Food was ok. But I never had sushi that have fish scale in it. This is my first time eating sushi with fish scale . It’s like a big no no for sushi.

I ordered two orders of the three roll lunch special via Grubhub. It was for a graduation party. But I was surprised by how poorly the rolls were made. It’s like a child made them. The rolls were falling apart and unlike what I had seen before. I also paid an extra dollar for brown rice, but they completely ignored the request. I don’t even want my dollar back. I will no longer be going to Shoshaku after this experience.

This place has really good sushi and the sets are filled with mouth-watering food. The atmosphere was pretty basic and the service was great, we got the food really quickly and it will be worth the drive

The slices of Sashimi selection were quite thin, although they did taste fresh. We loved the fried prawn tempura roll.

The fish are extremely fresh, and the pairing of rice and fish is very well-balanced. Especially the rice, which is soft yet chewy. We ordered a set, which had a wide variety of fish, with different types well-matched, satisfying the tastes of most people. The price is still quite reasonable. In the Great Neck area, this is truly a hidden gem of a restaurant.

I've been coming here for 5 years and made it a point to support it all throughout the pandemic. Their service was lacking but the sushi was fresh and of good quality. I enjoyed having the Shoshaku set and brought many people here each time.

I couldn't visit for a few months and when I went today, it was horrible. The fish was watery; or dry and tasteless. The rolls were stale and old. It was obvious the sushi chef has changed. The price is too high for bad sushi.

I'm so sad to have lost my go to place for good sushi. Shoshaku, please bring back the quality.

Food was great. We thought it was the typical quality of Chinese owned restaurant but the quality of the sushi is good. Had the oxtail fried rice, not much beef/oxtail and they were in shreds and bits. Very stingy with the meat. Kamachi was good. Agedashi tofu was not that great, the battery is thick, fried batter and a little stale.

Our go to spot for local, fresh sushi. Hot Mama and eel, spicy tuna and toro are our favorite options.

Pretty good local Great Neck sushi restaurant. All the sushi & sashimi is prepared fresh and reasonably priced. The restaurant is not big but plenty of elbow room nonetheless. Staff is pleasant and well mannered. Overall a pleasant experience.

My only concern for not giving a five star review is their miso soup is on the thin side, meaning lack of miso paste. In addition, the ginger dressing in their house salad is pretty watery. Maybe it was just an isolated incident, but let’s see next time.
