Been going here for many years mostly for the best lobster roll anywhere but not this time. Usually the lobster roll is filled with chunks of lobster in a relatively light mayonnaise seasoned dressing on a ciabatta roll, not a hot dog roll like many places.
This time the lobster roll was what appeared to be shredded lobster in a much too heavy mayonnaise dressing that disguised the lobster flavor. Very disappointing and hopefully just a bad day.

Clam chowder was excellent. Lobster rolls and duck wings were also good.

We waited 1 hour and 45 minutes for a table. They kept saying we were next. Tried getting a drink from the bar, 25 minutes. Finally sat at our table and ordered immediately. After 25 minutes we asked about our food. "It was next in line" After another 10 minutes asked for a manager. He came out annoyed. Said he would check on it. Another 10 minutes, I go inside again, there was the manager behind the bar pouring himself a beer. The food finally came out. The waitress didn't say a word. The restaurant was not very busy.

I've been meaning to come back here as this was an incredible place for seafood. I was here in June 2023 - and my experience was so good that this was the restaurant I frequented during my stay in Hampton Bays. I'm disheartened by the negative reviews I'm currently reading and hope that the next time i return my experience will be just as positive.

The seafood was fresh and plentiful. I can't wait to visit again!

We showed up today at 11:50. 10 staff members were seated at 2 indoor tables. We politely asked if they were open. They said at 12. So we asked them could we sit by the bar. They said no. Then we asked could we sit by the patio. They said, no, sit outside by the picnic tables. Mind you, the tables are in full sun and it's 95 degrees, so we left. Someone could have taken the weather into consideration. We could not believe it.

No frills seafood spot. Lots of seafood options with fantastic gazpacho. Nice views too. Usually an hour plus wait on the weekends to sit outside for dinner in the summer

Went for dinner. The wait was unacceptable. The appetizers we had were clams and calamari were delicious. The Mains were ordinary. It was nice to be sitting outside near the water looking at the boats .

I had heard good things about the restaurant and read several reviews however, on the night I went I was not impressed, we started off with calamari , which was just OK, I ordered a gazpacho soup. which was very thin and watery, my daughter ordered a burger, , medium rare it came very well done, my wife ordered a salad with lobster, there was very little lobster in the scoop of lobster and the salad was just house greens without any other items at all. I had the fish and chips and substituted double coleslaw for the fries. The coleslaw came in puddle of mayonnaise and water. And the fish was very greasy from being deep fried for so long. Maybe I hit an off night but I will not rush back. That’s for sure.

What I love about Canal Cafe is the delicious food. However, the one negative about this place is the long waiting time. Overall, it's a great place to be to dine.

Great spot for outside dining overlooking the marina. Good menu for sharing items with a nice drink menu. I'm not sure why pets are allowed. Witnessed two dogs that were not service labled. Staff did a job not tripping over these animals. No reservations means a wait, but with a drink in this setting it seems short.

Great service till we were pushed out and soon as we paid the bill and were waiting for my sister to come back from the bathroom. And it’s just so happened that we were the only POC at this establishment. Very rude and would not return.
