Gasho of Japan in Hauppauge is a popular hibachi restaurant that offers a fun and entertaining dining experience. Here's a quick summary of what diners can expect:
* Food: The food is generally good, with fresh ingredients and generous portions. Hibachi chefs put on a entertaining show while cooking your food at your table.
* Service: Service can be slow at times, especially when the restaurant is busy. However, the waitstaff is usually attentive and friendly.
* Ambiance: The restaurant has a family-friendly atmosphere with a traditional Japanese farmhouse theme. They recently renovated the interior, creating a more modern and inviting space.
* Value: Prices can be a bit on the high side, especially for drinks. However, the lunch specials offer a good value.

Came up saying I visited a year ago. I’ve actually visited several times since the latest being January 7, 2024. Love their food and there is plenty of it. Hibachi is so fresh and delicious and the gentleman cooking. It was a complete entertainer.

Insanely loud.. the food was not like I remembered from years past. We sat at the Hibachi table and ordered the standard meals. The rice was really nasty and think the chef forgot to add some ingredients, tasted like runny eggs. Filet mignon was super chewy and my kids complained about the chicken having a weird texture.. definitely our last meal at this over rated restaurant.

We made reservations one week ahead for over 20 of us. When we got there, we had to wait 30 minutes. And the restaurant is way too cold inside.

Went for New Year's Eve so was not expecting a great experience, but this was disappointing overall. Okay they had a special menu (aka more expensive) with less offerings but that's business. However waiting over 30 minutes for a reservation is unacceptable to me for what was a lackluster meal. Food was meh, the onion soup and hibachi shrimp were really good, the salad dressing and sauces were off like watered down then extra ginger was added and my teriyaki steak needed more sauce.Service was slow (even after sitting it was a wait to order and a wait for the chef). I was irritated by the waitress offering to refill my soda (which wasn't empty) and then took my glass which would have been fine if I wasn't charged for 2 sodas.I remember going there years ago and while there was always a wait for reservations the service and food were definitely better. There are now better hibachi restaurants locally.
