything we tried was great. The beer selection is solid and there are enough to keep you busy. Also, try the forest schnapps. Best one I’ve ever had. Stop in for lunch, a late afternoon escape or for dinner. I wish we lived close enough to visit often.

The place is not what it used to be. There is a terrible sewage smell when you walk in that comes from the kitchen.

After a few years making trips down to visit this space I can say it is for sure one of my favorite spots. We drive an hour and half to spend time here and I never regret it. My family arrive early like nerds so we can get a spot at the bar.

The bar is the spot to be. I've been served by the same excellent team each visit and its a pleasure to be taken care of by such pro's. The wine list is excellent, the beer list is great, the food is incredible. I ask for recommendations and they are always great.

My only wish is that they were closer to home as I'd be a weekly visit. Thank you so much for the hospitality and can't wait to see you soon!

This place is a gem for anyone who loves authentic German cuisine. The cozy atmosphere and rustic charm make it perfect for a special occasion or a comforting meal.

A word of advice: be prepared for a long wait and slow service—it’s part of the experience here. The food is made fresh, so it’s worth the patience. We indulged in traditional German dishes that were absolutely delicious and hearty. The flavors were authentic, and the attention to detail was evident in every bite.

The desserts were a standout! They truly nailed it, and it was the perfect way to end the meal. If you’re looking for an intimate spot with quality food and a welcoming ambiance, Mountain Brauhaus is the place to go. Just bring your patience and your appetite!

For me, all German restaurants have to meet a high standard— my Oma’s cooking. Mountain Brauhaus meets that standard and then some!

Went for lunch on a weekday so it wasn't crazy busy. We were seated right away with no reservation. Sat for a bit until water came, that should have been a clue. The food was great and plentiful for the price.
The only downside was the inattentiveness of our server. Someone she knew had come in to eat and that was all she seemed to care about after that. Never asked us how our meals were, if she could get us anything, no free refills on the ice tea were offered. The worse part was sitting and waiting to pay while she chatted with her friends right behind us. It was pretty obvious that we were ready to leave, especially when we put our coats on. Must be hard to find good help these days but a manager should have been on to this also.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at Mountain Brauhaus, more specifically with the hostess. Her behavior was shockingly rude and at times it felt borderline racist.
I initially tried making a reservation over the phone. At first, they said they had open tables but when I told them my name immediately after they claimed there were no available spots. It felt like a deliberate and dismissive move rather than a genuine mix-up.
We decided to drive there another day to have dinner, hoping the phone interaction was just an honest mistake. When we arrived the hostess was dismissive and condescending toward us, offering a stark contrast to the warmth and hospitality she showed to other guests. It left us feeling unwelcome and deeply uncomfortable.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fair and welcoming dining experience.
