Great place to go for snack, food and munchies! And the fresh scoop Hershey’s ice cream line is awesome along with the waffle cone and sprinkles!

Not open for anything other than ice cream, just so visitors know!
Unfortunately, our experience was the worst we have ever had at a campground. The cabin, number 4 was not clean. There were bugs everywhere. Yes, we were camping, but you couldn't even go outside and have a light on in the cabin; without having hundreds of gnats swarming. The walls were covered. The mattresses are HORRIBLE!! We got next to zero sleep. I opened up the sofa sleeper to find food and a nasty, dirty sheet. The bathroom floor is nasty and the toilet seat kept coming off. We ended up leaving a day early due to our neighbors in an RV who felt, it was OK to have their dog urinating next to our grill, walking through our site to access the water. They then proceeded to move the picnic table from cabin 5 that they were also renting and put it towards our site; so they could set up a fill volleyball court. Yapping dogs, screaming kids. Absolutely ZERO rules enforced here. The only friendly employee I encountered was the woman I spoke to on the phone. Did I call and complain? No, because it's not MY job to enforce the rules...nor did I want to spend my vacation ....if you can even call it that on the phone. We left a day early, so glad we got the thirty percent off. Paid over 1000 for the worst stay we have ever had. The bare bones cabin we had in Bass Harbor was ten times better than this overpriced dump!! I will be fighting the charges, due to the fact that I have photo evidence of everything I mentioned. AVOID this place at all costs!! The only thing they have going for them, is the lake view and that's not worth 200 a night!!
Although it is an absolutely beautiful place, they have the perfect scenery waterfront property they’re taking advantage of this their prices have gone up so much and they are now charging a resort fee of $50. It is not a resort and they want you to pay $35 to hold your site that is what a reservation is supposed to be very disappointing since, Sun outdoors took it over
While the view from the island is nice, our stay for 5 days was definitely one of the worst campgrounds we have been to. They run it like a tight ship with not much room to enjoy camping. Sites and water were updated recently and we were immediately told to fill our camper with water because the pressure will significantly decrease when more campers arrive. The escort to our site was nice but God forbid you accidentally run over the grass on sites. You’ll get yelled at. We had additional guests that wanted to put up a pop up tent and immediately got yelled at to take it down. We had to have those people stay in everyone else’s campers due to this inconvenience. (Even though the website still states you can) The garbage is conveniently picked up daily and again, got yelled at because we left our doggie bags out there for pickup and they didn’t so that fell on us. They literally have a “security team” on carts that patrol all day and night and it ruins the camping experience as you feel like you’re under lock and key. Now as for the sites… VERY DANGEROUS set up as they didn’t make any of the pads level with the ground therefore you trip going into your site or fall off the pavement to get off your site. VERY DANGEROUS!!! Not to mention you CANNOT set up grills or anything even the picnic benches are on a severe decline. Lastly, the sites themselves are stacked on top of each other and your site room is behind your camper. 1/10. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Apparently the rules are very selective, depending on who you are. The staff is incredibly rude and threatening, not to mention unapologetic . The place is run like a prison camp. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE if you want to enjoy yourself and have a pleasant experience.
Manager had a problem with two campsites and decided that he was enforcing no swimming and that our site ended five feet behind the fire pit and we could not sit by the water in chairs. So we had a great view that we cont not use. There are no signs or information posted on this. DO NOT BOTHER to book until the management is gone. He threatened to kick out if we did not move our chars from inter the trees.
The location is beautiful. The sites are nicely paved, but the space around them is very uneven. There are many utility areas around the sites marked “danger keep out” (sewer mains, electrical boxes, etc.). There was a persistent Oder of sewer throughout our three day stay. The grounds staff is very friendly and accommodating, but the office staff is rude. It seemed to be bother to them when we came in with questions and they were very unfriendly upon check-in.
We paid $130.00 a night for an Elite waterfront site. (More than we paid in Las Vegas for a top-rated Class A Motorhome resort with 5 pools and Hot tubs! Restaurant closed half of the week, pool filled with hair balls, no Wi-Fi. Basically a parking lot with grass. Such a huge disappointment. And no beach to swim.
I used to love Association island Campground always somewhere to look forward to going. Since Sun took over this campground I was expecting great things. The “new” check in area is lacking in everything. Very poorly stocked, and for a “resort” I was also expecting the grounds to be cared for with a bit of attention. They paved all of the sites and built the new check in area/camp store, but the store is empty except for the few Walmart grocery products. The flower pots that are located around the property were empty and the personal did not seem to working on upkeep of the property. One day we had to ask that the pool be unlocked at 11am. Jeff Clark the manager of the property seems to just drive around and look for people to give a hard time to, not a very welcoming guy. I think that we will look for a much friendlier campsite for the future. If your paying resort pricing, you should get resort campground. This is a beautiful island that could be so much more with the right effort put in it. It was nicer, better managed when it was privately owned and the first years as a KOA.

We (two couples … 60 w/ two toy haulers) just made reservations for October, 2022. Based on some reviews here, we were hesitating to stay at Association Island. But, our experience so far has been very positive. I had a lot of questions … all were answered without hesitation… top-notch customer service. I will add to my review after we return from Sun Outdoors Association Island.
Place is a complete joke, very unsanitary and disgusting. Some of the staff are lacking serious people skills and need to move back south. Manager Jeff Clark is an absolute azzhat. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs.
