I was spending a few hours with friends I had not spent time with in person for several years. At one point, one in our party wanted coffee, so we decided to look around for a place for coffee, and found Cafe Nico's. The cappuccino was delicious, and I also had a flaky pastry filled with a vanilla custard sauce. Since the cafe is Italian, I cannot refer to it as a croissant. This is one of the few places that is cash only. I look forward to returning, the first chance I can.

I was just driving by and saw the sign "Nico's Cafe Calabria." So, being that I'm always in search of good espresso, I had to stop in and give it a shot. Usually in these places there are some old Italian guys hanging out arguing about soccer in Italian, but this place was empty except for the woman who works there. However, there were the obligatory pictures of team Italia on the walls. Anyway, ordered my espresso and on my own, ridiculously picky scale of espressos, this one was good. The size was right, a "shot," not the double that you get in most places. The crema was fine (the sugar hesitated before sinking in) and the taste was fairly smooth. All in all, a satisfactory espresso. Have no idea about anything else in the store, but I would check it out again if I were in the area.
