I’m so happy we stumbled upon this gem while visiting from out of state. The food was amazing. Even my extremely picky kiddos were happy.

Very rude young man working there, I entered with couple of friends from school and he started asking about kid from our school that owes him money with awful attitude, he acted as we owe him money. At the end we had to leave the bar.

Not good. On Friday February 23, 2024, five of us dined here. After we all arrived, our drink orders were taken. When drinks arrived, food order was taken. Three appetizers and five entrees. We then waited over 30 minutes for the appetizers. Two tomato bisques and a three-onion soup. All delicious but none needs a half-hour to prepare. The restaurant was not busy. After the appetizers were cleared, we waited over an hour for our entrees. I could see the entire restaurant from my seat. People came in after our party, sat, ordered food, ate their food, got their leftover boxes, paid their bill and left while we waited for our food. The front-end staff could not explain why it was taking so long or when our food would come. When our food finally came, three of us were very pleased with our food. Two diners who ordered pistaschio-encrusted tuna got the smallest, driest piece of tuna with a sprinkling of pistachios. Their meal also came with scallops. One diner detected ammonia in her scallop and mentioned it to the hostess who alerted the chef. The chef came out with an attitude and a raw scallop on a plate, demanded the diner smell it. when the diner confirmed it was fresh, the chef said that proved all the scallops were fresh and then snatched away the diner's plate. A rather passive-aggressive way to call the diner a liar. The chef sent out a plate of grilled vegetables for the diner as a substitute. We asked to have the uneaten tuna meal taken off the bill which it was. We paid our bill, tipped the wait staff, and left. We will never be back. An unreasonably long wait, no effort to make up for the delay, a rude and unprofessional chef, an overall unpleasant experience.

Amazing food and service! We were in Stratton and stopped by to have lunch on our way back to NY. Chef is very friendly, and the food was 100% worth it!!

Hoosick Falls is a little out of the way, but this place was open on a Monday night, so we decided to finally check it out. Wow! So glad we did. I have never had such delicious flounder. It was melt-in-your mouth yummy. My daughter's salmon was great too, and we don't know what they are doing to those veggies, but they were absolutely scrumptious. All the flavors were rich and perfect--very authentic French food. The atmosphere is warm and relaxing--kind of a 90s throwback vibe, with yacht rock/smooth jazz. Are you missing some saxophone in your life? Go to Bistro 42!

This past Monday, our party of four had a most exceptional dining experience at Bistro 42.We started with the delicious brussel sprout appetizer which we followed with three amazing entrees; Steak Frites, Coquille St Jacques and Poulet Grille Frites. For dessert, we had Creme Brulee, Crepes Coulis and Key Lime Pie.The food was prepared perfectly and the service as attentive. We will certainly return and highly recommend Bistro 42!Dietary restrictions: Chef Dominique Brialy graciously made adjustments to accommodate the dietary restrictions of our party.

We were in town from Albany and on our way to Bennington for lunch when a local gentlemen, scholar, and long-haired historian suggested that we plug our hard earned dollars into the Hoosick food scene. Atop his list - Bistro 42’s food truck and restaurant. Bowing to his knowledge of the local area, we decided to keep our budget local and try out the food truck. Get anything with mushrooms here, and especially the poutine - wowza! It will not disappoint. Make sure to bring cash only, and lots of it, because this local gem deserves all your disposable income. Seriously, make it happen! And thank you to the anonymous local who shared local history and plugged us into the scene. Lovely town with fantastic people

On 17 August 2023 we hosted a birthday toasting and dining for wife Margaret, with 12 guests. Without any doubt, we could not have chosen a more appropriate and comfortable venue. The pre-arrangements made with chef/owner Dominique became a reality thanks to his careful, conscientious caring about details. His cordial personal welcome and accommodating style were, as usual, trademarks. His staff, all, especially Brandon and Carly who took care of us, mirror Dominique’s manner and commitment to high quality service consistently. And the menu — difficult to choose from because of the varied savory and appealing offerings. The appetizers and entrees chosen by our guests received marked reviews - “absolutely delicious!” Indeed, the Event came together perfectly, with all having fun. Our recommendation could not be more positive! Sincerely, Kevin Thomas and Margaret Frazier-Plodzik
