I really want to love this place but after last pick up my husband told me never again! I ordered a carretillero palteado which is a combo of ceviche and Jalea. they only gave me a ceviche and charge me way more for it. my husband s skirt steak had 0 flavor and was well done which we ordered medium. the chaufa was good. upon receiving my order and check I called the restaurant and after a 20 min wait time I hang up. tried to call but the signal was busy. this used to be an amazing place but it is not the same. I'll be taking my business elsewhere and sadly would not recommend to represent Peruvian food nor good service.

Food matches what you might get in Peru ; tasty, spicy, and full of flavours. The setting is quite nice and clean. The smile that our server maintained all through our stay is unforgettable.

This might have been my worst restaurant experience yet. The building itself was elegant, but for a Saturday night, it was almost empty. Didn't take us long to see why. First, the meals was drastically expensive and no person would get full with the little food that came on our plates. The Jalea tasted horribly, and the fish fillet was musty. Then, I spotted that the ice cubes in my water had candle-wax. We called the waiter, who got defensive. He didn't apologize for any inconvenience and called a fellow waitress who did the same. We are incredibly dissatisfied and do not recommend it to anyone.

The worst restaurant! We waited 1 hour for our food ! Waiter was nowhere to be found I kept on telling different waiters that our we had been waiting a long time for our food and no food came until an hour later ! We ordered Jalea the Jalea was horrible ! Not tasty at all small portion and the batter had to much flour it was hard as a rock ! I don't mind paying money for quality food but this was bad . I wanted to talk to a manager to let him know we had waited an hour for the food he was the chef n he had ruined our night and he simple said I'm sorry and walked away . Horrible service horrible food don't waste your time

What an interesting experience. There were 2 of us, and for some reason every restaurant we tried that night was closed, shut down, had a broken air conditioner, etc. That's how we stumbled upon Jalea! The food was very good, we were the only folks in the joint, and the service was so nice. We ended up chatting with our server a bit.

Let me start off by saying that my husband and I have been waiting to visit Jalea for a while now. We finally got the chance to visit and it was quite the disappointment.Drinks, apps, and food were all tasty but definitely not worth what they charge. We had no idea where our waiter was most of the time, even though we were one of four tables dining in They also never mentioned (and I saw no signage up) that they charge an automatic 20% gratuity.Seriously, save your money and eat home.

I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy. Save your money and your appetite and look elsewhere for a dining experience worth your time. This place is a prime example of how not to run a restaurant. I ordered the rice fried rice and it was the worst fried rice ever had. I asked for ketchup and they gave me sashay packet. We waited long time to receive our meal too. This is a small restaurant with small menu. I will give 0 star if possible.

Sad experience, not as it used to be, Choritos a la Chalaca were blank, arroz chaufa no flavor , Fish not flavor at all, Lomo saltado has to much Oyster sauce, They used cheap Pisco for Pisco sour, you can taste the alcohol, Ceviche was good..service was k, food took to long to be served

We were here last year and loved loved loved the jalea. This year not so much. The saving grace was the fried rice. That was still delicious so this place gets three stars.

Very authentic food, service is friendly and quick. Drinks are excellent, ambiance is lively and fun. I've dined in and ordered to go, both are excellent.

Wanted to try out the local Peruvian spot and the food was great. Ordered a jalita, some ceviche, maduros, white rice, and wifey got a margarita. Everything tasted great. But I will say the place is pricier than expected. The jalita was a really small portion and that was $15. The ceviche was like $30. Bowl of rice was $8. Aside from price, the food was really tasty. Wifey loved the ceviche and I was impressed by the jalita. I most likely won't order rice again, especially not for $8. Service was fine. Place was small but was seated right away.

Good food, incredibly overpriced. Nail in the coffin was the fact that they somehow ran out of roast chicken. I have never eaten at a Peruvian restaurant where they'd run out of roast chicken (the most popular item) in the middle of a dinner rush.Stopped in with the family for dinner craving pollo a la brasa. Huge letdown when they didn't have any left and said that we'd need to wait at least 45 minutes for them to come out with more. Dropped the ball big time there. The jalea is fresh and good as is there arroz chaufa. Service is hit and miss as our server disappeared a lot and was hard to get a hold of. Our meal took a really long time (about 2.5 hours) and food came out pretty slow. Restaurant was fairly busy so it's understandable. Prices though were a tad high, tab for 4 came out to over $300 with desserts and 2 drinks. On the fence about this place, good food but falls short pretty much everywhere else.

Tasty!!! Seated quickly. Recommendation sounded amazing. Wasn't disappointed at all. My gf loved the sangria. Prices were right for the meal.

My parents recommended this Peruvian restaurant. I was in the area and decided to try it out. When I arrived; the restaurant was empty so we were seated quickly. They have a full bar and the ambiance is elegant and dimmed down. We ordered two passion fruit pisco sour drinks which were strong and sweet and delicious. We order a jalea to share which was absolutely delicious. It had fried calamari, fried fish, fried shrimp and only one fried mussel. The waiter was nice enough to bring us two more fried mussels since my boyfriend wasn't able to try it. The fried seafood came with a beautiful side of sliced red onion, cilantro, lemon and tomato mixture that paired great. For the entrees, we ordered arroz chaufa mixta and a variation of ceviches. The arroz chaufa was enough to feed two people and had steak and chicken. It was honestly one of the best arroz chaufa I have ever had; the chicken was tender and the steak had great flavor. The rice was also cooked perfectly and fluffy. The ceviches were also super refreshing; they all varied in spiciness which was satisfying. It had a great balance of spice, lemon and seafood. I would definitely recommend if you are in the Hicksville area. I will be returning to try other things on their menu and to have their drinks.
