Village Tavern Restaurant & Inn

Village Tavern in downtown Hammondsport is a great place to grab a casual meal or just a drink at the bar.
Hostess and wait staff are always friendly, efficient and attentive. I have eaten here several times with friends and with family and have usually been very happy with the food. I would mention that most recently, we went in (4 family members) for their much hyped Fish Fry and is was already Sold Out (at 5:30 pm). So, if you are going for a specific menu item, call ahead to make sure they have it avaliable.

Really good food in a picturesque little town.

Stopped in for the Monday night steak special. It was phenomenal! Couldn’t recommend it enough! Delicious food, friendly staff, great service!

Stopped in for dinner. The she-crab bisque soup and the shrimp and grits dish were phenomenal! The portions of the entrees were a decent size and reasonably priced.

Had a really good meal here our first night in the Finger Lakes. I had the BBQ Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese while my wife had the Ahi Tuna. We got beignets and sticky bun bread pudding for dessert to go too! The place wasn’t too busy, and we were seated right away. Everyone was very friendly and the food was really good. The portion sizes are huge! I definitely recommend this place for a good meal in Hammondsport.

Amazing food and service.

I was up here last week for a bachelorette party for my soon to be sister in law. On both nights we stopped here for dinner and we had such a wonderful time! The food was amazing and the staff were so nice! If you’re in the area, I highly recommend, I still am thinking about the food a whole week later. I got the barbecue pulled pork (over Mac n cheese) and the chicken parmigiana. Hope to come back sometime in the near future!!

Much more varied menu then in past seasons. Excellent service and food was delicious!

The delicious steak lunch special offered on the winter day we visited was wonderfully savory. It was quite unexpected as we had assumed this was mainly a burger joint, but the food options were surprisingly refined for such a small venue. We complemented our meal with an excellent bottle of wine from a local vineyard. The service was as friendly and welcoming as can be, but the temperature inside the restaurant was cool for some reason. I would assume reservations are required during tourist season in the summer months.

This is a review of the restaurant as we did not stay at the Inn. A rainy Saturday my family and I stopped in after touring the Curtiss Museum. WHAT A PLEASANT SURPRIZE! The staff was attentive and the food was impressive! I didn't think we would find a lunch menu with a Creole/Cajun twist from New Orleans but here it was and with all the flavors. From the soups to the French Beignets a la Cafe Du Monde. What a treat, can't wait to return to try other menu items. Great service and food. Thanks for the Hospitality. 1/14/26

Great food, great service

We had a wonderful time at the tavern! The food was awesome, we shared everything because I wanted to try so much- she crab soup, crab and gouda cheesecake- (sounds weird but was totally amazing). Also a seafood dish I can't pronounce and stuffed mushrooms . Everything was done perfectly and quickly. Our server Cheri was really friendly and funny and did not let our drinks go empty! A great list of local wine from the best wineries within throwing distance. Can't wait to go back. Really fun Date night ( :

The best food in Hammondsport! We own a lake house and frequent here. Our favorite waitress is Cheri- she’s been working there for years. The best shrimp and grits- authentic. They also offer a very fair priced tasting meal if you’re super hungry. We love the vibe, food and yummy drinks!

While shopping in the lovely village of Hammondsport, my friends and I went to dinner at the Village Tavern Restaruant & Inn. We were pleasently surprised with how tastey our food was. Our server Cheri was fantastic! She was very attententive to our table, made great recommendations and was very personable. She made us feel welcome and as if we were regulars. We will be back for more good food, good local wine and for the exemplary service.
