I’ve been to the Peter Luger in Great Neck several times over the years, and sadly, this last visit on October 2, 2025 (around 12:00 PM) was the worst dining experience I have ever had anywhere. From the very beginning, things felt off. Once again, our group was placed in a small, isolated corner table — something that has happened every single time we’ve come. It’s hard not to wonder if this repeated treatment has anything to do with the fact that we are Asian guests. It certainly felt that way. Then came the shocker: while serving, the waiter dropped the steak directly on the table, picked it up with no hesitation, and placed it back on my plate as if nothing had happened. No apology, no replacement, no acknowledgment of how unacceptable that is — both from a sanitary and professional standpoint. The same waiter was rude, dismissive, and visibly irritated throughout the meal. Plates were literally thrown onto the table, and there was zero sense of hospitality or respect. I’ve dined all over the world — from casual diners to Michelin restaurants — and I have never experienced this level of disrespect and disregard for basic service standards. This isn’t just bad service; it’s a total breakdown of decency and professionalism. I left feeling not only disappointed but deeply insulted. It’s disgraceful for a restaurant with such a long-standing reputation to treat guests this way. I sincerely hope the management investigates this matter seriously and retrains their staff. For now, I would strongly caution others before spending their hard-earned money here. The name “Peter Luger” means nothing if this is the kind of experience they allow to happen.

There’s not much about this place that hasn’t already been said but I realize that Great Neck is such a better experience than Brooklyn and I just want to share that. The food seems more cared for and we just always feel more cared for.. from the waitstaff to especially Kaitlyn (sp?) and Catherine at the front desk, you feel far more cared for and human at Great Neck.. If you’re going to eat the best steak in the world, at least be treated that way. A++

Customers consistently praise the dry-aged porterhouse and rib steaks for their exceptional flavor, juicy texture, and perfect cooking. I always order Peter Luger juicy and fatty, delicious, huge RIBEYE STEAK--the best Ketogenic/ Carnivore choice, along with butter and thick pork belly bacon 🥓
The extra-thick bacon, creamed spinach, and German fried potatoes are must-try sides that complement the steak beautifully.
I love their huge, delicious, fatty ribeye steak. It's a must try.
Friendly and expeditious service. You will not be disappointed.

Great steak, still the best in NY hands down. Ribeye is the one for me , Holly cow is a must to end the dinner on a high note. Great service as always.

I tried the hamburger and the famous German fried potatoes for the first time after eating at this restaurant since 1997. Wow! What was I thinking sticking to steak only. My palate was pleasantly pleased.

First time trying Peter Luger Steakhouse. Reserved on the phone on a Sunday afternoon. We were welcomed by the host and were seated soon after. Our waiter was very friendly and courteous.
We ordered steak for three and a rib steak. The rib steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare and were tender. All the steaks were cut into pieces and served to our plates by the waiter.
The mushroom and asparagus were great as well. I wish the butter for the bread were whipped but it was good.
Overall, I would return on a special occasion.

We started off on a good note with free valet parking, which was a nice touch. Though we had a 7:15 reservation, we waited about 30 minutes in a packed lounge area with limited seating.
Service was excellent! Our waiter, Peter, was fantastic and very attentive. We ordered the rib steak, which was decent, but honestly didn’t live up to the hype or the high price tag. Sides like the creamy spinach and French fried potatoes were just okay. The highlight of the meal was definitely dessert! The sundae was outstanding, one of the best I’ve had! The little chocolate coin at the end was a sweet finish. The ambiance was fine, though quite loud, probably not ideal for a quiet, intimate dinner. Overall, it was an okay experience, but personally, I don’t think it’s worth the premium price.

Doesn't let you do takeout unless you have some card or come in person to order. A bit archaic don't you think?

The server literally cut our steak with a spoon, and served it to us on our plates. Great flavor, still the same from when I was a kid. Can’t go wrong with simple perfection. Get the lyonnaise potatoes and the spinach. Also the best! Oh… get the coffee too! Seriously a surprisingly great cup!

One of the best steak you will have in town! The pricing is a bit high, so we go maybe once a year or so, but great food, service and atmosphere. Plan to spend about 150-200 if two people are going and getting steak, sides, drinks, etc. It is worth the pricing however!

Consistently the most delicious porterhouse in NY! The staff is great and makes you feel like you were there last week even if it's been months or longer.
