First and South Restaurant & Bar

Our experience here started out very nicely as we had a wonderful waitress that was pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. Unfortunately, the meal was marred by the rudeness of the hostess, another person and I believe to be the owner of the restaurant when my daughter entered the ground level of the restaurant where we were seated at 5:00 pm in a almost empty space. She came in with her stroller to get a bottle for her 3 month old and was instantly surrounded one after the other about their no stroller policy! She was not intending to leave stroller inside the restaurant. The owner told her to put the car seat attachment on a chair which is very dangerous to do and again she just wanted to pu her baby bottle. It was unecessary to have 3 individuals all come at her at the same time with the same message.It seemed like an attack and totally unprofessional that all 3 were at our table to enforce this law. We booked an early time as not to disturb customers with our 3 month old and are very aware of being considerate to other diners, we left shortly after not having dessert or coffee as usual. When I got home and looked at my bill I realized I had left an additional $78 tip as we were charged a 20%gratuity for parties of 6 or more which came to $65.65. I guess the 3month old was considered a diner after all! lol As I Said before our waitress that night was great and I hope she reeked the benefits of the additional tip!

Lively place with a excellent selection of always well constructed meals. Staff at the bar is attentive and always available. Can get 3 deep at the bar so try to make reservations if you are going for dinner.

GF fish and chips scratched my itch for fried fish. So good. I tried to get a good picture but I inhaled it too quickly. Chicken sandwich for the non-supportive GF…she liked it a lot. Drinks were good. Ashley…great server with great recommendations.

A complete wonderland of people . Blue collar , white collar , libs , repubs, gay straight , white black brown . Never felt better in a pub in my life , I’ve been to thousands ! Great place! Even better humans 10/5 go there it’s a must hit .

My first time visiting greenport, and this place is definitely a hidden gem! I'm so glad that I've found this place by accident. The staffs were attentive and very nice, the food was awesome and tasty! Highly recommend this place and would definitely go again if I'm visiting newport in the future!

Was in town for high school sports. Googled nearby restaurants and couldn’t believe how lucky we were to find this place! Charming atmosphere, friendly staff and incredible food. Would drive the hour just to eat here again ;actually over an hour)!!

We absolutely adore First and South! It’s our favorite spot in Greenport, and we make it a tradition to come here every year for our siblings weekend. The food is always incredible, the drinks are perfectly crafted, and the staff treats you like family. Every visit feels special—this place truly has our hearts!

Disappointed, after high expectations, based on reviews and local reference. Burger was so, so, fries were cold and cocktail was below average. Noah’s was much better and Sofies was also a hit. 👎

Make a reservation if you can! Delicious food and great service. Lots of drink and food options. Indoor and outdoor seating. Casual vibes, yet finer dining feel. Live music was a plus!
