Hungry Monster Tasty Pot（巴肚妖美味锅）

I ordered the beef skewers. First there was no beef, just fat, I mean pure fat and no beef at all. I had ordered take out and I was far away to return when I tri3d one of the skewers. When I had got home that night with the uneaten portions I decided to heat it up and check the rest. Never even tried it cause it smelled ranked or spoiled. The pumpkin patties were good though.

The food quality was extremely disappointing. The squid arrived very pink, which usually means it hasn’t been fresh for days. Their Sauerkraut Fish looked nothing like the photo on the menu and had almost no resemblance to authentic Sauerkraut Fish besides the fact that it contained fish. The color and taste of the snakehead fish fillet was off, and I ended up with diarrhea shortly after eating here.

If you care at all about food quality, I would avoid this place.

It was so hard to find good dry pot places in my area . Finally , I found hungry monster!! One of the best meals I’ve had recently. The quality of the food was outstanding and the service was top-notch. The staff made us feel very welcome. I highly recommend this place!

I have been here more than one year. I really love their hot fish soup and dry pot. Their ingredients are always so fresh and all staff are very nice. I strongly recommend them !!

The food was good, but the experience at the end completely ruined it.

I came here today with my son. When we finished paying, the suggested 15% tip on the receipt was a little over $5. I didn’t have exact change, and the cash I had on hand was about $4.70 in small bills and coins. Since it was close enough and I didn’t want to ask the server to break more bills just for a few cents, I simply left all the change I had on the table as the tip.

As we were walking out, the server stopped us and told me that the tip was less than 15% and asked me to add more before leaving. I was honestly shocked. I have lived in the United States for many years and this is the first time a server has stopped me to demand that I meet a specific tip percentage — especially over such a small difference.

To be honest, if I truly felt the service wasn’t worth tipping, I could have left nothing at all, although I know that would not be considered appropriate. That’s exactly why I still left the change I had. But insisting that a customer must meet a strict 15% amount feels unreasonable and a bit absurd.

In the end, I reluctantly gave him a full bill just so he could have his exact 15%. Unfortunately, the service during the meal had already felt quite cold and unfriendly. I said “thank you” each time food was brought to the table, but the response was minimal.

It’s unfortunate, because the food itself was good. But being stopped over a few cents of tip left a very negative impression.

The food was to die for!!! I cannot thank the staff enough for a wonderful experience for my son’s birthday. They enjoyed the flavorful chicken and we were taken care of thank you guys from the bottom of my heart.

My friend and I - both longtime lovers of Asian cuisine - were originally headed to another spot for lunch, but it was closed for a break until 5 PM. Hungry Monster was nearby, so we decided to give it a try - and we’re so glad we did!
Though the restaurant is small, it’s incredibly cozy and comfortable, with a mix of four-person tables and bar-style seating with stools. When we arrived, there were only a couple of teenagers sipping smoothies, so we practically had the place to ourselves. That meant we got the full attention of our wonderful waiter, Biscuit, who was very attentive and made us feel well cared for from start to finish.
We both ordered their signature dish package - I chose the soup-based seafood package, and my friend ordered the beef version. Each dish came served in a small cauldron, full of different ingredients and rich flavor. The portions were generous, so I ended up taking half of mine home. As a nice touch, they packed my leftovers in a high-quality branded bag with the restaurant’s name, which I really appreciated.
We ended our meal with drinks - mine was a refreshing grapefruit and lemon green tea, and my friend had a Mango Tea Yakult, which was fruity, creamy, and perfectly balanced.
The ambiance added to the experience. The decor combines traditional Asian elements with anime-style art, even on the bathroom door! It was fun, vibrant, and gave the place a unique personality. Pleasant background music played throughout the meal - it was noticeable enough to enhance the atmosphere but soft enough not to interfere with conversation.
Some practical notes:
• They offer delivery, and you can get a 10% discount on takeout if you pay in cash.
• They’re open every day.
• The only downside is parking - limited spots in front of the restaurant and no obvious public parking nearby. You can risk parking in the nearby plaza, but there are tow warnings posted. Thankfully, we didn’t have any trouble.
All in all, we had a wonderful lunch at Hungry Monster. The food was fantastic, the service was top-notch, and the whole experience felt welcoming and personal. We’ve been to many Asian restaurants before, and this one stood out in the best way.

The hot-pot was great with a good amount of options for you to customize! The atmosphere gave a Japanese feel and the service was great. The food came in a moderate time.
