This place is a low key eatery for locals with very little frills and thrills. Three out of five stars for this “average” place, a rating of good food and decent service. What a hidden gem of a restaurant! Why call it a cafe? Next door is Starbucks and that's a cafe with coffee & desserts. I personally feel that the desserts are better here at the American Cafe. This place serves up great casual comfort food. Many daily specials posted on their blackboards. Best of both worlds right next door to each other and so near the AMC Theater. Stopped in after touring Garvies Point Museum and Preserve. The three of us all choose different sandwiches and loved them. Staff very friendly and accommodating. We left wishing we did not live so far away so we could frequent the American Cafe on a frequent basis.
