Moonstone has very good food but is severely overpriced. Wildly in fact. It doesn't really bother you because everything is tasty. However, the manager needs a new and better attitude. It is the only restaurant where we dine that tells us we can't take unfinished wine home as the law allows. We paid for it, the bottle is ours. We are told NO because if we get stopped by police the restaurant may get sued for letting us drink alcohol. Ridiculous, and if the ownership doesn't know this it should lose its liquor license. And its customers. Last night after considerable hostility, the manager screamed "Take it!" We did. I don't know for how long but the restaurant appears to be under a different ownership than when it began years ago. This was never a problem before, though I admit we usually finish our bottle. Unfortunately, this was the second such occurrence and will certainly affect any return visit.
Food is delicious! Food presentation is excellent! Service is professional! Ambience is welcoming. Restaurant is clean, including restrooms.
We were rushed out for no reason the place was not crowded . They completely rushed us out
One of the finest Asian restaurants in Long Island. It is also one the best in all of New York. Always consistent very fine food and service. ny
We just got back from celebrating my brothers nuptials and there aren't enough great things that I can say! Everything was delicious and the service was superb! Never a bad experience when we go here. Everything was great!

G-R-E-A-T Chinese cuisine for those who can afford it. Dinner for two, likely $160.00 to $220.00 That's including a 20% tip. Very attentive service. Fantastic wine list. Interesting cocktails ($17.00 each) and Mocktails (for kids and grownups) who prefer to skip the alcohol. Extensive and expansive menu. The decor is modern and in VERY refined taste. Not your local "Chow-mein" emporium's vulgar decor. They really went "all out" A sense of calm, graceful furnishings, low key color pallet and a welcoming . . . "hello, rich folks" vibe, The wife and I go there for special celebrations and when we need to "chill out" after a tough week, and don't mind splurging a bit. Went there three weeks ago.(1) each had one appetizer. (2) One main course each. (3) Shared a dessert for two. (4) One "Mocktail" for me, one bottled water for me, one diet coke for her. With a generous 20% tip, "rounded up", $213.00 bucks. So, if you're in the mood for . . ."THE FREAK'EN BEST" Chinese food in all of Queens, on a par with NYC's best . . . almost a "Mr. Chow", of Queens, (AND) you did well in "the market" last week, or your lottery ticket came in, we'll "see ya there"! PS: You'll find mostly - self indulgent, "Peter Luger" Great Neck crowd there. Mostly . . . . . . ."S-Class" Benzies and Beamer M-1's in the parking lot. Oh, and my low ticket ($41K) Sonata "Limited". Lol, lol, lol! And, if ya don't know who/what Peter Luger is . . . then stick with your local Chinese (dinner for two, about $45.00 bucks) emporium.
ENJOY. Ya'all deserve it, baby! BTW. I deducted one star, because it's noisy! Lots of "well-healed" Great-Neck'ers laughing and boasting!

I've been going there for years. The host rolled her eyes at me when I walked in with 9 people without a reservation. The resturant was empty and it was during off dinner hpurs. She accomodated us.
The food is great and I never had an issue. They offer a menu that has everything and a second menue that is fixed with some choices. I brought some friends over (a party of 9) to try the place and some friends wanted to order from the fixed menu. I was told the the chief serves fixed menues to a max of parties of seven. I know that was a lie because I have seen bigger parties served the fixed menu.
I didnt argue so we ordered from the regular menu and had a good time. We didn't order drinks and the tab came out to half the price it if we would have ordered from the fixed menue.
I don't understand the attitude and why the resturant would opt not to serve the from the fixed menu. I was dissapointed.

I find this place to be a little bit expensive Place very big and clean For the price they could offer tea and I think that they think their food is better than it really is not bad But you get fooled because it's a fancy place

A friend and I ate dinner at Moonstone last night. The place is pretty, the service attentive, the ambiance inviting & the food average + , but nowhere does it warrant the exorbitant high pricing it commands. It's the most expensive Chinese food I've ever eaten and there is absolutely no good reason. We each had 1 drink, we shared 1 app, 1 noodle dish and 1 shrimp dish & our bill was ridiculous. I can't justify these prices, so I won't go again.
Enormous and delicious egg roll. Wonderful shrimp toast. Scrumptious duck noodle soup. Wonderful waitress who was very helpful, and very attentive.

As you can see I highly rated this restaurant. Modern and elegant for fine dining and the atmosphere, service and yes even the food is exquisite. Beef so juicy and tender with a superb taste. If you like Chinese and Japanese food without having to go to Flushing, N.Y. look no further. This is it. Truly a lovely place to dine with your family or just you and your spouse. There's no other place like it. It's a little pricey but I tell you it's worth the price.
Parking: They have their own parking lot and there's also parking on the street.

My bf and I come here almost every week on the way back from the city for the weekend. The atmosphere is so cozy, romantic, upscale and clean. The staff is so kind, professional and light hearted. The food options are endless. I try something different almost every time, and each one is made with the highest quality and unique taste.
