Waited over an hour to be served because of someone being trained in the kitchen, supposedly. Been there half a dozen times, love the place, but they were too cavalier about the long wait and didn’t apologize or offer us a break on the bill.

Overall, my experience at Shadow 66, a charming French restaurant nestled in the picturesque town of Ghent, New York, just a short drive from Hudson, was exceptional. The moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the restaurant's elegant ambiance, adorned with historical artifacts and a beautifully restored 1966 Citroen DS. The attentive waitstaff was knowledgeable about the menu, although we were disappointed to learn about the specials only after ordering. The braised beef, which was cooked to perfection with a rich and savory sauce, was absolutely delicious. The combination of the delicious food, unique atmosphere, and impeccable service, aside from the oversight regarding specials, made Shadow 66 the ideal choice for my birthday celebration. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience in the Hudson Valley.

A great restaurant with excellent French bistro favorites as well as impressive upscale options, all within a comfortably elegant space designed with an automobile twist.
The staff is professional, friendly, and if you’re lucky you’ll be treated to the effortless style & razor sharp wit of co-owner Astrid.
One can have simple classics such as onion soup gratinée, escargot in parsley garlic butter, a cheese & charcuterie board, or mussels Provençal.
If one is looking to indulge, Chef & co-owner Patrick Jehanno has included upscale French favorites such as classic beef tartare, Osetra caviar with traditional accompaniments, and entrées such as delicious duck confit with potatoes gratin or the impressive “Moroccan Couscous Royal“ - featuring seasonal vegetables in a beautiful cumin broth with lamb, chicken, meatballs, and Merguez sausage!
It is a rather large space but it has an intimate and elegant feel to it; thanks to a thoughtful layout, antique automobile-inspired decor, and the unique display of two stunning vintage Citroën cars! There is exceptional attention to detail with each and every choice throughout the entire space. The surrounding Ghent countryside is inarguably beautiful, but it’s a treat to be virtually transported to France when one visits Shadow 66.
Dietary restrictions: They were very considerate and accommodating with a companion’s dietary restrictions (gluten free as a Celiac).

one of our favorites! -- incredibly delicious food, great staff, and one of the most unique settings in upstate NY,,,,the design and details that went into the creation of this restaurant are top notch -- and the attention to detail and flavor on every plate makes dining at Shadow a real pleasure --

I was pleasantly surprised to find this exquisite cuisine just 15 minutes from my Hudson home. Shadow 66 is a family owned restaurant that has a unique vibe with really cool antique cars and automotive signage in the dining area. I sat at the bar and had the mushroom soup, the duck confit and the apple tart. It was a 10 out of 10 and probably the best duck I’ve ever tasted.

I love everything about this space! The food is amazing, carefully prepared with the highest quality ingredients. The service is just as good as the food. Attentive and professional, especially the French lady, she did everything she could to make us feel comfortable. Can’t wait to go back!

i hate this place, i went with my wife and this French waitress, who seemed to by in her 50's and could have owned the place. nonstop treated us with disrespect, like we weren't spending $100 DOLLARS per person! if your looking for high quality food in the area, just go to feast and floret, there the staff is actually kind to you, and treats you like a human being

Lovely fascinating decor,it was busy but not crowded and the noise level was quiet for the number of people dining.I have known this building itself over many years and the transformation is astounding.. so enjoyed our dinner. From the moment we stepped through the door and upon our leaving it was a wonderful evening..

What a find! We could not have enjoyed a meal more: the owners and staff are so welcoming, enthusiastic and deservedly proud of their restaurant. Everything we ordered was perfect: beef tartare, crab/salmon pillow and a couscous dish, as well as a perfect île flottante. The setting is spectacular: pictures to follow!

This place is amazing! Everything on the menu is exquisite, even the “little things” like carrots and green beans.
We’ve been 3 times. Each dish is fabulous. Highly recommend the mussels and filet. Definitely get the potatoes gratin!
