We had an 8:15 PM reservation on Valentine’s Day, arrived on time with our two children. The waiting area was extremely overcrowded, shoulder to shoulder with people, chaotic and very uncomfortable, especially with kids. There was no available seating in the waiting area so we were standing the entire time with two hungry children in a packed space. There was also no clear organization or communication from the host stand about expected wait times.
Around 8:50 PM, I checked in again and specifically asked whether we should continue waiting since we had children who were getting hungry and tired. We were told it would be just a few more minutes. Another 25 minutes passed with no update and by 9:10 PM, nearly an hour after our reservation time, we still had not been seated.
We ultimately had to leave because the environment was not manageable for children and there was no transparency about the delay. We understand that Valentine’s Day is busy, but the issue was the lack of honest communication and the overcrowded, disorganized, waiting situation. If we had been told upfront that the delay would be close to an hour, we would have made a different decision.
We have been patrons of both Peter Luger locations for years, but tonight was the last straw. The complete disregard for our time and for the time of everyone waiting was extremely disappointing. For a restaurant at this price point and reputation, better reservation management and clearer communication with guests should be expected. It felt like reservations were significantly overbooked and poorly managed. Very disappointing experience and ,unfortunately, we will not be returning.

Let me start off by saying that Peter Luger has one of the best steaks I've tasted in my life.. I went to Peter Luger for dinner. The host was kinda rude. She kept on saying how they don't accept cash and they don't accept debt lol... The bill was $311.00 for the 2 of us. The waiter was amazing. I think his name was Lorik.. He got a nice tip. He was so nice to us.. He recommended wine for us and told me to try the cheesecake which was excellent. I don't like cheesecake but now I do. Thank you for making my experience great. #1 of the best steaks you will ever taste.....

It doesn't matter if you made a reservation; you'll always be waiting too long in the crowd. A whole bunch of people couldn't even find a seat and had been waiting 30 minutes.

Fourth and last time I will be visiting PL. my first two experiences were great (Brooklyn and Great neck) the last two have been disappointing. The food is not the same, quality and execution is not at PL’s years 2018 or 2019.
Another negative is that they do not accept any foreign credit or debits cards, so they made me go to the atm in the rain to withdraw cash today at the Great neck location. Plus after I withdrew I left a tip that apparently was high enough and the employee at the door had to scream it embarrassing me.

Reserving went awful. My fiance tried to make a reservation and two different staff pretended to not hear him and hung up on him MULTIPLE times a few seconds into the call 😆 We switched phones to try calling and they continued to hang up on him. Finally, I took over to ask why they are hanging up, and all of a sudden they can hear me.
Must be getting paid a lot to be comfortable in ruining people’s day, good for you guys! 💅 👑

Just left Peter Luger Steak House in Long Island, and once again, I was not disappointed. This was my second visit.
We were served by Gail, and his attention was amazing. He makes you feel very comfortable, very respectful and professional, but also fun. When ordered cranberry juice, he joked and said, “Vodka cranberry?” Little moments like that make the experience even better.
We were celebrating a birthday, but we didn’t tell anyone. When we asked for the bill, we joked about guessing the total. Normally, whoever gets closest doesn’t pay i just remember that, but because I had three glasses of Pinot Noir, I made a mistake and said the opposite. Regardless, I was ready to pay I was actually hoping to lose… just kidding 😄
While bringing the bill, Gail surprised us with a dessert and sang Happy Birthday, which was such a thoughtful gesture.
The food was outstanding. The crab cakes were delicious, the steak was perfectly cooked, super tender, and the temperature was just right. The asparagus was the perfect complement.
Gail is truly an asset to this restaurant and made our experience even more special.

The manager was drunk and rude
The waiters act so entitled like they own the place. No sense of manners and maybe some of them can enroll in an anger management class or something. Steak was mid, much rather go to Longhorn Steakhouse
